We had a lovely time at this small campsite. We took four children under 5 and they enjoyed playing on the climbing frames, which we can be seen from a large number of the pitches, meaning parents can relax! The children also enjoyed seeing the farm animals and feeding the ducks. The toilets and showers were very clean. There is a small shop for essentials.
We stayed here for four nights and had a great time. The site is very well equipped with plenty of space for each unit. The pitches all seem flat and the staff were helpful. Unfortunately it's close to a military base and one night there were helicoptors buzzing around all night. We visited a lot of National Trust properties in the area plus it is close to the Cotswolds. The canal is a short distance away with a couple of pubs in either direction, which provide good food. Would recommend it to all types of people as they had separate facilities for dogs and a play area for children. This left the areas around the tents/vans free and very quiet. Well worth a visit.
A fine campsite, with good facilities and friendly/helpful staff.
Toilet block is certainly on the posh side, although the actual number of toilets and showers is too few - over the busy weekend that we stayed there was often a queue.
Football goals in the children's play area went down well with our five & seven year old boys, as did the table tennis in the game's room.
Lovely site, grass pitches are very well maintained and spacious, ours was a bit soggy but they'd had so much rain over the past few days we were not surprised. Slight slope on some pitches so leveling blocks may be required. Toilets immaculate, Staff very friendly, small shop on site with all the essentials. Lovely playground area for the children. Good recycling facilities too. Children loved the farm animals and there's fishing available on site. Security 1st class, it was a quiet site, child and dog friendly. Will be going back without a doubt!
With direct access to the River Thames, this family-friendly spot is perfect for boaters and walkers alike. Tourers, tents, motorhomes and RVs welcome. Site facilities were clean when we were there. A nice touch leaving a little cloth to wipe round the sinks after use. However, there was a notice saying toilet block is cleaned daily 11am to 12pm but in a stay lasting Weds pm to Fri am they were not cleaned. With a bank holiday coming up I hope they stay nice! Only 2 showers in one block, I didn't use one but friends said they were good. Site shop had basic supplies but I guess adequate. Games room was a hit with the children especially the slightly older ones. Park/play area OK.
We were a group of 7 mums and 15 children and we are responsible parents who kept our children reined in when necessary and quiet after dark. However, we understand that the site won't be taking group bookings any more because they have had problems and maybe that explains the way we were treated by the warden. He travels around on a quad bike checking things which is fine but he was determined to find any little thing to complain to us and the children about. By the afternoon of the second day we felt totally victimised and our kids are good kids who were basically just having a good time. Second niggle is the location of the grass cuttings heap/silage pile being right next to the rally field by the path up to the toilet block. Not pleasant and frankly dangerous when it is wet (which it was).
Just returned from a long weekend at Greenhill leisure park. The site is 1st class and the owners Paul & Sam are very welcoming and nothing is to much trouble for them. Shower blocks are spotlessly clean and the whole area is kept wonderful. I would recommend this ste to anyone and intend returning for many more long weekends. If we can get in as its very popular.
I was marshall of a small rally. Our units included motorhomes, caravans and tents with members of all ages, with interrests ranging from fishing, walking, cycling watching the animals and wildlife to just relaxing. This site catered for everyone
The rally field was beautifully kept with plenty of space and electric hook up.
The facilities were spotless and our disabled member was very impressed.
The staff were helpful and friendly at all times.
The surrounding area is lovely and we will definitely be back next year
Would thoroughly recommend this site and would agree with all the other glowing reviews. Toilets, showers and washing up facilities were immaculate, staff all really friendly and there was a nice general ambience to the place. We even enjoyed the decaying “blot on the landscape” in an industrial heritage type way. We pitched near to the play area to keep an eye on the kids but the views over the fields seemed to improve as you moved further up the site. The play area was a good sized field and had goal posts (with nets), a mini tractor and small slide, a basketball hoop and some wooden climbing apparatus. The games room had table tennis, pool, arcade games and pinball and a very useful fridge and freezer. As well as the obvious attractions of Bleheim Palace and Oxford, there is also Cutteslowe Park which is just beyond Kidlington and has play areas, duck pond, tennis courts, walks, mini golf, paddling pool and a mini train ride on occasional Sundays. For beer and BBQ supplies, there is a big Sainsbury’s just before the roundabout on the main Oxford to Banbury Road.
