Perfect location for visiting all the beaches in the area as well as Bamburgh Castle. Great flat field for camping and even in August it was not crowded. The owners were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Hired an OS map from them for a £1 which was a great idea. Showers nice and hot and toilet facilities in good condition. A very relaxing and unspoilt campsite that I would definitely return to, as there is still so much to see in this beautiful area. Thank you for a wonderful 3 days.

I have just returned home with my two children and dog after two nights in an 'Eco shed'.
After camping here last year I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the showering facilities had been updated. What a difference it makes! It's a lovely site and Allan and Jane are always welcoming and helpful. The Eco shed was great, all you need is your bedding. So much easier than putting the tent up! There's a kettle and light inside, with ample electricity sockets and they actually sleep 5. I loved the fact that there was a little work area inside and a table and benches. On the extended decking area there was a garden bench and enough room to store chairs/toys etc. The weather was amazing but beware. The sheds have no shade at all so bring a parasol!
There's a new washing up area which is a massive improvement on the last one. The showers were clean, powerful and hot! I actually enjoyed my showers there! The sheds are nice and close to the facilities and there is also a shed which houses a fridge, two gas hobs, microwave and toaster for use by shed residents which was really useful, it means that you don't have to bring your gas stove. If I had any improvements to suggest it would be to put some hooks up inside the sheds to hang towels etc. , maybe a little mirror (a luxury I know!) and to tidy up the area around the outside of them, we picked up lots of nails and screws which could have caused some damage to feet or car tyres!
All in all a great stay, we will definitely be back. Probably in an Eco shed!

After a 10 day trekking ( Hadrian's Wall Way followed by the St. Oswalds Way) I arrived at the Campsite.
Seldom I was welcomed more friendly than by the owner and her husband!
My friend, who could not finish the walk all the way, had arrived earlier by taxi and had the same experience.
Because of his illness we had to decide to have our evening meal on the site.
As there is not a campsite shop we were helped by Jane and Alan from their personal stock.
They refused payment and even a bottle of Ale for me ( They are not allowed by law to sell it) was given me freely.
It made me feel humble and I appreciated it enormously.
The campsite is situated beautifully and showers and other facilities were obviously recent improved and were very good.
More improvements are on their way.
I would like to give some constructive criticism but I can't.

The site has a countryside setting and feels so spacious. We were in a touring caravan but what a fantastic site for tents too. Excellent tent areas.
The facilities were clean and there was plenty room in each shower which I liked. Water was lovely and warm.
I think the friendly couple have worked hard to upgrade this site and are continuing to do so.
It is nice when owners/wardens take such interest and pride in a site. You can often tell this by littlle bits of planting going on etc.
I think due to this site perhaps being a bit run-down in the past and now becoming so improved it is a bit of a hidden gem. I always thought when we looked around it in its darker days it had so much potential so I am so happy to see it like this.
This site had a nice atmosphere. Very relaxing. I didn't want to leave and will be back.

Had a fantastic Easter break at Budle Bay Campsite, what a lovely place, by a stream, near to Bamburgh and surrounding attractions. The Warders were friendly and helpful and kept a clean well organised and friendly site, we shall definitely go again, probably lots of times. Toilet block really clean, grounds we'll kept, lovely for children. Beautiful open countryside around and easy access to A1 which meant we just picked it up and bombed up and down to Lindisfarne, Seahouses, Berwick, Alnwick, Craster, Amble, the list goes on.

