We booked this site only as a stop-off on the way back 3 weeks in the Cairngorms and Highlands, but could have stayed a lot longer.
The site is very quiet, even though it is just off the road, and dark (great for stargazing). It is on several levels and we were lucky to be on the top level with views across to the Angus glens and mountains.
Facilities were all fully open (unlike some other sites on our trip) and well maintained.
A great location for exploring an area which deserves more attention.
The Montrose basin is stunning.

Site is lovely and quiet, with well drained pitches (we were there for a couple of days of massive downpours and the only big puddles we saw were on the edges of the internal roadways). Most of the caravan pitches are gravel.
The camping field was at the bottom of the hill but still drained well. It's a fairly steep short walk from the camping field to the rest of the site (including toilet block).
The hookup points all have a tap so fetching water was easier than any other side I've ever stayed at.
Unfortunately there is only a single grey water disposal point which was the opposite side of the site from us. Wifi is provided but didn't reach us on the camping field.
We visited in summer 2021, with some Covid restrictions still in place. The toilets were fully open (each booking is provided with a single key to the block), masks to be worn indoors, and extra cleaning materials and hand gel was provided. The warden was very helpful and reception was set up outdoors for ventilation.
There weren't many families there, mostly older couples - possibly partly because they weren't really accepting tents at the time. The playground is very small, aimed at ~5 year olds, and isn't actually within the site - it's beyond the back gate adjacent to the neighbouring restaurant.
Still, our 9 year old enjoyed cycling the gravel paths and there were at least a few other kids around.
The site is dog-friendly with a short dog walk path provided and easy access to a wider network of paths.
Forfar is around 2 miles along a 60mph road from the site and has all the usual facilities including plenty of takeaways and a big supermarket. There are lots of tourist places to visit within a half-hour drive (Montrose, Dundee, Lunan Bay).
There is what appears to be a nice country park / petting zoo opposite the site but it doesn't accept dogs. Balgavies loch a couple of miles east of the site is a nice circular walk (only about 1. 5 miles) with a bird hide, plenty of wildlife and some industrial archaeology (old railway station).

Friendly, helpful & accommodating staff.
Very clean, tidy, quiet & spacious site.
Wonderful facilities.
Did not use the neighbouring restaurant but it looks nice.
Handy for walking & cycling of which some of it is through the edges of the fields.

I’ve reviewed this site only last year and standard remains high. Hygiene remains to the fore just now and everything spic and span.
Just to update, two cabins for rent and extra landscaping are new features. Restaurant (off site) closed Monday Tuesday just now.
Weather may be deterring some but the site is reasonably well filled.
We are here for a week before heading to another gem - Woodlands at nearby Carnoustie.

Easy to find, check in simple. Lovely quiet site, very well spaced pitches. Landscaping nice and tidy, looks recently done.
Toilets and showers clean and nice to use. Sinclairs restaurant very close and do takeaway meals!
Will visit again.

This was our 2nd visit during the post - lockdown period.
The site was well set out to keep visitors apart with a one way system set up.
Very clean all around and felt safe to be there.
Good restaurant behind the site.
Difficult to rate child friendliness as none on site
Some services closed due to Covid and people encouraged to use their own if possible

As stated in several other reviews this was a very peaceful stay and absolutely ideal for getting to the many hundreds of walks in the area and into the Cairngorms which is well worth a visit. Dog friendly and again ideal for taking dogs walking.
Shower blocks warm with plenty of room in the shower areas. Only one tiny comment - would perhaps benefit from a shower curtain to help avoid water spreading into dressing area. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
Difficult to leave a rating for child friendliness as there were no children on site while we visited. However, a plus point is definitely the child size toilet seats in the ladies. Making it much easier for mums and toddlers. So score based on that alone.

Was pleasantly surprised by the facilities on this site, in particular the hygiene standards during the Covid pandemic.
Staff were friendly and helpful both via email prior to our visit and then on-site at check in.
Will visit again and would recommend!

Great site with lovely views. Super clean facilities. Restaurant next door was good, very expensive wine tho!
Excellent walk into Forfar directly from site through picturesque fields. Friendly staff.
