This site is well maintained good facilities for the children but limited in the number of showers and dishwashing facilities.
The touring field is high on the hill and very exposed. We had two sleepless nights due to the extreme winds and torrential rain. Ended the stay two days early as did many others around us.
The location in relation to the beach was very good, the outdoor pool could not be faulted.
If the weather was better this site would be at the top of our list but at £30. 50 per night and no sleep, sorry. Anglesey never again.
An excellent site, we arrived at 9am on the Sat. We where greeted at reception, who booked us in very organized and quick, we where then shown to our plots 4 of them together as we were a party of 8 ad and 8 kids,
The field is windy but we had no problem. There where benches scattered around the field that was brilliant to eat on as we moved ours in between the tents.
The swimming pool was a little sun trap and the kids loved it, rather cold when getting out though, the only down side was the trek to toilets but we used the cars.
They could defo do with toilet blocks on the camping field
Would definitely return back to this campsite loved it.
This was an excellent campsite, Staff very helpful and friendly. Site owners were flexible over minimum 3 night bank holiday stay as we only needed 2 nights.
All facilities - toilets, showers etc clean, safe and plentiful. Great location, loads to do for the kids. 10 mins by car to beach but on site swimming pool was fantastic.
Will definitely be going back. Would recommend to anybody thinking of going to Anglesey. Price comparable with others researched.
What can I say, fantastic site absolutely gorgeous and very very clean, the owners are friendly, helpful and totally deserve a brilliant review. I have nothing but praise for this site and would fully recommend. They only thing I could possibly quibble about is that we pitched on a hill (our own fault) and were a little unsteady on our feet with such a big tent and it not being very level. I can only give this a 5 star rating as the facilities where fantastic and spotless even over a bank holiday, no queues for showers or washing up etc. The pool area could have been abroad and was again spotless and well laid out. The facilities for children are excellent and as parents found it easy to let our child just run and burn off his energy in such safe surroundings. The statics are kept to an immaculate standard and there was definitely no holiday camp feeling for quite a big site, this won't be out last visit!
We booked this camp last minute on the bank holiday and we think we struck lucky. It was very clean, tidy and the rockeries around the camp where in full bloom.
The staff were really nice and helpful. We had a choice of the last hard standing pitch or going on the field, we took the hard standing, which was the better choice as if you are on the field it's a fair walk to the showers and toilets.
We had no children with us but the play areas (2),the pool, and games room looked very good. Its about a mile to the nearest pub but we didn't chance walking there as there are no pavements and no street lights, the camp shop was minimal but had all the basics.
The beaches are lovely but parking is limited so you have to get there early! the car park at benllech library always had plenty of room but then there,s a good walk down to the beach. It was 28pound for the night but that was for up to 6 persons so not bad overall.
We would definitely go back and have already recommended it to others.
We arrived on site for 4 nights around midday Monday 3rd Aug, (4 adults, 3 children, 2 tents) and after paying at reception were taken to the top large camping field and told to pitch where we wanted.
As we wanted electric hook-up, the choice was limited to the middle of the field as the hook-ups around the edges were all taken, mainly by tourers.
The problem with this position was it was very exposed and it was very very windy. The rest of the site around the statics was just slightly breezy, but this field, wow, sleepless night all round! Once the wind dropped though, it was fine although the wasps then came out to play!
One other thing about the hook-ups, there are just a couple of terminals mid field, each with 4 hook-up points. Therefore, over the next couple of days when more people arrived, we were all bunched together. The field is huge, so if you don't want hook-up, you can camp 'alone' otherwise be prepared to join a small camping / touring neighbourhood!
There were chemical disposal and water points on this field.
The site grounds are very well maintained and staff were great. The wardens came around the site at night to check for any noise etc.
The children loved the pool which was clean and had plenty of loungers and chairs. There were changing rooms and showers here which was handy.
The toilet/shower/pot washing block was about 320 yards from the entrance to our field. If you are at the end of the field, add another 150 yards. This was not bad in nice weather, but the first couple of nights when it was throwing it down it was too far, and we ended up taking the car down (shamefully!). Also, don't forget your torch, there are no lights at all on this field.
There are three showers, five loos and two pot washing sinks in this block. We had to queue to wash dishes a couple of times and once for showers. Although the rest of the site was spotless, we felt the shower / toilet block could have been cleaned more. It appeared to only be cleaned once a day and not spot checked at all, I had to report no loo paper at all on one day. It wasn't filthy, but let down the rest of the site.
There was only one clothes hook in each shower and although large, no seat or shelf to put anything on inside the shower cubicle.
The report from the Gents was similar to the above.
The pot washing area was rather small and cramped and as there are no draining boards, you will get soaked!
The kids really enjoyed the site, the playground was good there is plenty of room to wander and it felt very safe. The tennis court needs to be booked and a £5 deposit paid. There is a 'barn' with arcade type games and table tennis and a football field.
Benllech beach is about 5 minute drive away as are some local shops, co-op, chip shop etc and the site shop sells a good selection of goods and newspapers. Freezer packs can be re-frozen for 15p per block.
Asda and other supermarkets were also about 5/10 minute drive away.
We had some good days out to Church Bay, Red Wharf Bay, Lligwy beach and the Gaol in Beumoris one rainy day (£10 for family ticket)which I would recommend. We also parked up by the runway of RAF Valley and watched the fighter jets taking off and landing, the kids loved it!
In conclusion, This site was good and Anglesey fantastic, but for £26 per night, I expected the facilities for campers to be far better, even just a small pot washing area on the field would help. The site seems more geared up for the static caravan owners and tourers who have their own facilities.
If I had a caravan, I would be back there like a shot. If the price was around £20 per night for campers and I had a 25 metre hook-up extension lead I would also re-visit! As it is, there are probably more value for money sites I would try before coming back to this one.
Fantastic site, owners and staff very friendly and helpful. Grounds well maintained, with lots of flowers everywhere.
Kids loved the pool and it was good that they could shower and change there instead of having to walk to the shower block.
Small shop which was open from first thing in the morning until the evening good for the essentials and reasonably priced. They freeze your ice blocks for a very small charge which was handy.
Shower and toilets very clean and warm and although there are only a few toilets and 3 showers we never had to wait to use either.
Benllech beach and shops a short drive away.
Would definitely recommend this site and hope to return when we stay in Anglesey again.
Just got back from a fantastic stay at this site !I've been camping for a year with my 3 year old daughter and this is the best site ! beautiful appearance well maintained. Good play areas, few farm animals to see, brilliant pool. Shop was closed as low season in the week but lady on reception served us if we needed it. Toilet and shower facilities were very clean but only 5 ladies showers don't know what would be like peak season. Benllech beach is nice, plenty of parking, good chippy, a garage and well stocked cost cutter. All in all excellent holiday would definitely use again and recommend.
We have just had a great week on this site. It is so well run with strict rules about dogs and noise, ie: there's a dog walking field and dogs must be kept on leads and the kids park must be vacated by 11pm. These rules are good for those of us with small children. The toilet and shower block are very clean with constant hot water. The site shop has anything you need from toys to fresh bread and milk. The family who run the site are very helpful and friendly and are always there to answer questions. The bins are emptied regularly and the whole site is generally very well maintained, especially the pool which is lovely. We will definitely be visiting again!
