Adequate site. Toilets/ showers good.
Rest of site seemed a bit tired. I appreciate weather conditions have been difficult this year but the overall condition of the site did not warrant the £35/night price tag.
No security barrier. Site potentially open to anyone.

Great little site, lovely spacious pitches and clean facilities.
As a group of 5 Motorhome Kay made sure we were all put together which made a huge difference to the quality of our stay.
Will definitely be returning.

Very relaxing and peaceful site - there was a little distant road noise but it didn’t bother us at all. The site is surrounded by mature trees and we heard owls at night! Our hardstanding electric pitch was large and level, although I noticed some others were on a slight slope.
There is no Wi-Fi on site and our Vodaphone mobile signal dropped off at times. The toilets/showers had too many cobwebs/spiders (and holes where spiders could hide) for my liking, but my husband used them happily - the portacabin buildings weren’t new however the toilets and wash basins were clean, and there were no queues. The warden is very pleasant and friendly.
It is easy to miss the turning into the site, so we just continued on to the nearest roundabout and came back for a second attempt!
If you want a really good meal in beautiful surroundings with pleasant staff, the Duke on the Test, near Romsey, is fabulous - it is only a short drive away and has a 5 hygiene rating. (Dogs are allowed in the bar dining area. )
The White Horse pub (Greene King) is within (slightly uphill) walking distance of the campsite and allows dogs in the bar. It looks a little run down in places inside so we didn’t stop for a meal, although my husband caught a glimpse into the kitchen and said that looked very clean, and I notice it has a 5 star hygiene rating.
They had a ‘vintage and interesting’ car gathering in the early evening (I think they said it is held on the third Thursday of each month) which was good to see - just need to park in the nearby overflow parking because the main car park is used for the car display.
During our short stay we visited Romsey, took a stroll around the town centre, had a tasty snack and milkshake at Josie’s, and went into the Abbey.
The next day we visited the New Forest and also Mudeford Quay - there is a large pay & display car park there. Lots of young children at the quay with their buckets and lines catching crabs. If you stroll along the seafront, past the holiday lodges, you’ll eventually come across some seafront shops, restaurants and a fish and chip takeaway (which we are told by friends is good, although we didn’t try it).
We would definitely return to the campsite for a short break.

Great little site for adults only. Nice and quiet. And a close walk to the pub for lunch.
The water and electricity points were close by. The toilet is clean but did need a bit of maintenance that weekend. Because of a leak.
But otherwise we liked it.

Nice site a few miles from Romsey (lovely town) and close to Ampfield, where there is a good pub (the White Horse).
The site has large grass and hardstanding pitches. There are good hot-water showers and washrooms, but the washing up area is not under cover; I believe there are plans to move this to the other end.
The warden was extremely helpful and approachable, and the site was very quiet at night. We were the only tent on site, but felt very at home there.
There's bus stops outside the site to both Romsey and Winchester, which are both worth a visit. Romsey Abbey is lovely, and the town has a nice atmosphere. If you want to go further afield there are trains to Salisbury, Southampton and other locations.
The Hilliers Garden are close by, but the the road to them lacks a footpath (from what we could see) so we drove there.
All in all, it's a nice site, and well worth a stop.

Site was pleasant, open, quiet. Very good for stop offs.
Good for Romsey and Winchester.
Romsey is a nice place for shopping and exploring history of the area with an Abbey worth a visit.
Lord mountbatten is buried there and his old home is nearby.
Amities good.
I would call in again

Great campsite and great pre-arrival communication with the site warden. Spotlessly clean shower/loo block. Electric hookup and handstanding pitch great (although a bit too frosty on this visit for me to take full advantage of the adjacent picnic table).
Site warden was friendly and super helpful with local driving directions and even offered to loan me a small fan heater as it was so cold and I had no diesel heater in my van.
Other campers friendly too. All in all a great stay with lovely view of the night sky both nights. I would heartily recommend and will definitely book again in future.
Points to note:
It’s 30min walk to Hilliars Gardens - which has a cafe and restaurant as well as some amazing plants and trees. Campsite is also close to the New Forest. Lovely drive there to see the sunset, the planetary alignment and new forest ponies during my stay.
Some reviews I read before booking were mixed about the showers and water freezing and the price of pitches.
I paid £32 per night including ehu (no additional charge on top). I thought that was reasonable. My experience was that the shower block was great - clean, and warm with plentiful hot water. Push button showers were effective at providing a hot shower and minimising waste.
Water taps were available around the site and although the one I tried was frozen once at 2am, I expected it to be at that time as the air temperature was also freezing (February after all). It had defrosted later that morning and no issue then when filling up my 5l container.
I understand there’s a new owner with plans to do some upgrades around the site - imo this will make an already lovely site even better 😊

We stayed on this lovely site for five nights
Kay met us on arrival and showed us to our pitch. we also met the new owner who was also very friendly
We set up our tentbox Which we have mounted on a trailer
We found it very peaceful and could hear owls at night
We can't wait for next year to return.
The facilities are a little tired but kept clean
Romsey is just a short drive away and there is a bus stop near the site
Hillier's arboretum is also a short drive away

The Site was easy to find and very clean, showers hot. Kay was very friendly and met us when we arrived.
The site is on a main road but it was very quiet.
There are a couple of pubs 10-15 mins walk away. Romsey is only 10 mins drive, a small village with pubs and shops.
There is also a bus stop on the main road which goes direct to Winchester.
We went on a Sunday costing us £2 each for one way, very reasonable and convenient.

Great site, quiet at night even though it is near the road. Site warden lovely. Spacious pitches.
Toilet block was kept clean. All 7 urinals were out of order during our stay, of the 3 cubicles the plate the flush buttons are mounted on 1 of the toilets kept falling off & 1 button on another didn't work.
When someone had showered the whole of the bathroom was filled with steam, there's no extractor or windiw to open so the door had to be propped open.
The dishwashing was poor, 2 half bowls, admittedly deep with no cover from the weather. No cold water at the tap & the hot was lukewarm.
I understand the site has new owners with plans to change things this September. It could be a really great site.
We would stay again though despite these gripes.
