I agree with most of what has been said in the above reviews. The scenery is beautiful but the site can be expensive; the crazy golf is a bit steep at £2 per head, and the pub meals are far too dear to feed a family. The pub drinks are not cheap either - a small glass of red wine, pint of Guinness and 3 kiddies' lemonades came to exactly £7.

The pool is small indeed - a sign limits maximum capacity to fifteen people, but someone commented that if 15 people got in at the same time there'd be no room to do anything but stand shoulder to shoulder! Therefore one has almost no chance of being able to use the pool - certainly not for a swim.

I agree with the comments about the showers - there are simply not enough of them. Queueing to use a shower is a real pain and quite a few people in the line simply gave up and went back to their pitch! Also teams of cleaners would appear and close the shower units for cleaning... IN THE MORNING!

Our pitch was only a few yards away from a water tap, which initially we thought was nice and convienient... until we realised that kids cannot resist regarding taps as toys, and kept turning them on! They didn't realise they were doing anything wrong - even when they could see they had made a little stream which was flowing steadily towards our gear! The little 'darlings'! :-)

We went in August - don't expect a lie in. If the Dawn Chorus doesn't wake you (4.30am) the woodpigeons calling to each other might (5.15am) and the peacocks, walking in and out of the pitches, threaten to deafen round about 5.45am!
Avoid Great Yarmouth and Caister beaches; the great thing about Norfolk is that it is dotted with deserted beaches. Simply head for a town/village on the coast. We found a great little beach just south of Waxham, one at Horsey Corner, and there are loads more. And you must drive through California, just to say that you have!

The previous reviews accurately describe what is an excellent camp site.
It follows the modern trend of charging for anything over 2 adults rather than per pitch. This resulted in us paying £21.50 per night in high season, which I feel is a little on the steep side. The dog cost us £14 for a week and similar for each child.
The toilet/shower/washing up facilities were creaking under the strain of a full site and it was necessary to queue at times for all of these. Another block would ease this.
I wouldn't want to put you off though. It is a good site, well located for the Broads, the Coast and Norwich with friendly, thoughtful owners. It's design means everyone has a degree of privacy. You will not find better in the area.

Excellent! We were only there for the one night but incredibly impressed. We had been camping all over Norfolk and this is bay far and away the best site we went to.

The setting is brilliant; each little "site" is surrounded by pine woods. Each pitch is clearly defined and they are far enough apart to be private.

The shower blocks are excellent - I would recommend this site to anyone!

Just got back from spending 5 days at Clippesby. We have four small children and enjoy our own space. We were located in the 'The Dell' section and it was absolutely wonderful. Toilets/showers are cleaned twice a day in the peak season so they were spotless most of the time.

Pitches are large so you're not packed on, the scenery/woodlands are superb and due to the way it's all been laid out the surrounding noise levels are generally acceptable.

Outdoor swimming pool is heated, it does get a little busy at this time of year and it's not ultra big.

I would say this is 4* camping and it reflects in the price - approx £20 per night for the average family in peak season. Although this reflects in the cleanliness there and the backdrop/scenery and size of pitch.

Only thing that could be increased is the size of the main play area (which is set well away from the pitches).

The site is full of gentle slopes so bear that in mind when putting your tent up on the pitch as a gentle slope can turn into a stream with heavy downpours - they do get localised weather systems there!! Fortunately most of the pitches are large enough to be able to find a compromise on angle.

This is the second time for me and my family at Clippesby and we plan to drop in for a few days again next year.

Would totally recommend the site to anyone looking for good/clean/realxing camping.

Only second time ever camping so not sure what to expect! Found the campsite after a little difficulty (due to bad signs), but on first impressions site was lovely. In reception there were plenty of local leaflets, maps etc. The owner welcomed us and gave a map of campsite and explained how to get to pitch, he told us that a guy would come around to make sure we were ok (after explaining we were complete novices!).

When we first got the pitch we couldn't believe how lovely it looked, kind of closed in slightly with a spot under tree's for the car to be parked (just like our own parking bay!), but on reflection due to the fact the site was an old orchard, we were on quite a slope. This only became apparently one night when it poured with rain, we got some water intake but because of the slope the water kind of ran in one direction through the tent!

Our pitch was close to the playground and toilet area’s as I’d requested this on booking, on reflection next time I think a little away from the playground will do – this was only because at night the teenagers came out to play – and boy can they shout! We also found the playground wasn’t really catered for the younger child, our son is 5 yrs old and I wouldn’t have felt comfortable letting him play on any of the equipment alone.

We visited the on site pub which was lovely, with seating inside and out, we looked over the food menu but decided the prices were quite expensive so never ordered there. There is a room off the pub which has arcade style games for the kids, some were really old and found we either lost our money in them or as with one car racing game – it had no pedals! There was one pool table but there seemed to be a steady stream of kids playing on it so never got a look in!

Also on site – where reception is, you’ll find a ‘miniature golf’ or ‘crazy golf’ course, at £2 per person we thought it was quite dear – you can go around again for half price afterwards but with 18 holes I found the first round quite enough!

The onsite shop (also situated at reception) had basic requirements for food; they sold homemade jam and marmalade, which I highly recommend! But on our first night we realised we didn’t have a gas bottle regulator – I’ve been told that some campsites do stock small items like this, but the next morning we had to drive out (with good directions from the owner) and found the local DIY shop. We also found that local places (such as Caister-on-Sea which has a beautiful beach) were close by, Caister also has a big Tesco and on Sunday’s a local Co-Op if you miss the bigger store closing at 4pm.

We did venture into Great Yarmouth on the Saturday, not to the seaside but to the local shops – as we’d forgotten some vital equipment (double airbed and double sleeping bag!), so we headed for the nearest Argos and purchased everything needed. Great Yarmouth has adequate parking facilities and a nice outdoor market, if we do head up that way again, we’ll definitely revisit the beach at Caister as it's probably less well known than Gt Yarmouth!
