Well me and my friends did go back for a 2nd time, and what can I say even more tranquil than last time. We were very lucky last year when we went to this campsite with the weather as we had a mini heat wave, this year not so good on the weather front but still had a good time. Gareth the owner is very pleasant at all times, and ready to help with any problems you might have. The pub is a 5 minute walk down the road, which serves fantastic food, has a separate pool room and jukebox with good mix of old and new music, which of course me and friends loved. The actual campsite has 2 main fields, the nearer one with an electric hook up and next to the showers and toilet facilities. Which were kept spotless at all times, I cannot fault. The far field which me and friends stayed in, was peaceful next to a lovely little stream which we all had a bit of fun in, great for the kids. Gareth also didn't seem to mind us having campfires which many campsites obviously don't allow, but this kept us warm, and was nice to toast marsh-mellows on. The site is also right next to Bala lake railway, which we went on 1 day, and again is well worth the money. Bala is about just a 5 minute drive from the campsite, and is a lovely little town, with a lake that has all sorts of water sports and Bala itself has all the local shops you would need. Would recommend this campsite over and over. Many thanks to the owner.

Having spent yet another weekend at this excellent site, we would like to say thank you to Gareth for making our numerous stays so enjoyable and relaxing. It's good to see that work has already commenced on extending the existing toilet / shower blocks - including facilities for the disabled. This should ease any problems during the high season (though we've never had a problem!) Great site with great facilities and surroundings! We will definitely be back .again and again and again! Thank you!

August 2005 Visited at BH weekend and as expected the site was very busy. Lots of tents down by the river and also a Caravan Club rally in the adjacent field. We thought the hardstanding pitches were a bit cramped especialy if you put an awning up. Our pitch was right by the station & we got to see the little engines regularly. The site owner was very friendly and helpful and full of knowledge of the surrounding area. A must for scenic drives is the road called `Hellfire Pass`that starts just a few hundred yards from the site. The weather was generaly kind to us and we had a lovely long weekend stay.

August 2005 Excellent friendly site, very quiet, spotless toilets but could do with a couple more in high season.
We chose the station end, with toilets close by and electric hookup, without the kids we would go down by the river, away from it all.
An ideal base to explore the bottom half of Snowdonia, or, with a bit more driving, the north end as well.

July 2005 What can i say, probably the best campsite i've ever been to and i've been to a lot What do i love about it:
The facilities are fantastic, toilets are spotless, gorgeous shower facilities. The owner is really friendly and couldn't be more helpful. Me and a few friends went late july and i have to admit was one of my best holidays ever. The campsite has a lovely stream at the bottem, surrounded by mountains, lots of nice walks nearby. And right next to bala lake railway. With an exellant Cafe right outside the campsite.
A superb pub 5 minutes walk, with a pool table, good food, and a music jukebox. with really friendly staff.
Already planning another trip back to bala in september, because its such a lovely town, with a gorgeous huge lake, great views, and good facilities, such as swimming pools, restraunts, pubs serving good food.
Of course we'll be staying in the same campsite. Tranquility at its best. Congratulations to the owner for running such a superb place

August 2005 I stayed at this excellent campsite for a few days so that I could do some walking in the area. It is a lovely site in a very tranquil location beside the beautiful Lake Bala. The campsite is right next door to the Lake Bala railway and steam trains run from the campsite into Bala itself. The village of Llanuwchllyn is quite small, but has a shop and a nice pub called The Eagles that does good food. Bala is a little busier, with shops, supermarkets and several pubs.
The campsite itself is a little on the small side and one family that arrived whilst I was there had to find another campsite because their (admittedly rather enormous) tent wouldn't fit. The campsite had two toilet blocks - I only went in one which had a single shower, single toilet and a sink to wash dishes in. The block was kept spotlessly clean. Although there was never a queue for the facilities I could imagine it would be a little crowded on a busy weekend. One word of warning - the toilet block had a extremely bright security light that came on at night as you walked up to the block. This was brilliant for me as I was pitched about 100m from it. However, it can't have been fun for the people pitched right next to it!!! The site seemed to plenty of taps for drinking water and electrical hook-ups, and all the pitches were tidy and level.
Directly from the campsite I managed to walk onto the Aran Mountains, and the trip up to Aran Fawddwy (which dominates the view from the site) took about 7 hours there and back. I also drove to Cadair Idris and had a walk amongst more stunning scenery there. I'm already planning to use this site again as a base for more walking in the area.

