Lovely setting overlooking the River Ouse site facilities are adequate
The pub was very handy for takeaways and dining in excellent food at reasonable prices
Toilets are a fair distance from the pitches and only one water point near the pitch
Ideal for anglers but not much to do for younger children
No shop on site or nearby so make sure you have everything you need

1st time staying there and really happy. Wendy is an absolute gem! She would help you as much she can.
Due to the weather we couldn't stay in the field, so Wendy did accommodate us on hard stand (which are really close to the pub and toilets).
Pub: really good, the food is amazing but they are not accepting dogs, so we stayed outside (it was really cold), but as they do Food take away, we bought the most delicious fish and chips and ate it in the van)
Location: for us, it was perfect, not far from the main road, quiet location, beautiful site
Price: I think they are very honest with their prices
Facilities: it has male and female toilets (when we visits males were out of order due to refurbishment, but never saw a man in the ladies, and believe me, I went many time). They have a small washing up facility, shower which I think is 50p to use them
I saw a washing machine but haven't use it
EHU: they have ehu, but for some reason it did seem very low voltage (but we will bring our van for inspection to make sure it isn't our van)
Would I recommend: a big bat yes

This site is ideally situated for dog walking, kayaking and SUP, however was let down by the cleanliness of the site and it's facilities. There was litter on our pitch upon arrival, which we removed. There was only one working shower, which worked adequately and was roomy. The soap holder was broken and very grimy. If you are showering and nobody comes in the light goes out because there is no movement, not ideal during the day, probably a nightmare if it's dark. There is (sometimes) a mop in the shower, but no bucket 😕)
There is only one toilet in the gents, which was blocked all day Monday. I knocked twice and rang the contact number twice, to no avail. There is only one sink to wash pots, which was grimy, we did not use it, and didn't see anyone else using it.
The rubbish bins are lined up directly outside the showers, pub kitchen and directly adjacent to a bbq area, which looks like it needs cleaning. This is not great to have 4 or 5 huge bins near to bbq, pub kitchen and showers, but they were overflowing and another dozen or so bin liners, some with nappies, not in nappy bags, were piled in front of them all day Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Why the bins can't be placed along the fence, away from the bbq etc, and were 2 other bins are placed God only knows.
I spoke to others who were disgruntled regarding the hygiene, and others who appeared satisfied and came back most weekends, so make of that what you will, needless to say it's not for us, and we won't be returning.

Highly recommend this site, it's just wonderful.
Pitches are large so doesn't feel like you're on top of one another and there's privacy.
On-site facilities where fantastic and clean.
Each reach to the loch and quirky Cafe that's lovely.
Bus stops right outside. We took the bus into york which is a beautiful place. Easy to get there and back. Also recommend the local pub Blacksmiths Arms. The food was gorgeous.
Definitely be returning. The staff and wonderful as well. Everyone was friendly. Very peaceful

Loved location. River and canal too.
Wendy is the star of the pub.
If you like rustic and quirky, this is it.
Toilets sited a bit away from touring field and needs a bit of tlc.
Otherwise all good. 👍

What a fabulous friendly place this is. Wendy is the most helpful accommodating host around, along with her wonderful staff who are so pleasant.
The site is what we expected quiet and peaceful, lovely watching the boats going through the lock.
The restaurant is fabulous, meals will not disappoint anyone, they are huge and absolutely scrumptious.
Overall a wonderful homely, welcoming clean site.

Well, what a hidden gem. Spoke to Wendy the week before to book with no hassle at all.
Arrived Friday late afternoon, told where pitch was, got set up and then into the pub for the best Steak & Ale Pie ever! What a great friendly bunch of people.
Chilled by the river and lock Saturday then back to the pub in the afternoon, performed a bit of magic and then watched the football and had pizza (The pizza's have to be seen and eaten to be believed - A MAY ZING!) Sunday Lunch is also a must!
Facilities could do with a bit of TLC but generally clean and fit for purpose. 50p to use the timed shower which given the higher end price point of £30 per night I would have expected to be included.
Wendy & Team, it was a blast and can't wait to come back soon.

A perfect spot for an overnighter.
Brilliant views of the Ouse and close to the toilets and showers.
Sadly we were too late to have a drink at the pub.
Friendly and helpful people.
Would definitely recommend it.

Loved the view of the river from our pitch which are all grass pitches which can be problematic in wet weather with front wheel drive motorhome unless you have good waffle boards.
Food in pub was excellent, toilets and showers were fine. Wendy was a great hostess very friendly.
My only complaint would be the approach into touring site which had two large puddles of water at the gate which was very muddy and made it difficult to get to site on foot especially with a dog.
Would I go again? "yes"
