We’ve just had six lovely nights at Abbey View House, the view of Whitby, Whitby Abbey and the sea is really lovely. It’s about a 2 mile walk into Robin Hoods Bay. From here there is a couple of lovely walks to Whitby. One is along the cleveland way with spectacular views. The other along an old railway track called the cinder track. Alex was very helpful and gave us a number for a local taxi which was dog friendly so when we walked to Whitby we could catch the taxi back. As others have said the site is well thought out and we will return sometime

We have just returned from 5 fabulous days at Abbey View House. The facilities are excellent and the owners so kind and helpful. The dog field ia easily accessed from all pitches. The pitches have a superb view over the fields to the sea beyond. Supermarket just down the road, and a variety of restaurants and local bars nearby. Whitby is all you can ask of an English port/seaside, sandy beaches, some dog friendly and fishing boats bringing in their daily catch. We found the site extremely friendly and will most certainly return. Until then, we send Kaye, Alex, Billy, Barney and Stanley all our best wishes from. Carol, George and the westies

My husband and myself have just come back from an enjoyable peaceful holiday at Abbey View House.
We camped in a tent for a week 12/7/2015 to 19/7/2015 the site is well laid out, with an area for children to play, and also an enclosed dog area.
The views are fantastic you can see the Abbey and the sea from the site.
The owners are very friendly and they keep a clean and tidy site.
However there is only 1 Shower and 1Toilet in the ladies and my husband says the Gents are the same.
There is a local pub about 2miles away, and the nearest supermarket is sainsburys which is about 4miles away.
If you enjoy walking as we do, then this is a fantastic place to stay as the moors are right on the doorstep.
Good value, and we will be going back again.

We spent 4 nights at this site and were delighted with our choice. Quiet and peaceful with spotlessly clean toilet/shower and pot wash area. A short drive from Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay and convenient for trip into Scarborough. Alpacas in the field next to site were added bonus. Would definitely return.

Stayed here for the week, just me and the tent. What a pleasant site. Small and quiet, except for a little working noise from the dairy farm across the road. Owners kept to the background but were friendly and helpful when needed. Under cover dish washing area, only one toilet and shower per gender but lashings of free hot water. No play area for kids but plenty of open space. No shop on site but free range eggs available from owners and large Sainsbury about mile away. It's a good leg stretch to Robin Hoods Bay so on the way back you may want to stop for a drink at the pub in Fylingdale, where I had one of the best meals ever, even took a picture of it, sad! Down side could do with more loos and maybe a freezer for ice packs, other wise a great place to stay.

This was the first independent site we have used since camping for the first time last summer. We choose the site as it seemed quiet but close enough to the coast and things to do in the area. How lucky were we ? We initially booked for a couple of days but stayed for 5. The site up a quiet lane just off the main road between Scarborough and Whitby. Very friendly hosts helped us on arrival. We got to choose where we wanted to pitch our family tent. There is plenty of room between pitches and the site is sheltered from the road by a large hedge on two sides.
The shower and loos were new and extremely clean, although there is only one toilet and one shower in both the gents and the female block we never had a problem queuing to use them.
We took our dog for the first time this year and so we're really pleased with the fenced off doggy park.
The site is a couple of miles from the coastal Cleveland Way, which we used for a return walk in to the Abbey at Whitby one day and then south down to Robin Hoods Bay on another morning. The local pub is 5 mins by car and serves great meal both lunchtime and evenings. There also seemed to to takeaways for other users on site when we visited.
We would definitely use this site again when we return to Whitby. Mainly because what it is not. It does not have an on site disco, restaurant, children's play park or supermarket. However they do offer a very warm Yorkshire welcome, lots of helpful advice of what is available locally, with a well maintained clean site. What more do you need for a relaxing break.

Great little site and very welcoming. Ideal for local walks. Good hook up points. Useful little dog exercise and poo field for canine lovers. Very clean and modern shower and toilet with constant hot water. Somewhat difficult to find and a sign on main road would help. Although I would recommend this site to anyone the single shower and loo (one each for male and female) were a handicap at times and the site was not at full capacity. However we would use the site again without reservation if in the area. Mike & Hefina

Stayed at Abbey View for two nights with my partner for our first ever camping trip. Loved the site, really quiet and peaceful apart from the cows and sheep but that wasn't a problem at all. Washroom facilities were clean and tidy and enough for the size of the site. Fresh eggs available on site which was a nice touch. Great base to explore Scarborough and Whitby. Just booked up for this year (2015).