A serene oasis nestled in the beautiful countryside at the base of the Chiltern Hills, just a stone`s throw from the charming Henley-on-Thames. Modern facility blocks, on-site cafe, Wi-Fi, laundry, dishwashing, and children`s play areas. Fully serviced pitches for tents, caravans, or motorhomes. Motorhome service point, chemical toilet emptying machine and dog wash! Enhance your stay with a refreshing dip in the outdoor pool or while away your days at the superbly stocked Fishing Lake. This is the second time we have visited this site, we met up with friends again the same as last year.
Green hill farm is absolutely fantastic, from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave you will not be disappointed. From the friendly owners to the fantastic wardens this site goes from strength to strength. Massive pitches, spotless shower and toilet blocks and superb atmosphere we are already starting to plan our next visit, you must visit it soon.
This is the 2nd time we have visited this site, the wardens and owners make you feel really at home and are there to help if needed. The sites facilities are great with a very well maintained playpark for kids, games room and little shop. With 2 young children you could see them in the park with out having to spend all your time with them. Washroom facilities were very well maintained with constant hot water no matter how busy the site was (as we were there over the bank holiday it was full).
Already booked for the August bank holiday, however you need to book early to get in as very popular.
Ended up on this site by accident as our first choice wouldn't allow more than three pitches together- definitely lady luck on our side as Greenhill was fantastic!
Six couples, 10 children aged 0-4yrs and 1 dog. On arrival we were shown to our corner of the rally field and allowed to position our tents in a way that suited us. The rally field was fantastic, grass was mown and in excellent condition- no thorns or weeds so the kids (and parents) were barefooted all weekend. Despite the site being full we never felt crowded.
The facilities were excellent: toilet and shower block was pristine throughout the weekend, free hot showers, very handy shop in reception for fresh milk etc., brilliant wash-up sinks.
We didn't leave once during our long weekend. The kids were so happy to enjoy the site: playground was a hit, animals to see, walks through the fields down to the river.
The wardens were very helpful and very friendly (even after we were told to quiet down at 11:30pm the first night-sorry!), they worked hard to keep the place immaculate and ensure people had fun.
The only thing that would have been great to see was more recycling facilities- glass can be recycled but we ended up throwing cardboard and cans away. I understand that they may be restricted by Oxfordshire Council though so that can't be helped I suppose.
We all agreed that this was one of the best weekends we've had since becoming parents- we're already booked in for next year!
If you have children and want to throw your car keys in the corner of your tent / caravan for the weekend this is the site for you.
Superb site with the biggest pitches I have seen, we have a 8 man tent with car and we had so much room around us
Shower room are also huge , but I did have to wait a couple of times.
Owners stopped and had a chat and walked round at regular intervals, they let my children feed the animals that are around the site including pigs, sheep, chickens, geese and peacock
Has a football play area with climbing equipment
Not a fishermen but did have 3 lakes that I saw
50 mins off A34 10 mins from M40
One of the best sites I have stayed at already checking calender to go back later on in the summer
The disabled facilities don't have the emergency slert system installed
Fire alarm gets set off frequently in the disabled
In our opinion and remember it's our opinion based on our experience, there was perhaps a bit of policing going on with the wardens. Two separate occasions spring to mind. Over the top I am afraid.
The road down to the site will definitely give your suspension a work out
Door to the shower block watch out you tall people its lowish
So onto the good bits and there are plenty
The pitches are huge, and I mean huge, no complaints there
Rally field with electrics
Tenting area
Electric hook ups worked well
The shower room can only be described as sterile they were that clean and tidy ! the showers are awesome and bearing in mind his lordship is 6ft 8 and could stand under the shower was brilliant. The showers were hot, and well pressured
There is a very big games room with pool tables games machines etc
There is a walk down to the river which we think was the river cherwell.
Not far into Kidlington where there is a Tescos metro and other shops, including take away and restaurants, Banbury 20mins well worth the trip.
Approx 5 mins from the main A34.
So the big question would we go back.
Yes we would go back. Its on our radar for a decent campsite for Oxford / Banbury
