We had an excellent week at Budle Bay campsite in July 2012.
Toilet and washing up Facilities were spotless and well maintained from one day to the next with lovely hot water at all times.
The playground was well maintained as were the roadways and pitching sites.
The Wardens were extremely helpful and very friendly and approachable.
Very quiet surrounding area excellent for birdspotting on the estuary.

Arrived Fri 13th for 2 days with my husband and 2 children aged 9 & 7. Warden very friendly and helpful, lovely location with beautiful places to visit nearby/bays. Play area great but more suitable for younger kids, however we all loved the rope swing over the stream, and because the site was not busy the kids had freedom/space to play ball on large grassed areas which were not taken up. Showers hot and clean, toilets clean. Would visit again.

Campsite dry /pleasant. Wardens jane /alan friendly/ helpful. Directed near childrens playground /rubbish bins, children noisy not peaceful.
Rain arrived. 10.30 til 3.30 am torrential rain no sleep. River far side of campsite, warden tapped on tent at 4am, police advised evacuate campsite immediately, river bursting banks.
Access road completely under water. High tide in bay. Campers congregated in cafe, highest point, free tea /coffee. Cars moved to high ground. Wardens reacted admirably/no panic. Fire brigade attended to monitor river levels / flood situation.
Nobody could leave campsite access road flooded, too dangerous. After 5 hours level dropped and danger avoided. Flash flooding is unavoidable.
Access road open about noon. Flood water drained away quite quickly though some pools of water remained. Some campers left some stayed. Peace returned.
Budle bay campsite offers reasonable facilities, showers need updating no temp control. Toilet block ok. Improvements in 2013 new toilet block/showers and tarmac access road warden informs us. Good site in better weather bamburgh /holy island /seahouses.

Booked 2 nights. First night party was 3 tents - 5 adults & 9 children. Second night due to be two more tents with another 18 people. On arrival, the managers Alan & Jane were clear to advise of the Amber Weather warning, so gave us clear evacuation procedures. They were calm and in full control.
The tents pitched on the gorgeous site next to the river. Lots of space for the children to play cricket - great toilet/shower block, small playground, indoor room with TV and kitchen area. Perfect.
3. 30AM Saturday morning, Jane came to wake us for evacuation. Alan & Jane had stayed awake all night keeping an eye on the river. The firemen and police were there to make sure we were all safe, and Jane & Alan calmly and patiently made sure we were safe and warm. We were then stranded as the exit road was cut off due to flooding - the worst in the area - so we spend all day at the site.
I can't recommend this site more, not only is it hidden away and beautifully situated, but the managers were just unbelievable. We all felt safe and calm, which in a crisis is one of the most important things.

Arrived on Friday to a warm and friendly welcome. Nice freshly mown spot for our 2 tents.
Problem came as we had forgotten the plugs for the airbeds - luckily our hosts were happy to provide us with spares.
Shower block, toilets and wash area are clean but basic.
Very welcoming and friendly hosts who were very good to the 4 little boys in our party.
Very close the most beautiful coastline in Britain. Would definitely come again.

Booked a new eco tent 4 weeks ago and were pretty shocked to be told when we arrived that they were not fully completed. Obviously having travelled 3 and half hours and being half term so little space available anywhere else we were stuck and had little choice but to stay. Glad we did, We were welcomed warmly by site managers and with huge apologies for the facilities that they were not able to offer, no kettle, fridge etc as should have been available. Big problems with electric, tripped out when anything other than light switched on. The eco tent itself was warm and dry, although 'rough round the edges' literally, needing a sanding and proper finishing. Campsite still gives air of building site but showers hot all day, toilets usable but did tend to run out of paper fairly regularly. Toilets did block up and flood but seemed to be ok after septic tank emptied, perhaps to be expected after jubilee weekend. Site managers always available and ready to help any way they could, no close local shops so need to be prepared, good location for spectacular scenery, beaches and walks. Good, basic site for exploring area but not if you want upto date facilities and to stay on site all day.

Just back from Jubilee weekend at Budle Bay campsite. The site is wonderfully situated with a stream running down one side of it which the kids made the most of. The wardens are friendly and welcoming.
The only real let down was the toilet / shower block (5 showers and there must have been over 200 people there for the jubilee weekend and only two dish washing sinks which often had queues). There was hot water at times but unfortunately not any of the times I had a shower. The toilet block needs upgrading desperately and this is sadly not reflected in the price.
Fab weekend with great company but one shouldn't spend the whole time talking about the toilets!

We, completely unaware of Bank Holiday that weekend, came all the way from Holland and were unable to find any site for our tent. These wonderful people from this camping gave us the best possible spot on the site (nice and quiet) and made us feel at home from the very beginning. We even decided to stay two days longer. If I must have any criticism then it would be the small number of showers on the site. However, the hospitality made up for that a hundred percent.

This was our first experience of camping with some wonderful people and wonderful wardens Jane and Alan. We stayed Saturday to Tuesday.
Weather fantastic, kids had lots of fun!
Would have given this site a much better review if it had not been for the blocked drain in the toilet block that caused a flood on floor and the lack of paper hand towels and toilet paper. The campsite was so busy that when we used the shower cubicles the floors were dirty and there was not any hot water!
Hoping that this sort out these issues as otherwise would have been fantastic.

The site itself is very pretty, with lots of trees and good flat pitches. It's also in a fantastic location. The hosts were friendly and probably doing their best to ensure people had a good weekend.
We visited during the jubilee weekend, the site was crowded and the facilities were inadequate for the volume of visitors.
The toilets were dated and filthy. Waste bins overflowed and the floor was flooded due to a blocked drain. Toilet rolls were not replenished. Also there were no sanitary bins in the female toilets. The showers were either scalding hot or lukewarm.
We paid extra for our dog, but there were no facilities for dogs (poo bins). This could be a fantastic site if the owners invested the thousands of pounds they made over the jubilee weekend in a new toilet/shower block, and employed enough staff to keep facilities clean.
