Nice level site with clean and well maintained facilities.

Quiet location with fabulous views.

Helpful staff at the pub.

Enjoyed watching a steam train pass by!

The food at the pub was fine (nothing special)

Good campsite right besides a by pub and the steam railway!

Good location for exploring northern Snowdonia. Nice views from the campsite. Great to be right next to a pub that did nice meals.

The site is flat and well maintained. It's a shame there's only showers in the field across the railway - but it's also an exciting trip to the shower block! and only a couple of minutes walk.

There's toilets in both fields which is good and they and the showers were good, clean facilities.

The staff are all very friendly and welcoming

The ale which is brewed on site is quality and the food is also lovely

The toilet and shower facilities are kept spotlessly clean and the site and pub are dog friendly, all the staff made a fuss with my sheepdog Merlin he loved it

As someone who is quite heavily involved in the tourism industry I was really impressed with the whole operation

Highly recommended superb

Good situation for walking in Snowdonia.

Quite pricey for facilities. Only 2 unisex loos for whole site 1 washbasin and hand drier only blew cold air, but they were clean.

Pub very noisy, people having loud conversation across the room over our table, great quantity of food but let down by the quality.

Wont be returning.

Nice and quiet but to be expected at the end of September. Toilet little basic and wouldn’t be impressed when site is busy.

Showers across the other side of a railway line (Welsh highland) so not busy were very good.

Nice real ale but more like a club atmosphere than a pubs.

It's not my first time here and I do like it but I do wish they would do something with the washing facilities. There are 2 toilets in the main field, could do with more and showers in there also. The main wash room in the back fields needs renovating, if they were kept clean it would help. 3 nights over Easter, not cleaned once, bins overflowing, mud on floor, no toilet paper.

I note it’s been a while since anyone sent a review. I’m sorry to say that mt review is not a favourable one.

Toilets very basic, old and in need to work. Situated in what looks like old dirty barn.

Showers are over the rail track can only be described as not useable. Very dirty indeed, so bad walked in and walked right out.

Thankfully we were only there one night.

We were on a hard standing, Water close by but there is no drain under stand pipe. Ground is what looks like slate chips, powdery, covers your feet in a grey powder which drags into van. Turns to grey sludge under standpipe. Not pleasant at all.

Rest of site laid to grass and does have nice views, locale is ok.

Pub is a throwback from the 70’s, not a huge deal, but it looks as if it could do with a bit of TLC.

Staff seemed pleasant and helpful.

Not worth the money. Very overpriced at £24 a night for such poor facilities.

Site in lovely spot but food not up to much. Pub also had no atmosphere at all and seemed more like a social club. I quite liked the microbrewery ale but other half didn't, t. Showers across the bridge over the railway line. Basic but adequate

I have very mixed views about this campsite. Our first night at the site was possibly the worst night camping I have ever had in 40 years. But the rest of our stay once we had moved pitches was quite nice.

The pitch we were given initially was right next to the main road into the area. Although not a very busy road, tractors and lorries ploughed down it and the tent billowed every time a vehicle went past. During the night this wasn't great as our heads were only about 3 metres from the road. On the other side of us was a fence and on the other side of it, 2 cockerels and 3 small dogs that yapped the entire night. We got very little sleep. I think it a bit of an insult that the owners of the site could expect anyone to sleep here.

The area is very scenic but this corner of the site was under trees, quite dark and had no view. We quickly realised that we would have to pack the whole tent up into the car and ask to move pitches the following morning.

Luckily, even though it was bank holiday weekend, we were able to move pitches when the pub opened at 11am. The site has two fields - one either side of the railway line. We moved to the field further away from the road. But this field is very boggy and a number of vehicles had obviously been stuck in it shortly before we arrived. We found a spot on the railway embankment that was slightly sloping but not boggy and enjoyed the rest of our trip.

The facilities are fairly basic which is a shame. The main toilet block is not very old but has not been maintained. We saw no evidence of it being cleaned during our 5 day stay so it was quite dirty and in need of some deep cleaning and redecoration. The washing up area has space for lots of information about the area, leaflets etc. But there was barely any.

The pub was OK - the beer was good but there were a couple of large and very noisy family groups who intimidated the rest of the customers. It was very disappointing that staff did not intervene and ask them to have a bit more respect for their other customers.

Having the railway come right through the middle of the site is brilliant and our toddler loved watching the trains come through. But it is an expensive trip out (well over £25 for a return to the far end of the line) so it's worth bearing this in mind if you are visiting.

This area of north Wales is great - but there isn't much within walking distance of the site which means you are always in the car.

Overall, the site has a lot of potential and it's a shame it isn't better maintained. If we were visiting the area again I would not stay here but would look for somewhere with better facilities and views.

Ok overall a great site that could be better, its a great setting in Snowdonia, a nice sized site with plenty of space we paid for electric pitches upon arrival a drunk young coulple had pitches on our pitch and gone to sleep! We went to the pub and the staff asked then to move.

The pitches are large in the first field with good natural drainage, as we were with another couple with young children we were given great pitches 21&22 these were very secluded and had a large area for the kids to play and to park both cars.

The steam rain stops at the middle of the two camping field which the kids loved, the pub is nice and the real ale's are great but the foods not brilliant just basic pub grub!

As other campers have mentioned the cockerel and dog at he back of the site are a pain but bearable, there is plenty to do in the local area and the train that passes though will definitely be something that we will do again.

The main downside is the showers and toilets witch are grubby and basic, they need an overhaul again bearable dbut basic.
