Excellent family-friendly site. Although we only stayed on the site for one night, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The facilities are superb. Very well-maintained and laid-out grounds and pitches. Our children loved the large playpark area, with separate areas for smaller and older children and a tennis court. Other children were happily riding around the site on their bikes & scooters - there were many safe areas for them to do this, especially next to the playpark which leads onto wooded walks. Toilet block was second-to-none - very clean with a good number of showers, baths & toilet cubicles, and good dish-washing facilities. We ate in the restaurant before we left and were well catered for, with the children being able to pop through to the games room when they got a bit fidgety.

We found the site staff very accomodating and fully intend to book to return next year (with the kids' bikes!). We've got our eyes on one of their large patio pitches with adjacent shed near to the playpark - I can't imagine anywhere better to spend a few days away with the children.

They could maybe do with a map to give to campers on arrival to help locate the pitch - we had to go back into Reception a couple of times to figure out exactly where we were going! The only other downside was that the shop closed at 11.30am on the day we were there, leaving us without our required cold irn-bru & diet coke (we only had to wait 'til we had lunch in the restaurant to get them, though)!

Rather than go into St Andrews, which was extremely busy due to their Highland Games, we travelled a wee bit down the coast to the award-winning beach at Kingsbarns. Again, the kids loved it & came home tired-out, happy little bunnies!

This was the first site we stayed on and have just been for a return visit even though we only live 25mins away! The facilities are second to none, I have never seen such an abundance of showers, baths, toilets, washrooms and baby changing facilities on any site here or abroad. Everything is spotless and the grounds are very well kept, its like pitching in a beautiful garden!

Our tent pitch even had a wooden bench and somewhere to put the bbq. It is very reasonable and pitches all have electric at no extra cost. A must visit! Fife is a great place not just for golfers! plenty for everyone, don't miss the East Neuk fishing villages.

Went to this site for the Leuchars Airsow and was a bit apprehensive when entering the site as it looked expensive. Mind soon put at rest by two very helpful receptionists and was surprised to find that they were actually cheaper than the last site we visited in St Andrew's.

Site is extremelly well laid out and the grassed area is so well kept that you could play professional bowls on it.

Toilet Block:: well words cannot express these facilities. They are so clean (and I'm not joking) you could eat your dinner off the floors. They accomodate for every eventuallity as they have baby changing rooms, baths, and in the shower cubicles there are pull down child seats in the walls that you can strap your baby into while you have a shower.

Easy access to shops 2 miles away in centre of St Andrews or Dundee 12 miles. Sandy beaches in Town and well placed for touring the Fife Tourist route.

One Final word of Advice: When we went we were asked for proof of caravan insurance when booking in. 1st time I have come accross this but it is a welcome idea.

Very clean and well looked after site with excellent facilities - they've even got private bathrooms (with baths and unlimited hot water!)

A couple of downsides though - the groundstaff make an early start and you can hear their tractor start up from 100 yards away every morning at around 8am, so if you did fancy a lazy morning take your earplugs!

There is an onsite coffee shop/restaurant - even though there was only one other couple in there, they wouldn't serve us with just a coffee without food, so we never got to sample it.

There's also a shop, tennis court & games room (they don't rent any equipment though but will sell you them from the shop), info room and laundry room.

Overall a nice, clean site with excellent facilites but considering how empty & quiet the site was during our stay, I felt that the staff could have been a little more relaxed with their routines and been a little more welcoming. This park runs like a well oiled machine, but a personal touch works wonders sometimes!

Winner of the AA's prestigious 'Best Scottish Campsite for 2002' award.
Craigtoun Meadows Holiday Park is a very well layed out site. with something for everyone. We were lucky with excellent weather the weekend we were there.
We took a trip into St. Andrews for the day and spent the afternoon on the beach. St Andrews is a very busy tourist attraction with plenty to see and do.
Next to the holiday park is Craigtoun Meadows Country Park which is an excellent facility with plenty for both young and not so young alike.
I would highly recommend this site to anyone who is thinking of visiting St. Andrews.
