We stayed here for a week in our touring caravan. We were given assistance to site the caravan as it was located at the top of a steep field.

The views of Whitby and the abbey were superb. The site is in a very good location with Robin Hood's Bay behind and Whitby in front. The toilets and showers were relatively new then and only had one toilet and shower in each of the mens and ladies.

My wife's criticism was that walking across the yard at night was a hazard as there were no lights and she went over in a dip in the yard.

The Alpacas in the field next door were entertaining.

Just returned from an initially 4 night break which we extended to 5 due to the site being so peaceful, so relaxing with stunning views over Whitby.

The shower block is brand new with a decent modern power shower, you are limited to 1 shower and 1 toilet per sex, however we only had to wait once between the pair of us. The dog walking field is perfect, fully enclosed and big enough for all dogs. If you are into birds, the site offer plenty of Housemartins, Swifts and we even had a few visits from the resident Merlin.

Alex, the site owner, is extremely helpful and chatty. Around and about there are some great walks, you are in Whitby after a 5 min drive where you can walk up the beach to Sandsend - about an hours walk. Walk the other way and you will pick up the Cleveland way and arrive in Robins Hoods Bay. We did the walk from Robins Hoods Bay (2 mins from the site) to Ravenscar, stunning but hard walk along the cliff tops. Took us 2. 5hrs to do that one. In total we walked 30 miles in 4 days and never got tied of the views the area had to offer us. Most pubs in the area seemed to be dog friendly.

Will certainly be back.

This site is in a lovely location high up above Whitby with a great panorama including the Abbey (hence the name of the site) and the sea. Only 4 miles or so from the town of Whitby itself we even got a taxi one day from the site to the town for some sightseeing and it was around £8 one way which if you share isn't too bad at all.

And in the other direction is an easy 2 mile walk through pretty rural English scenery to Robin Hood's Bay which is a lovely town with pretty little shops and cafes and a great beach for rockpooling and fossil-hunting; great for kids.

The pitches are lovely and flat with thick cushioning grass, and I enjoyed being around farm animals; sheep and alpacas in the neighbouring field, and chickens and cats running about, and cows mooing. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and the toilet/shower block was very clean and comfortable.

One thing I would say is that being up high the mist came down a few times and made everything damp, which personally I don't mind and no-one can do much about!

I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this site to others, in particular families with children as everyone on the site when we visited seemed to be in that category and the kids were playing together, and kids love farm animals and there's loads of attractions for them in the surrounding area.

However the flipside of this is that at times it was not as tranquil as it could have been.

Recently returned from 11 nights at Abbey View House. We were immediately given a warm welcome by the owners and were given a huge pitch with hook-up which was more than ample for our needs. The views across Whitby are lovely.

The toilet facilities were always kept clean and well-stocked. There was plenty of room for all the children on the site to play ball games, fly kites etc.

The walk to the Village is great with beautiful views across Robin Hood's Bay - stick to the road - it's easier!

We were very impressed with Whitby - 4 miles away - lots going on there and a great atmosphere in the evenings. Scarborough and Filey are well worth a visit too. Have to mention the Steam Train ride to Goathland/ Pickering etc - well worth it for the scenery.

All in all, we found the site to be very peaceful and relaxing the whole time we were there and will definitely return if we venture this way again in the future.

The owners of this site could not have been more helpful, very friendly and made sure we had every thing we needed. Particularly as we were experiencing such awful weather conditions the owners made sure we were ok.

The toilet and showers were excellent all new.

As much hot water as you want. Washing up area clean and

Tidy. All the facilities very good

The views from site are excellent from fields right over the coast line at Whitby also Whitby abbey can be seen from there.

Lovely grassy field ideal for caravan or tents, separate dog walking field. A quite and peaceful CL site

There is Whitby 10 minutes by car and Scarborough 20 min so plenty of shops.

Robin hood bay is 5 minutes away but if you want to walk then

20 minutes but not for the faint hearted as it quite steep to walk back. Lots of coastal walks and of course Whitby abbey to visit. Couldn't wish for a better site I would definitely go back again.

Lovely site the owners are very friendly

Pitch was very wet but after the weather we had it was not any wonder.

Toilets and Showers are brilliant plenty of hot water and always clean and tidy.

Large field for dog walking on site.

Great location to visit Robin hood Bay, Whitby and surrounding area.

The only down side was 6amp electric hook up due to location not a problem if you are aware and take a lower wattage kettle.

Would not hesitate to stop again when visiting the area

We were given a warm welcome by owner as we pulled into the site, and directed to the best pitch for the van.

