Excellent site! The most friendly staff, nothing too much trouble and they go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable.
Great shower and toilet blocks, a little shop with just the basic essentials you need plus some lovely burgers and sausages from their own animals, though not much else in the way of groceries.
You can see pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, hens plus the two small fishing lakes and an entertainment barn which we didn't use but which would no doubt be a boon to parents on a wet day.
Two pubs serving food within an easy 15 minute walk, one into the village (lovely and friendly, with a very small grocers cum newsagent shop on site) and one past the dogwalk and onto the canal path.
No other shops in walking distance so do arrive well stocked for your stay. We will be back to do some more walking further afield and to get in some more relaxation on this lovely site.
This site is good! The reception staff and the wardens were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.
The owners and wardens have created a site that is very well maintained, with lots of facilities such as a big indoor entertainment barn, and on site fishing ponds.
There are two pubs (both serving food) within a short walk. One pub can be accessed by a stroll on a mowed broad pathway that runs alongside a very busy road without a pavement.
Others have complained about the noise from the trains and planes, but we were untroubled by them.
The toilet/shower blocks were immaculate and the showers rooms were huge with abundant hot water.
The only thing that we felt let the site down were the free-roaming chickens. They left deposits liberally around the pitch.
Overall this site is a pleasure to stay at. Highly recommended.
A large, well-organised, and attractive site, with decent facilities and some nice little touches to make you feel welcome. And really quite reasonably priced too.
There seemed to be loads of space - the pitches for caravans, motorhomes, campers and EHU are enormous !
We felt like we had our own garden - our pitch was edged with hedges and young trees. The driveways were also wide, so you don't feel at all crowded out by your neighbours. On exploration, the tent fields seemed massive and looked as if there was loads of space for children to play.
The grass was very short, and we saw someone out with a ride-along lawn mower every morning, clipping at the grass on any empty pitches. However, the pitches were also quite slopey at the top end of the site - so you need chocks if you have a camper/motorhome.
There seemed to be at least three toilet /shower blocks spread evenly around the site, along with washing up / laundry facilities. I never had to queue for the shower, and was alone when I did my dishes. The shower was wonderful - a whole wet room, with a huge shower head and almost instant hot water.
There is a large indoor entertainment area in one of the barns. It has table tennis tables, pool, table football and quite a lot of arcade style games machines. What I loved was that it also had bookshelves filled with books anyone can borrow, and a selection of jigsaws and board games, with tables and chairs to sit at for enjoying them. This place is definitely sympathetic to wet weather campers, and older children/teenagers. There was also 2 large fridges and a freezer for anyone to use too.
There is a fishing lake, and we saw a lot of families heading up to it with rods - so if you have them, bring them.
For the younger kids, there were animals to enjoy. However, be warned, the chickens wandering around the site look charming, but began to be a nuisance to us. They are very cheeky and invaded our tent and camper van, pooing all over the place and stealing food from the hand of our toddler! We got our 6 year old to spray them with his large water gun - and it was really the only thing that scared them away.
The children's play area has had stuff added to it since the pictures on the website were taken. There is now an assault course which my six year old loved.
This a family friendly site - not especially peaceful or relaxing during the day, because of the animal activity, lawn mowing, nearby railway track and planes flying overhead, but it has a nice atmosphere. It makes a great base for enjoying Oxfordshire and there is plenty to do in the area.
Just returned home having spent two weeks at Greenhill in our tent.
Very generous, flat, EHU pitch on the 'Orchard' field. New shower/toilet block was very close by and kept very clean with adequate washing-up/laundry facilities attached.
The two fishing lakes kept my 11yr old son (and me) occupied for the whole fortnight - My son caught 55 carp in one day in the top lake! With both of us being fairly new to angling we enjoyed being able to fish whenever the mood took and not having to pay anything extra to do so either. We also enjoyed an hour or so's fishing on the river/canal too and saw a couple of barges go sailing by!
Lots of wildlife to see around the lakes too. Ducks and cygnets on the water, chickens eyeing up your bait and red kites, buzzards and swallows overhead.
The site was very well maintained and All the staff/wardens were very friendly and helpful and were always seen around the site busily working to keep the site and facilities to a very high standard. Special thanks to Dave for lending me his socket set just as we were leaving so we could get the trailer hitched!
