Website looked brilliant, so booked away, looking forward to a great weekend away.
Large camping field which was flat and club house etc. However, our pitch was what felt and sounded like being on the A27 itself! was very noisy and constant however it did drown out the noise of 'bonkers' being played till 4am.
There are two toilet blocks, which could do with modernising and a very deep clean, they where blocked up on a occasions and not many compared to how many campers there are. Oh and some toilet roll would be good. However out and about the campsite was lovely, some lovely beaches, harbours etc, Fantastic food at The Lamb pub in Pagham!
If you are looking for 5* facilities you won't find them on this campsite.
However if you're happy to take it as you find it, this is a reasonable site.
The shower and toilet block desperately needs refurbishment, although cleaned twice daily they quickly ran out of toilet paper, soap and hot water, the hand dryer was broken and there are no electrical points to use a hair dryer etc. Could have had a bucket and mop in there as shower and toilet floors got very wet and grassy.
Nice enclosed grass and play area for younger children.
Electrical hook ups around the edge of the site which is nice as you don't have anybody behind or in front of you. Good spacing between plots.
Didn't use the cafe but the shop stocked all the essentials with fresh bread and papers daily.
Outdoor swimming pool and clubhouse both okay.
Although being next to A27 soon got used to the constant drone of traffic.
Campsite quiet by 10:30
Well situated for Chichester, Bognor,Portsmouth. For a lovely sandy beach try West Wittering.
Just returned from a 2 night camping trip. We joined friends that had gone day earlier.
Only 2 hour drive from home.
Reception staff was very helpful in putting us next to our friends as EHU. Site was very clean and grass cut. Shame about the toilets and showers, although they were cleaned, I know I waited 45 mins for the cleaner to clean at the busiest time. No toilet paper in the evening and during the night.
More showers and toilets are needed for the size of the touring field.
The bins also need empting more as they were overflowing when we were ready to leave.
The road (A27) was very busy at night but didn't keep us awake or our 12 week old grandchild.
This could be a great site but is let down with the washing facilities.
Please increase more showers & toilets and could you introduce a family washroom. I would even pay to use a family room, say have a key.
Would like to return to this site but would worry if field was full as the facilities would not cope.
Oh my goodness - how I wish I'd read the reviews before I travelled over 300 miles to get here. I booked a tent pitch with electric with 3 other families and we were sited together. That and the weather were the only positives.
Despite having a huge central field the electric hook up pitches were around the outside of the site, right next to the very busy A27. The traffic noise was unbelievable - and constant. Perhaps a name change to Roadside would be more appropriate.
The toilets and shower block were appalling, dirty, filthy, cobweb and dead insect strewn. It looked like it had been left uncleaned for a long time. Loo paper was a luxury item. At one point there were food napkins left on the cisterns instead of toilet paper - I don't know if it was left by staff or a caring camper or how it affected the plumbing.
The washing up area had no bin in it for waste food and dirty sponges, so sinks were blocked with bits of food and the blackened sponges were piled up around the sinks - gross!
This site must take in a huge amount of money and so they could afford to have cleaners attending the facilities on a much more regular basis.
The site was a huge disappointment but it has made me much more careful in checking out campsites for future holidays.
Just returned from a 4-night solo trip, and found the site to be more or less the same as previous years (I went there every July since 2006 with my late partner as part of a big group), except the big shower block in the Touring Park is definitely showing its age.
The washing up room and the shower block could really benefit from a deep clean.
There were only a few us on Sunday night, and the light in the main shower block was not turned on, so I ventured to the other toilet block further away, and it really needs an upgrade and deep clean.
The water was hot and plentyful, so no issues there.
Hardly saw any staff after checking in, except ground staff, and I did see a lady going into the shower block to clean.
The shop appears to be well-stocked with basic food stuff, can't remember seeing any camping gears though.
I did not try the cooked food at the cafe there so I cannot comment.
Dogs are not allowed into the shop/cafe or the bar/lounge areas, which is no good to me, as I do not wish to leave Borda hooked up outside.
Did not fancy swimming so I did not try the pool.
I wanted to cancel my originally fully paid-for 3-night weekend next weekend, however, they were asking for 40 GBP cancellation fee, so I moved it to the weekend before and paid for an extra night instead.
I had EHU and was able to have my favourite pitch. Not difficult as it was not busy at all.
I returned to this campsite knowing its less desirable features, however, the road around the touring park is excellent for cycling for me and Borda, and we did 4 or 5 laps every day. That alone made me decide to return.
Although dogs are meant to be on leads all the time, myself and other fellow campers would let our dogs have a little run around the non-EHU field as there was no one about. Usually only one dog at a time to avoid any fights.
The A27 may be too noisy for some, however, it beats pouring rain like the one we had on Saturday night!
There are shops close by, Sainsbury, Lidl etc., and a camping gear shop about 1.5m away in case you need provisions and gears.
Bognor Regis is about 6 miles away, a pebble beach, quite a nice stroll, except dogs must be on leads and not allowed onto the beach in certain areas.
I went to Chichester last year with my late partner, and found it to be a nice city.
All in all, an ok campsite, not spotless, however, I have been to worse.