July 2005 Lovely weekend at this small site (22-24). Gareth is so friendly and helpful. Split into two sections one close to the steam railway station (not a problem at all more an added bonus) and shower/toilets, the other quite a walk away but even better for views and peace and keeping the kids amused in the river, and there is a portaloo on this far site! Even tho there was a party of 8 lads there Gareth obviously knew what he was doing because they were no trouble - unlike some families on other sites I've been to! There were 3 showers avail (in separate locations) but never had to queue, plenty of hot water , all clean. Downside - all the bent pegs from the rocks!

July 2005 The first thing you notice once on site is the fantastic views and scenery on offer around the site, they are simply fantastic.
I stayed at bwch-yn-uchaf for 4 nights with 7 friends (all 18 year old lads) and we had a great time. We stayed alongside the on site stream and swam in it day after day such was the good weather. The site is right next door to a Steam Railway Station which takes you into Bala for £7 return, this has its own cafe which serves a good selection of baps and cakes along with plenty of souveniers.
The pub down the road (Eagles Inn) serves excellent food at reasonable prices it is very friendly towards tourists and has a pool table and dart board.
Across the road from the Eagles is a small Post Office open every day except Sunday.
There is a bus every hour to and from Bala and the last one back to the site is 11:10 so a night out in Bala is easy to achieve.

March 2005 Very friendly site. Very quiet when we were there - just the way we like it!
Would highly recommend the campsite and the area. Perfect base for exploring North Wales.
Only 2 toilets so perhaps wouldn't fancy it at the height of summer! Pub nearby very good and many good pubs in Bala.

August 2004 The site owner Mr Jones couldn't have beeen anymore helpful, He owns a beautiful small site where the true beauty of Wales is all around, We had a great stay, spending many days just enjoying the walks, and the streams that leave from the camp, theres a lovely pub within easy walking distance is a small post office / shop and a lovely pub. The camp it self has two toilet and shower blocks both of which are kept spotless. There are good size pitches and pently of space for children to play. We will certianly be visiting again.

August 2004 Fantastic!!!!!
Peaceful, clean, and a real warm welcome...
That is before you mention the location and beauty of the surroundings. A real haven, the kids loved it and we will be returning again on a regular basis.
This is a fairly new site and Gareth the site owner is keen to keep his clientel happy, the facilities are good, and visitors'sugestions are more than appreciated. There are village amenities within walking distance, shop, pub etc. The Eagle does serve good food if you feel the urge to treat yourself!!
We had a great time with plenty to do in the area, Barmouth and Porthadog are only 30-40 minutes drive away through breathtaking scenery. Many other attractions are accessible in less than 30 minutes by car.

August 2004 An excellent site - great thing really can come in small packages!! Facilities were clean and well lit at night. The miniature Railway is right next door, ideal for visiting the lake. Gareth was very helpful (he recommended the local pub, the Eagle Inn I think!!). We shall definately visit again - next time we won't forget the footpump (thanks to the couple opposite who saved my husbands life!), or the midgee repellent. Even the sun shone - BRILLIANT!

May B/H 2004 This was a small but beautiful site, it was quiet and peaceful and had outstanding views, the owners were friendly and always stopped to chat. Although there wasn't many toilets and showers they were exceptionally clean and well maintained, the steam railway was a great day to visiting Bala for a day out. I will be visiting this site again. Excellent.