We found them to be very friendly and had extensive knowledge of the area, including walks, and best places for food.

The site is quite small (this is one of the reasons we booked) and has modern, clean shower/toilet facilities with plenty of hot water. It is also perfectly sited for Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby and Scarborough.

We would strongly recommend the site and will be back again the the near future.

Just back from a long weekend at Abbey View!

With the weather at its worse, we were met by the owner, who said we could go and explore the area whilst he sited our van because the field was water logged in places. This was much appreciated !

Myself and my 2 children did not want to cancel and pleased we didn't.

We found this site to be a gem of a place, the views over to Whitby are amazing !

The walk to Robinhoods Bay is delightful. With back packs and walking gear on we set off on a 2 mile trek down the narrow roads and over some fields to be met with some stunning views, it was so peaceful. OK! So downhill was great but, you have to come back up !

Challenging in itself, its very steep, but, just take your time and stick to the road (easier walking) and its no problem.

Even easier if you ask for a taxi ride back up for £5, you can be back on site without any effort, great if you fancy a pint or 2 !

Facilities are spotless. Male and Female Bathrooms have 2 basins, 1 Shower and 1 toilet.

There is a separate field for exercising your dog.

No children's play area but loads of space to enjoy small outdoor games.

With Whitby, Scarborough, Fylingdales and Robonhoods Bay on your doorstep you cant do better than this.

This is a small site only room for 5-6 caravans, so, don't delay if thinking about going here because you may be disappointed if you miss out.

If you want a friendly welcome and uninterrupted peace with stunning views this is the place to be !

You will note that previous reviews by others make favourable comments re the owners helpfulness, cleanliness of facilities, good views, access to walks etc. All of these comments are accurate in our opinion and make this CS worth visiting.

However, what is not clear from previous reviews is that you will pay £18 per night for these positive aspects. This is too expensive in our opinion particularly when the hook ups are limited to only 6 amps- that only allows a draw of less than 1400 watts by the way.

To pay £18 per night and still have to rely on gas for heat etc as we did is not good value for money. I think anyone visiting in cool weather will find that 6 amps is inadequate and below expectations when taking account of the pitch price.

In addition to this the ground conditions were poor in wet weather. It would be best to check with the owner what the ground condition is before arrival as if it has been wet recently you may have difficulties.

All in all we enjoyed our stay but this was largely due to the location and not the particular site.

Lovely little site between Whitby and scarborough. Brand new toilet and shower block, very clean with lots of hot water.

Nice views over Whitby down to the abbey.

Owners very pleasant and helpful. Lovely to wake up to the alpaca's in the morning.

Dogs were welcome as we saw a separate enclosed field for them to use.

Convenient for a walk to Robin Hoods bay, where we had a lovely meal at the Bay Hotel, blue skies and sea crashing against the rocks. I think this is were the Coast to Coast ends.

Lovely part of England and would use this site again

We have just returned from a wonderful 6 night stay, the site is all grass and very well maintained.

The shower and toilets are brand new and always had loads of hot water(a waste bin would be useful.

The views from the site are wonderful, straight down to the abbey and out to the sea.

There are some lovely walks from the site on quiet lanes, and a fantastic coastal walk from Robin hoods bay to Whitby.

We had a lovely sunday lunch at The Hare and Hounds at Hawsker, which was a short walk from the site

We look forward to visiting the site again very soon.

A lovely site. Very friendly owners. we went for New Year so glad we did. It is a lovely walk (as said before) down into Robin Hood Bay but boy hard work back. If you take a taxi it is £5.00 each way and worth it.

The atmosphere in the bay for New Years Eve was fab everyone so friendly. Great central location to visit many places.

We had friends who stayed in the cottage there and that was beautiful think we would even consider using this ourselves for a treat.

There currently is only one toilet and shower but not a problem at this time of year and was clean and warm.

What a gem of a site. It has only recently opened. The owners were so welcoming and so happy to help.

The toilet and showers were not quite finished but they were very clean and will be fabulous when they are finished.

Amazing views over the sea and whitby.

A very quiet site as it only has five caravan pitches.

There is a tent field opposite the caravan field and this is fenced off of which I liked.

They also have a large field to let you dog run around and this is completely fenced off for safety.

Whitby is about 5 maybe 10 mins drive away.

Robin Hoods Bay can be walked in around 20 mins or so depending on how fit or unfit you are. But the hill back up to the campsite will have you gasping after a few pints in the really nice pub in Fylingthorpe.

Overall a ten out of ten site and I'll be going back in two weeks time for sure.