Was very short drive into the lovely town of chichester. Had fun renting a rowing boat to take a trip down the canal (it was only £6per hour per boat)
Was right on the a27 so was awoken a few times when noisy lorry's went past- but it didn't spoil my weekend.
The touring field was spacious, although only a few of us there so well spread out. Nice level pitches- no set boundaries, we were told to pitch where we liked as long as it was 3 metres from any one else. The toilets and showers were okay- but could have done with a little more attention on the cleaning front. But they were hot, and had the all important space to put your clothes down.
Good washing up room, 3 sinks. Play area & outside pool.
Never saw any staff- as arrived after reception had closed and paid over the phone. We got a daily mail deal so don't know what there prices are to rate it on value for money.
Came to this site 15yrs ago, it has changed a lot. Touring field now pushed into the corner right beside the main and noisy A road.
The warden guy was very helpful.
The toilet blocks where dirty most of the time despite being cleaned, the kids from the statics were playing in them, often they threw away all the toilet roll.
We had a long walk to the shower block no showers in the toilet block nearest to our caravan.
The shop had barely anything on its shelves.
Reception not at all helpful when I ran out of gas I got to the office at 5pm to get some gas only to be told sorry cashing up we closing now, but the warden gave me a gas bottle and said settle it up in the morning.
Pitches where waterlogged when we arrived we had massive puddle outside our awning.
We stayed in this 'holiday park' for 5 nights which included the Bank Holiday weekend (we left on the Monday).
When we arrived, the field (non-electric) was great and we could choose where to pitch. The toilet block wasn't that great, with only 5 toilets and tiny-weeny shower cubicles where you can't put anything down. It's not what you would expect for a 'Holiday Park' but the camping hierarchy loomed and we thought it was ok for a few nights.
The 'clubhouse' was nice and so was the pool.
The problem occurred when we arrived back to our pitch on the Friday afternoon, the field was over-crowded, there was no room left but there were queues of cars waiting to come in. And this continued through Saturday. It felt dangerous with tents pitched on top of each other with no room for cars. The rains had come too so what little ground there was had been churned up by the never-ending stream of traffic.
The toilet block was disgusting. 5 toilets, 5 showers for hundreds of people. They weren't cleaned the whole weekend, it was vile. There were no plugs at the washing-up sinks either, and these were also filthy.
It was noisy and busy at night. The road noise was pretty bad anyway, but added with the people-noise made nighttime unbearable.
Never again. The park squashed as many as they could into a small space, with few facilities.
Stayed at Lakeside over the August Bank Holiday (Friday to Monday).
We arrived around lunchtime when the field was still fairly empty, but by the evening there must have been around 300 tents crammed onto the field (maybe a metre between guy ropes in some cases).
What really shocked us were the facilities - to pay £21 per night you would expect to find clean toilets and showers with hot water. What we found were: ladies (5 toilets and 5 showers) & mens (3 toilets, 4 urinals & 4 showers) these were the only showers for the whole field. There was no hot water or toilet paper on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Worst of all was the cleanliness, or lack of of it. We found what we hoped was mud on the floor and walls, sanitary products left, urine and used toilet paper on the floor. Yes, this is in the toilet and shower area. On Saturday night you couldn't even use the sinks as they had all been blocked. We gave up on them from Saturday onwards, and had to rely on a strip wash in our tents. It was clear from the amount of spiders and webs full of dead insects, that proper cleaning of the facilities had not occurred for some time, not even a token effort in preparation for the crowds they must have been expecting for the busiest weekend of the year
We did report the problems, but were told that no one else had said anything. We found this hard to believe as everyone was complaining about the same things.
We arrived at lakeside to be met with a very friendly welcome, we were told to find a pitch, we were a mixed party of two tents and a motor home and were very grateful to be squeezed in (booked 10 days in advance) on what appeared to be the busiest bank holiday of the year. There was a definite hap- hazard approach to pitches with no intervention from lakeside staff. The paddock which was the children's play area fast became the latest non licensed camp site. Numbers soared and the facilities were inadequate to say the least. Only infrequently did I find toilet roll. Dirty shower facilities with queues beginning at 6 am all to feel dirtier than when starting! Lots of signage stating children under 10 should be accompanied by an adult, there was a total lack of enforcement of any rules resulting with my nearest tenting neighbour partying hard until 2. 45am keeping all involved awake well into early hours again with no intervention from lakeside staff! I was the person (single female with two young children) that challenged the loud partying youths at 2. 30 am. The road noise on the first night took some getting used to but that was forgotten on the second night due to the noise mentioned above! On the third night Some people banged on the side of my tent at 2am and stole the tent pegs from one side of my tent. Things seemed to disappear frequently.
There were some goods points, the club house, entertainment, cafe and shop were all good. The main problem was an over worked warden for the amount of ' happy campers' I didn't speak to one single person that thought the camp site was problem free, it was a general opinion of all that I spoke to that the site needed a serious review of hygiene and rule enforcement. This review probably sounds a bit strong but I would like to point out that despite all the above issues because we were a large party we still remained staunchly British and had a great weekend! I feel that the this site could be different at a less busy time