Booked for the may bank holiday weekend stumbled across this little site and what a fan find it was its a lovely small site about 11 pitches very clean facilities and the owners very friendly and helpful. The views from the pot wash area is stunning it was a shame the hedge wasn't a little lower or me a little taller so I could see the views from my tent. We walked to robinhoods bay about 2 miles we did it at a steady pace with the kids and past the day nicely with stunning views along the way and a 5 minutes drive to Whitby was grate to have a walk on the pier in a evening. The cows in the stack yard across the way are up early but that's what camping in the country is all about. This site has nothing on it for the kids but plenty of open space to play ball etc and the alpacas kept them amused. Defiantly going to keep this site in my places to stay 👍

We booked this the morning we wanted to stay as we had set off on an adventure not knowing where to go, how lucky we're we! This was a lovely location, the view over Whitby and the sunset into the sea was grand. We were the only people there due to the weather and time of year I think but the owners were very welcoming! It's in a good location, you could walk to robin hoods bay, but perhaps a drive to Whitby would be better or bikes on a sunny day. The showers and toilets were very clean and looked brand new, was impressed.

Just spent 3 days on this wonderful site with our son and nephew who are 6 and 7. The location is perfect - very near to Whitby and Robin Hood's bay ( and supermarket) but a very quiet location with superb views over Whitby. Safe site for children who loved the open space and the alpacas. Large spacious pitches and we were able to choose where we camped. Lots of hot water, clean toilets and shower - had a great time -we will be back.

Lovely site. Arrived here without booking as could not get on original site booked. Made welcome straight away. Host happy to book us in and show us around, also directed us to Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby and nearest pub. Lovely flat field, quiet and very very clean. Separate field for dogs to be let loose (had left mine behind on this occasion). Lots of swifts flying and even saw a sparrow hawk right next our trailer tent. Is a site for couples/young children and not for rowdy groups. Would most certainly return here.
Thank you to the hosts.

What a lovely site, the owners were extremely accommodating, especially when we arrived late due to my lack of a sense of direction and getting lost on the way and turning up late! Thanks to Alex for staying up for us.
The site is not one of those huge crammed in places, it has a nice couple of fields for tents, caravans or motorhomes and is pretty level with electric hook ups if you need them. The views to the sea and the abbey are beautiful, and the field with the alpacas and sheep is next to the camping field and they are lovely, there are lots of birds to see too including beautiful swallows skimming the field. The toilet and shower facilities are lovely and clean. The washing up area with hot water is great and separate from the toilet block.
The weather was great although windy at night and don't do what we did and forget to pack the fleeces/jackets lol.
For our first try at campervanning it was a wonderful experience, nice and quiet and peaceful with helpful owners who were there if you needed them but otherwise left you to enjoy your time. We will definitely go back.

Enjoyed our first camping trip to this site.
Toilet and shower facilities were spotless. Constant warm powerful shower
Lovely views could see the abbey from and the sunset looked amazing from where we were.
Didn't really speak to the owners but they seemed pleasant enough when we arrived.
Animals nearby and the were very friendly and loved a tickle.
4 miles to whitby.
Stayed for one night. May have stayed longer if price was a little cheaper.

This is a very well kept site with lovely views. The owners were extremely helpful and pleasant.
We knew it was a working farm, and there was some noise from the adjacent farm, which was not very intrusive but was definitely audible. This did not bother us, but may put some people off.
The toilet and shower were spotlessly clean and warm.
It was 24 pounds a night for the Easter 4 night break, which seemed about normal for this area at this time.
Nice walks near by, and the fenced dog exercise area was a great idea, although our mental dog just kept eating the cat poo which was in the field.
Overall it was a lovely site, but just be aware that there may be some noise from the nearby farm. Alpacas were cute and provided plenty of entertainment for the kids.
