Spent 4 lovely nights at this campsite, can not fault anything.
Lovely clean toilet/shower block, 20p for 5 minutes more than enough, 20p for the hairdryer too. Also access to microwave, where there is a spare electric socket. Washing machine/dryer available at a cost, 2 sockets are in this area where you can use the iron/board Easy to walk to village 10min for shop or local bus for york. Or on the main hull road (4mins walk) to get buses in to York. One night we stayed out later and a taxi was £13 approx back to campsite as only weekend for late buses. The site is lovely and you feel very safe. Very friendly too. It has a wee shop on site only open for an hour in the morning and in the evening but if you arrive someone is always on site to open it to book you in. Had visited this site often in the past and we were delighted to return here after a busy few years for us to find it was still a little gem.

We stayed here for 2 nights. It is close to the Grimston Bar Park & Ride so ideal for day trips into York. There is no sign post for the site into Haggs Lane but still really easy to locate using Sat Nav. The site is well run and kept clean and tidy throughout. The wardens are welcoming and informative and the pitches level, well drained and sheltered. Toilets and showers are very clean, 20p shower for 5 minutes on a digital display timer! You can't really fault the place. The peace and quiet on the Saturday night was spoilt by a neighbour riding a noisy trial bike up and down until well after 21:30h which may have been an issue for those with younger kids.
We didn't try the local pub and shops since our stay was simply as a stop-over whilst visiting the city and taking a steam train ride from York to Carlisle, and for this it was absolutely ideal. Thank you Ashfield!

What a great site. Everything that you need is here, a warm welcome and all questions answered. Walked into Dunnington in about 10 mins where there is a small well stocked supermarket, a butchers that does lovely Pork Pies and a good Pub called the Cross keys. We only stayed the one night but the weather was glorious and we enjoyed our stay. Didn't have time to figure out the ease to get to York on public transport but all the information was pinned up on a notice board.

We booked here at short notice for a tent and a caravan. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The site is a real little gem. There is a games room and a play area. Pitches are good size and you are taken to them and shown where all the services are. My marker for a site is always toilets and these did not disappoint, 20p for 5 mins which is plenty of time. Lots of space and always clean. Will definitely go again.

A Very good site, nice and clean well kept and quite. The staff very helpful, A real good country pub in the village of Dunnington. The cross keys food good and good prices, it can be busy Sunday afternoons. Over all a good place for a break. We stayed with me my wife and three children 6, 10, 10 will go back again. York is a nice place to visit and Fairfax house is good for the kids. The jorvik centre is also good but book online for fast track

2nd time at Ashfield and again had a great weekend, this is one of the best sites we have visited.
Check in easy - we were taken to pitch and explained where everything was.
Shower block - very clean 20p for a 5min shower was ample time, nice and hot to.
Onsite shop - good for basics very handy
Little playground for the smaller children.
Aussie BBQ area is a nice touch, but whole site is that way.
Good size field to kick a ball about.
Dunnington is a short drive away with handy little costcutter for tge little extras.
Overall this site is well worth the money.
Will most definitely be back.

Had a fantastic few nights at this beautiful campsite. We wanted somewhere which had all the facilities but wasn't going to be to big or busy, as we have our 3 children who want to be 'independent' and play away from mam and dad, so this site was ideal for us to keep an eye on them. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely fella who directed us to our pitch and explain the facilities plus local points of interest. Throughout our stay we were regularly spoke to by the site wardens who were always visible and keeping on top of the site. The shower block and toilets were spot on and very clean, the washing area was good too and the outdoor Australian BbQ was fantastic. There was a little shop stocking the basics and a games room with 2 sofas, a tv and table tennis table. The location is just a short drive from York and the wife's favourite. McAurthur Glen Outlet. There was a field for tents which the kids could play football in. A 15 min walk took us to the local cricket club where there was a large play area for the kids. And a bar for dad.
All in all I would certainly recommend this site to others and have no doubts we will return in the future.

We found Ashfield by searching on here and what a find it was! The site has a majority of seasonal pitches but there are around 15 or so pitches for tourers and the tent field also. It has to be one of the best kept sites we have ever been on. The grass was well cut and collected (so no walking it into your van). The toilets and showers (3 toilets and 3 spacious showers for each men and women) were spotless. There is also washing up areas and a disabled wet room.
Our son loved the play area, it kept him busy for hours, and he was able to play football on the tent field as it wasn't being used.
There was a room with table tennis, settees, TV and a book library.
The two sets of wardens were lovely, they really took pride in the site, knew the area and made recommendations of good places to visit.
There is public transport at the end of the lane and within a mile there is Dunnington village with a convenience store and pizza takeaway (who delivery to the site)
York itself is only about 5 miles away and a park and ride is only 1. 5 mile away.
Yes there is a hum of road noise that can be heard, but it is not that loud and didn't effect sleeping.
Very good value, even at high season prices.

Me and my husband came to stay at this site recently, we had a wonderful time,
Such a homely, friendly atmosphere. The staff was so welcoming and went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed.
The site is large, clean and kept really well.
The toilets are lovely and clean
And there is other facilities on site that although I didn't use they were all very nice. Including a BBQ area, play area, t. V room and table tennis.
It was a 15 minute drive into York itself but there is a co op not too far from site to get all your food needs, as well as a little shop on site for the things you have forgotten.
I highly recommended a trip to the shambles and if your hungry stop in at the Golden Fleece, one of the local hunted pubs whose food is amazing.
Ashfield site was a lovely place to stay, I will be going back again on the future.

Homely, welcoming and wonderfully friendly
We are well travelled, but this must be one of the best campsite we have ever stayed at. The site is obviously cared for and loved. It is spotless, The heated toilet and shower facilities are kept at a five star immaculate standard
The wash up rooms are most welcome and one even has a kettle, freezer and micro wave free to make use of. The WiFi is free and always shows the strength as excellent and it is. The site is secure and extremely well maintained, grass well kept and picked up to save walking into our motor home. Well placed for lots of attractions, not only York also Pocklington and the designer outlet. Lovely village. Great pubs serving great food within walking distance.
Hagg wood is just down the lane and is impressive at any time of the year.
Doggy friendly, child friendly and even took time to care for and cater for us golden oldies. Sites like this are becoming fewer and far between and that is a sad decline as there is so much more than just providing space and facilities that make camp sites this truly a joy to visit. Thank You, and we will be back. Ps does the shop have milk?. I know it has beer and wine 🙂