On our arrival at the campsite we were welcomed with big smiles and hand shakes the owners who are very friendly let us choose are own pitch by the stream, only because we arrived at the very beginning of the season and the campsite was a bit empty, which did not matter to our party as there was more space to play our outdoor games with the children.
Are party consists of 4 adults and 6 children aged for 12yrs to 2yrs the children were always occupied either by playing in the park or looking at the resident animals they have a pony some sheep, chickens and the most well behaved pigs George and henry.
There is plenty of green spaces for the children to run round in and I felt safe knowing no matter where they were I could see them at all times its a very safe place for young ones felt at ease the whole weekend we were there.
We pitched up next to the stream and we asked if it we possible to paddle in it 'of course it is' said the owners great news as the weather was hot and the children loved it kept them cool all day, even had a dip myself.
There has been some major works on the toilet and shower blocks all looking and running great the place is spotless and smelling fresh, there are plenty of showers in the block with HOT water and places to hang your clothes the blocks are cleaned daily between 11 and 12. I don't have a bad word to say about them well done the owners they are a credit to your site.
The sinks outside for washing dishes has also been improved there is 5 new sinks all working really well, there was no smells of the sewers anywhere on site as the whole of the toilet block has been connected to the main sewer line up in the next village which is great news for everyone because some pitches are near the block.
There is a co-op supermarket in Belford 5min drive from site so if you forget anything or run out its very handy, the prices are just the same as the normal co-op so no need to worry.
There is also a nice country pub called the salmon which does nice pub meals or if you fancy fish n chips there is a chip shop right across the road from the co-op which is very nice indeed.
We had a great day out at Bamburgh beach which overlooks the castle it was a bit windy but that's because of the time of year we went, it did not bother the children they loved it paddling, rock pooling collecting shells we were there for a good few hours.
The owners were very knowledgeable about the area and were happy to help and direct us around, their reception doubles up as a shop selling just a few bits like milk sweets and gas bottles if needed, as we went in April it was a bit cold at night and one of our children complained in which the owner offered to borrow us another sleeping bag, which I thought was very nice thanks again for that.
The holiday overall was great everybody enjoyed themselves especially the children, we have already booked are next visit at the end of may bank holiday can not wait to see everyone again and this time we are taking a big bag off apples for George and henry the piggies, see you, s all soon thanks again for the hospitality love Joanne and family. Xxx

Having had a great time here last year and being in the area once again, I decided to stop in for the night. However as they were a few days away from opening for the season I didn't get to stay.
I was allowed to have a bit of a look around though. The owner has obviously taken on board the comments of visitors on websites like this one and done some major work on the toilet/shower block. They have had a major facelift. It looked 100% better than last year though the test will be in how they work in practice.
The Wardens, are still there(great!) and were as welcoming as ever. The site has obviously had some major landscaping done in places too as there were bare earth patches here and there. I asked Alan about these and he gave me a long list of the stuff the owner had done over the winter including connecting the toilet block to the main sewer in the village. So that explains the need for landscaping then! He did say that the bare parts had been seeded and will be fine by the time the summer comes.
He showed me the new pellet boiler and the verandas and road for the ecosheds. There is more hard standing areas than I remember too and I noticed a new raised terrace had been made under the trees close to where I camped last year. I stood on it and it had great views but my large tent wouldn't fit on it; more for two man tents me thinks.
Shame it was closed but I will look forward to coming back in the summer when the grass has grown, the sun is shining and I can try out those new showers after a long day on Bamburgh Beach!

The welcome at Budle bay was second to none. It was our first time camping and we had the tent sent to the site for us. The owners were incredibly helpful in setting us up for the most fantastic holiday.
The facilities were OK, and they were frank that they need to be spruced up, which is promised this year.
As a very dog friendly place which attracts really friendly down to earth people it is a great place to base yourself to enjoy the Northumberland coastline.

We have just returned from a fantastic few days away at Budle Bay camp site. It was our first visit to the site and also to Northumberland. We really enjoyed our visit and will definitely return. The site is lovely and very well looked after, yes, the facilities need upgrading, as has been mentioned in previous reviews, but, they were still clean and adequate and the showers were lovely and hot. The site managers were lovely and were only too happy to help.
The area and near by beaches are stunning, we visited Bamburgh and Seahouses and also Berwick upon Tweed. The Copper Kettle cafe at Bamburgh is worth a visit and they have a garden at the back which allows dogs.

Being newbies to camping (although not to camp sites, had caravans in the past), the wardens on this site were fantastic! Gave a very warm welcome, we were shown where all facilities was, offered help setting up and said if we needed anything/ advice just to ask.
There is a children s play area, showers & toilet block, a small shop at reception selling essentials like Bread/ Milk and there is a COOP about 3 miles away in Belford open from 7am till 10pm that's stocked very well. With a couple of Pubs in the village to, The Salmon pub is very good!
The site is surrounded in trees, very nice area, very close to Bamburgh and Sea-houses with lots to do in the area.
The only negatives to this site is the shower/ Toilet blocks, these are in much needed updating and the owner really needs to spend some money, the showers were nice and hot, however they smelt damp as the showers blocked all the time, flooding the floors, there was only 5 showers for the whole site with no area to hang stuff/ place stuff safe. The toilets were ok however there is no where to hang stuff up when washing etc.
Having said all that, they were fine, it was not such a hardship and very clean.
Overall the placing of this Site & Wardens made up for anything wrong about this place! I will definitely visit again!