It was very windy or breezy for most of the time that we there and so would recommend attaching guylines to your windbreaks to avoid poles snapping!
Whilst a little pricier than other sites we have visited this season we felt that, overall, Greenhill provided very good value for money for a family of three. We will definitely return again!
We had a weekend at Greenhill and enjoyed our stay. The campsite is fairly large with several fields some of which are mostly for caravans and others appeared to be mostly tents.
The facilities were very good. The toilets and showers were obviously fairly new and were spotless and cleaned on a regular basis. Each sink even had its own cloth so that you could wipe it down when you had finished. It could possibly have done with an extra shower and washing up sink.
There was a well stocked shop and also a games room with table tennis etc to keep the children amused. In the games room there was a fridge and freezer for you to use if needed. In addition there were two fishing lakes and several different animals including alpacas, goats, chickens and pigs.
The staff were really helpful, even taking you down to your numbered pitch.
Only slight negative was the noise from the railway but it did not spoil our stay.
A serene oasis nestled in the beautiful countryside at the base of the Chiltern Hills, just a stone`s throw from the charming Henley-on-Thames. This is a site I love and am really loooking forward to visiting again. It is a large and commercial site which is immaculately presented. All facilities are very modern and from the high level of cleanliness and hygeine I imagine the toilet blocks (of which there are a few) are throughly cleaned more than once a day. I seem to remember the site was not one of the cheapest, but it is of a high quality with trained and extremely plesant staff. The most memorable thing about the site is the animals as the site is next to a working farm. I was delighted to be able to say hello to the resident Kune-Kune pigs and watch the minature goats play. The area affords a wealth of places to visit, the highlight of my stay there was a visit to Belnheim Palace. A member of the party I was travelling with was suffering from mobiltiy problms following a large operation. He was perfectly well catered for in disabled facilities. Free WI-FI was certainly a bonus to me. This site is perfect but to balance out my review, I must warn visitors to watch out for goose droppings. The resident hens created a nusciance by mobbing anyone who dropped crumbs. I wasn't too pleased to have a dozen in our awning scratting holes and leaving droppings ! I had a fantasic stay.
At reception we were guided to our pitch (non-EHU) on the field area. They allowed plenty of space between other users.
All toilet blocks were close by and the new shower block near the play area is excellent. There was never a long wait for the showers which were spacious and the best showers I've had when camping! Always plenty of hot water for showers and washing up but sometimes too hot for washing hands especially for children.
We didn't need EHU but there seemed to be plenty within close proximity to the hard-standing pitches and also the water points were easily found.
The site was kept very well maintained and clean by friendly staff. The chickens wandering around helped pick up any crumbs too!
The play area was suitable for our 5 year old and had a good sized area for football etc fenced off.
The shop stocked pretty much everything you would need from milk, ice creams to their own reared meat.
Nearby we would recommend the Cotswold Falconry Centre which is about 30 mins in the car away.
Well thought out and well managed site. We had a lovely individual pitch with hedges around. Facilities were clean and tidy, plenty of hot water.
Fellow campers were quiet and considerate. Lovely to have the chickens pottering about.
Shop well stocked and had some nice local produce. Only issue was noise from a freight railway line running nearby and some traffic noise from the A34.
Well placed for local places of interest and near good shopping, eating etc in Oxford. Staff welcoming and helpful.
Have just returned from 2nd. Stay this year. It is a lovely friendly site with only two real draw-backs from our point of view.
The fishing lakes are not usable for disabled anglers. Access to them is uphill over rough ground.
The second is the fact that the sites chickens are allowed to run free on the site. They will enter caravans, tents, awnings, even cars if the doors or boots are left open, and they mess everywhere.
Considering the site expects dog owners to clean up after their pets, surely we should expect no less of the site owners after their messy birds.
We love this site and have used it regularly for the last 3 seasons. We only live a 20 minute drive away but it could just as easily be a million miles away from home. It is our little slice of heaven!
The site is set in a valley in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside. The pitches are exceptionally spacious and the 3 toilet blocks are modern and immaculately kept with enormous showers and unlimited hot water.
