Lovely, quiet site in a very rural location.

Brilliant views east to the Lake District.

Facilities were basic but entirely adequate.

Slightly nervous about the informal approach of texts as the main method of contact (probably an age thing!) - it worked fine, though!

Would definitely book again if in the area, and it is certainly excellent value for money.

Lovely little campsite, basic but has wonderful views, two toilets, a shower and somewhere to wash up.

A small campsite but I would rather have this campsite any day than one that’s all singing and dancing with bells on. Very quiet.

We had a wonderful stay on this quiet, private camp site with glorious views across the distant fells. We had a motorhome and two small tents for our family.

The toilets were clean, the shower was good (we had pound coins for the meter) and the covered washing up area was out of wind and rain.

Ideally situated mid-lakes for us to reach everywhere we needed to, including Great Nephew's christening!

Egremont with shops and take-aways is not far by car and there were emergency telephone numbers if needed.

There were no other campers on site, just horses next door to give the occasional cough and sound of happily galloping heels!

It suited us perfectly but may not be for those who expect more amenities.

Bonus: we could walk to the sea in 20 minutes. We would stay here again.

Another good stay, we had the whole site too ourselves which was great for the dog!

Only thing was don’t think the facilities had been cleaned before we arrived, we had to clean the sink before we could use it.

Other than that was fine for basic site. It could do with a bit of TLC, when raining decking to toilets is very slippy and a good clean needed

We read previous reviews before booking this site which were all excellent and gave no true reflection of the site,

When we arrived we were really disappointed with the worse than basic facilities. 1 toilet with only cold water for washing and no paper towels. Filthy shower that required £1 coins to operate and translucent doors that offered no privacy. The dish washing facility again was dirty with no hot water. In the 2 days we were there we never saw anything being cleaned.

For the £20 asked for the pitch each night, it definitely wasn’t worth it. Should not be called a campsite.

Popular Choice in this Area

Fisherground Campsite - Eskdale

Nestling in the beautiful Eskdale Valley close to Scafell, England's highest mountain and Wastwater, this site is a children's paradise in the heart of the Lake District. The first thing that meets you on arrival is the pond, fed by a stream and usually full of children paddling and playing on tyre rafts. The playground has zip wires, climbing frames, tyre rope-swings and adventure courses.

Grass pitches (some with EHU) for tents, motorhomes, VW-sized campervans (no caravans). Refurbished toilets, showers and laundry. Peace is the watchword on the campsite - catering mainly for families and couples with silence after 10.30pm. Don't forget your marshmallows - campfires are allowed in selected areas. Nearby shop and pub. And there's an added extra: the site sits along the route of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway line, with it's own station. Choo Choo! Find out more here

I booked this site based purely on the extensive high star reviews, disappointing doesn't cover my experience and I left early.

There was no hot water in the single toilet with filthy sink, the shower was disgusting, as was the elsan disposal site. There was no hot water for dish washing and the advertised dog walks were non-existent.

I will not be coming back.
