Try these ones Peniarth Bach or Maes Dolau or Roberts they all are well kept and are in Conwy so easy drive from the Midlands. If you don't mind going a bit futher a field then then this is a must Brynawelon South of Mid Wales.

If you don't mind being inland then you could also try The Plassey it's a brillant site great facilities for all ages too and one of my all time favourites and really is a short drive!

Whereabouts are you in the Midlands?

oh me too - so there are sites in really easy reach that are worth a visit - The Green at Wentor - 45 minutes great for the weekend.

Townsend Touring Park - near Hereford excellent butchers on site in a nice black and white village.

Abbey in Llangollen is in a great place but the showers are not up to scratch in my view.

We are just back from a great weekend at the Plassey - if you like a site with great facilities but a non commercial feel then you will love it there.  We are going to borrow a friends tent to try out Shell Island later in the year with a group of friends as we've heard so many great things about it, but obviously can't take the caravan and my brother now has my Cabanon.

Hi anna williams, just a quick reminder

As you already go to North Wales , some of those sites around Bala Lake are spectacular .

If you've been going to Shell Island then you'll be used to things not being 5-star quality so you could try Golden Sunset at Benllech on Anglesey. It's one of my favourites and I go several times a year. Great sea views from many parts of the site, just a few minutes walk from the village wheres there's shops, cafes, take-aways etc, and a very short drive or 10-15 minute walk to a great beach
