 This was the first time I camped outside of the lake district, I found the site to be excellent. A nice private pitch was easy to find on a bank holiday weekend.
The facilities on the site are good although it would be far better if the shop was open all day and served food.
The showers etc were good and clean, although busy.
The only thing I didn't like was the scenery, it was bland and the site its self is in the middle of nowhere. I am used to the fantastic views from the Scotgate park in cumbria and the views on this site were very dull.
Overall a good site for a short stay, I will try again.

A warm welcoming site with fabulous views over the nearby river Ure. We were kept entertained by the brown trout that could be viewed easily from within the 'van. We found it to be well kept, with warm, clean facilities. Plenty of room - good grassy pitches. Well signposted. As we were there early in the season it wasn't very busy and was also therefore quiet. Just how we like it.
An on site shop supplying essentials as well as a kayaking facility for the water sports enthusiasts.
Children would need to be kept busy with the river and local wildlife spotting as there is not a huge amount on site for them.
However this is a safe and well maintained site, great for watching the bird life on the river. We had a great time.

Been to this site three times this year. Nicely landscaped, not one of those "square field" sites. You can pick where you want to camp. River running alongside which can be from a gently flowing river to a raging torrent quite quickly! Kayaking & canoes available on site. Not much in the way for kids, but still a lot of them on the site. One toilet block which has free hot showers and plenty of loos, cleaned regularly. Unfortunately it is at only one end of the site which can mean a bit of a hike if you camp at the other end! Fly fishing available on site. Shop with off licence on site. Only 6 miles from the centre of Ripon and within walking distance (well, a decent walk) from Lightwater Valley. Pub is about a 15 minute walk. A lovely site, very scenic and will definitely be going again.

Ranks in the top 2 of Campsites we've visited ( and we do a lot of camping) Perfect setting, loads of pitching space, even in the height of the season. Showers and washing up facilities are second to none. Perfect setting next to the river, kids loved it so did us big kids! Management Friendly and helpful nothing too much trouble. Ideally positioned for loads of attractions etc. Will be visiting again and again.

This campsite is on the whole a really good campsite. It is set it a lovely river valley, with very spacious pitches. Kayaks are available for hire on the river and the surrounding countryside and villages makes for a good campsite.
The only downside to the campsite is as previously mentioned - the toilets. For the size of the site, there are too few toilet and shower facilities and because of this they get very dirty very quickly. The site is under new management now and the toilets have improved since previous visits so I would hope that next season things should be spot on.
One final point is the departure time of 12:30. Given it was a quiet sunday afternoon, many campsites would have let you stayed a little later. However here you had to pay an extra picnic rate - which was a bit of a dampner on the weekend.

This place is now under new ownership we were told. We had a fantastic few days here. The toilet/shower facilities were great and the owners could not do enough to help you. The kids really enjoyed playing in the river. There is a canoe school on site at weekends.
The only criticism I would have and it is a small one is that the kids play area is a bit naff - just a few logs and climbing frame.

First outing for many years. A trial to see whether our 3 year old will like camping. Absoloutely beautiful location. Trees, neatly cut grass and the river flowing by. Toilet facilities modern and clean. Generally quiet family oriented site. Site shop small, essentials and some hot butties, tho can sell beer or wine as well! washing up water now free!
Warning; shop opens at odd hours so we didn't get our toilet key deposit back!
Generally well run clean site trying to offer some activities in the form of Archery and canoing but more about nature, peace and quiet. There is a training air base in the area, but we quite liked the interest offered by the occasional plane or helicopter not intrusive.
Would definitely go again.

Plenty of room small shop on site but toilets were not not the cleanest. Love the yorkshire dialect on entrance to site. Not far from Lightwater Valley and the market town of Ripon. A visit to the Blacksheep brewery in Masham was good. We will definately be coming back to this site.

Pleasant campsite, but wish I had read reviews before my visit. The showers (trickle of water!) and toilets were adequate. The washing up facilities were a joke, after a half mile walk to the only sink you had to pay 20p for a small amount of hot water. The play areas were poor. Despite this we had a lovely time and the campsite is well looked after in a lovely setting. The children enjoyed cycling around the campsite, it was a very safe place.

Pleasent enough site but not much in the way of views from the caravan. Found the 'extensive childrens play areas' as described on the web site very disapointing (children 8 and 10). Sand in the sand pit left the children scruffy by the end of the day. Not the best facilities but, all said, we had a good weekend.

Possibly the best pitches on a campsite in Yorkshire! Plenty of room, flat grassed pitches with some shelter in a pleasant riverside setting.
What a pity that there is only one toilet block in the main camping area and if you are at the far end of the site as we were you have a half mile walk to the only washing up area...one sink and a 20p charge!
With a little investment this site could be great.

Not a bad site, plenty of room between pitches. Very little to do on site, long walk to nearest pub. Handy for Lightwater valley. Childrens play area is a sand pit and a few logs to fall off - not really a play area. Shower block only has 2 showers in the gents, although kept clean more are required. Would I return - no. Enjoy.

Good for White water kayaking pitch right next to the river.
Big campsite had loads of space and is well sign posted, good advantage near light water valley to bring the big kid out in you.
Toilets were not that nice though and the shower had a lot of spiders and in one I found an worm.
Other than that the area was wonderful and the river was stocked well with brown trout.
