Just returned from a wonderful weekend at this site. The tent field is lovely with the hook ups on the edge leaving a large space for the kids to play in.

Lovely little playground, which another reviewer said, we were happy to let our 4 and 9 year olds wander over to. Toilets & showers cleaned daily & quite sufficient.

Under cover pot washing area (which is right next to the kids playground). Also washing facilities, microwave & kettle for use. A small recreation room with a tv, books etc.

Very clean & friendly site & would definitely visit again.

Just returned from May bank holiday weekend at this site. What a pleasure it was to be there. Facilities are first class and the welcome from the owners second to none.

The site is well run, maintained well and kept very clean. We were in the tent field which is large with good sized pitches all with electric hook up leaving plenty of room in the centre of the field for ball games etc.

It is a walk to the showers and toilets but we didn't mind that at all.

The shop sold wonderful home made cakes which we thoroughly enjoyed.

As other reviews have said there is some road noise from the A1079 but it did not bother us.

We will definitely return to this site.

I have stayed at this park for most of the summer, either by myself or with hubby or with my grandchildren and what a great park it is. The wardens are great, always on hand if you need anything and are friendly but not nosy, they keep the site really clean. The owners are really nice, they always ask how you are. The grandchildren love coming here as there is the playground, table tennis room on the park, the larger playground in the village and so much more to keep them entertained. The village is really nice and there are some lovely walks from the campsite.

I cannot wait to return in 2012.

We stayed here for the Royal wedding / May Day bank holiday weekend and found it a pleasant friendly site, which improved as it became quieter.

The owners and in particular the wardens were very helpful and friendly and despite a mix-up over our booking, quickly resolved the problem without fuss and accommodated our booking.

The facilities are ideal for kids and our 9 year old made loads of friends at the play area and family room with table tennis, sofa's and television.

The office/shop is licensed and also sells homemade cakes. There are three male and female toilet / showers, as well as a disabled toilet / shower, again the cleanliness of these improved as the site became less busy. Nothing against the wardens, just a difficult task to keep up with. As stated previously there isn't a mop bucket handy and this would probably help to clean up after yourself.

We found the tent field perhaps more spacious than the caravan field; which was quite compact with units around the edge and in the centre. There is a Costcutter in Dunnington village and there is a Co-op in Stamford Bridge, although York has all the big supermarkets on the outer ring road at Monks Cross and Clifton Moor shopping centres.

We stayed at this site for 3 nights and found it an ideal base for York and the surrounding areas. We visited the Yorkshire Wildlife park and Rail museum and both were easily accessible.

The site was great with good facilities which were well maintained and regularly cleaned. The facilities and play area are a short walk from the tent field but on the positive this meant you were away from the noise of the play area.

There were 3 showers in the ladies and 2 in the mens, each costing 20p for 5 minutes. We never had to queue for these but I would imagine they might get busy in the early morning.

The tent field was large with good sized pitches and plenty room for children to play in.

The local village has a good pub, Crosskeys, which was recommended by the owner and served home cooked food with 2 courses for 2 people for only 12.50.

When we arrived we had the tent field to ourselves but this became busier over the bank holiday with a few of the tents a little noisy at night.

Previous reviews mentioned road and animal noises but to be honest these weren't really an issue and didn't impact on our sleep, even when a hedgehog came for a night time visit just outside the tent!

All in all I would recommend this site, especially for families.

Just returned from a weekend on this site with 2 kids and 4 adults all told and I have to say we had a great weekend,

Site clean and friendly, nice play area for kids, clean toilet and shower facilities, easy to find and I would well recommend trying this site.

We visited the windmill pub which was rather expensive for beer and if we had turned right at end of lane and gone into D
Dunnington the cross keys pub was supposed to be a lot cheaper but we know this now for our next visit.

The people who run Ashfield were very friendly and showed us everything we needed to know, and everyone who was on the site at the same time as us was chatty and friendly too.