There is a well stocked shop, a children’s play area and a barn with pool tables, table tennis and some rather interesting retro games machines like space invaders and pin ball.
There are free range chickens, ducks, geese, pigs, goats, sheep and even alpacas which are really strange creatures and fascinating to watch. We know nothing about fishing, but we see lots of people enjoying the 2 fishing lakes.
This is a family run site and they are constantly improving and adding to the facilities. The family are always really helpful, friendly and welcoming as are the excellent wardens who work really hard and always go out of their way to give you a smile and a wave and have a chat with you.
There are some lovely walks in the area, especially along the Oxford Canal which is adjacent to the site. There are 2 pubs within walking distance and a Sainsbury’s Supermarket is a 10 minute drive. Oxford, Woodstock (Blenheim Palace), Bicester Village (shopping outlet) are all within easy reach.
We would highly recommend Greenhill Leisure Park to anyone who wants to visit Oxfordshire with a tent, caravan or motorhome.
With direct access to the River Thames, this family-friendly spot is perfect for boaters and walkers alike. Tourers, tents, motorhomes and RVs welcome. Grass electric, hard-standing and premium multi-service and RV pitches available. Spacious, modern, heated shower blocks with free hot water, hairdryers and shaving points. There is also a laundrette, park shop, disabled facilities, a book swap library, riverside picnic grounds, slipway, fishing in season, Premium WiFi, childrens playground, nature trail, football goals and outdoor table tennis table. A fantastic base for visiting Henley, Windsor, Legoland and more! We have just got back from a very enjoyable stay at this campsite.
The toilet blocks were very clean and the shower stalls are enormous! Lots of hot water, at no extra charge.
We all enjoyed seeing the chickens wandering about, the fat Kune Kune pigs and the goats, and especially the alpacas which had just come back from the hairdressers. They should ask for their money back!
Our dog enjoyed the dog walking area.
The service in the shop was very good, and friendly. In fact all the staff we met were helpful and friendly, so the management team must be doing something right.
We ordered a chinese takeaway, which was delivered to the site, very handy.
To sum up: a good site, with very good amenities. Not cheap, but good value.
Greenhill is a lovely green site. Very well laid out. We were pitched in the Top Field, which is the 'closest' field to the railway line - although that is still a number of fields away. Yes there was a little noise from the number of trains on this line, but certainly not enough to bother us.
The toilet & shower facilities (of which there are two, with a third due to be completed soon) were spotlessly clean and nice and warm too. Water pressure & temperature of the shower was good too.
Nice little field for children to play in with goal posts, activity area and a small slide for little ones. Also a games barn complete with arcades (50p pinball/£1 pool), table tennis (bats provided and balls available to purchase from the shop) plus books to borrow.
On site shop too, with a good range of well priced provisions - including fresh eggs (20p each) from the free-roaming chickens.
Just returned from the late May bank holiday weekend trip from this delightful campsite. Staff were beyond helpful and were escorted to our pitch by a wee 4x4.
Pitch which was clearly marked out with metal posts large enough for tent large porch extension and car,(by the way there was no extra charge for awnings and porches. We were in the bottom field which was level and very large but a little exposed to the winds which came gusting through the fields opposite with very little shelter.
Windbreaks are a definite must although this was an unusually blustery weekend wherever you were camping in UK.
The toilet facilities were immaculate as were the washing up sinks, sumptuously large and spacious. This is a great place for family with snooker table, table tennis and tabletop football not to mention numerous arcade games lining the games room (don't forget to bring your balls as mentioned in other review).
Football field, children's play area and climb on tractor. In the games room is a communal fridge and freezer for those of you with a trusting disposition, and info wall full of leaflets and helpful notices. The on-site shop was surprisingly very reasonably priced with food and camping accessories ( and plenty of tall windbreaks if you happened to forget yours!).
All in all a first rate campsite my only disappointment was having to cut my trip short as tent poles eventually succumbed to the battering winds and were strapped with duck tape and a very wet Monday forecasted so decided to cut my loses and leisurely pack up on the beautifully sunny Sunday evening albeit a very windy one.
Will definitely be returning to this campsite but with a more sturdy Outwell tent this time!
