I was disappointed by this site. The site itself is very clean with great facilities, showers were hot and toilets ect were clean. The pool was nice and included in the price. Pitches were nice and flat but unmarked so nobody knew where to pitch up. The biggest let down of the site though was a large group of people on the site who were obscene and loud untill early hours of the morning. I would not recommend ty mawr purely for this reason. Such a shame as the site is very nice as is the surrounding area
Stayed here over the bank holiday period 4 nights 24th to 28th august. After reading previous reviews was a bit scary. We arrived at 11. 30am booked in easily but beware no space on carpark for cars and caravans, had to park at side of road; lots of traffic especially busy because of bank holiday, and was told either The warren or The meadows field. We choose the warren as was near the park, as we had 2 children with us age 10 and 6. Finding space was easy, good layout, water point easy accessible but got very wet and muddy (not enough mats down} or drainage.
The showers and toilets were clean and well kept and it was busy on site fully booked. The elsan point was easy accessible and so was the washing up facilities. Ground level but in places grass a bit bare could do with a bit more up keep, there is a swimming pool with a flume the kids loved it, an arcade and 2 bars the sands which was excellent for the kids madness and mayhem a hit, although the beer prices are a tad dear, its a good night out with the kids. We also went for a meal in the farmhouse, well what an experience that was under cooked garlic mushrooms cold inside, got a refund though lol.
There's a chippy on site we had chips every night on the way back to the caravan, they were good and only a £1. 00 a cone. There is also a shop, its ok a tad expensive though on some items. The arcade has up to date gaming machines.
There is also quite a few security guards. To which were very friendly, and patrolled the park on regular occasions. All in all I would give the site a 7/10 for the entertainment, price, and hospitality although we had a few mishaps we all enjoyed ourselves and would return. Oh and Towyn is a great place, and easy access from the park. There is also a market called tir prince within easy walking distance near the fair this holiday has lots to do for everyone young and old and we definitely will be returning.
Stayed here beginning of month in a tent on non electric tenting pitch. Close to toilets which were kept spotless all the time which was a credit to the cleaner. Great club, something for all ages, good shop
Central to Rhyl, Pensarn and Towyn. Arcade for kids etc Security patrolled at night. Never managed to catch the chip shop open. Plenty of space between tents.
Office opened at 9 am and only took ten minuets to get signed in. Kids loved the pool, nice and warm and a nice little water slide.
Could get busy at bank holidays as was busy on a normal weekend, but it was a cold weekend. Overall we can't fault this site
When I visited this site it was during the very bad weather, I was given the opportunity to view the fields before I accepted my booking as some pitches were water logged. We stayed an pitched up near the shower block, which were kept clean and well stocked throughout the day. The entertainment block on site could do with some upgrading (doesn't look as nice as on the pictures) buts its a great site for kids. My son loved the outdoor playground. The pub on site did a family meal deal which was useful if we didn't want to cook. There was a lot of other sites close by and it was only a short drive to the nearest supermarket.
I stayed at this site for 3 nights with my wife. On arrival we were told there were 2 fields we could chose from so we chose the Warren as this field was not as open and there were 2 shower blocks to chose from. As there had been lots of rain over the last few days there were lots of puddles and uneven pitches anyway we found one just a short walk from the shower block with our EHU close by. Shower blocks were clean but could do with an update.
I can not comment on the swimming pool as we did not use it but it looked ok. We went to the club house a couple of times, the entertainment was good but was more suited to families with young children. Drink prices were a bit expensive £3. 55 for a pint of Fosters when across the road a pint is only £2. 50. We did have a meal in the Old Farm House which was good and the prices were not to bad too.
All in all this is a great location for exploring north Wales and a cheep getaway as we only paid £11 per night.
Booked in for 2 nights Jubilee weekend. Arrived to be told there was 2 sites to camp on we drove round both, people just pitch up everywhere all on top of each other. Eventually we found a spot and set up camp. The toilets and showers were portacabins which added to the refugee feel. We went to check out the camp and noticed how close the caravans were to one another, some were for sale for £20, 000. ! The playground was about the best feature and our 6 year old enjoyed a quick play there. As the night went on it just got worse, drunks shouting. Loud music, police helicopters overhead, swearing (our daughter learned some new words I hope she never repeats), tent so close we could hear next door snoring. To the finale at 630am to the worst fight I've ever heard in public. With the weather not helping we decided to leave first thing. I suppose its not the parks fault its the clientèle. We won't be recommending or going back
Arrived and booked in to be told we could look at 2 fields to pitch in, we picked the Meadows as it was closer to the dog walking area, plenty of room. Showers and toilets were spotless and showers were very good and hot. Lovely area and great location to visit plenty of places. Cant review on the club and pool as didn't use these, best fish and chips is Robs Chippy, turn left out of the camp and keep going down that road and its on your left. Nice beach just by the Asda. Wouldnt stay during school holidays though, got very busy on our last day due to the kids being off, not that the kids were the problem, more like the adults. But over all was a lovely holiday, places to take a visit are Swallow Falls, Fairy Glen, Great Orme.
Me, my friend and her 3 year old daughter have just got back from a fantastic weekend at Ty Mawr.
We arrived at 7. 20pm and a security guard outside the arcade directed us to the bar, where we checked in. We were given two fields to choose from. The Warren was full, so we went in the Meadow which had loads of free pitches.
The toilets were clean, always had toilet rolls, and showers were lovely and warm.
There is an on site chip shop which was nice.
We went in the bar for the 3year old and she loved dancing in the kids club, and the arcade was huge.
We had a lovely time, and would definitely return as the price was great 28pounds for 2 nights with EHU.
Booked this site, as only site which would allow us to pay and stay two nights only over may day bank holiday, very reasonable price of less than 40. 00 for 2 days with E HU
On arrival easy check in at reception, shown map of camping fields and left to find own pitch. Even though late afternoon on bank holiday Saturday no problems finding EHU pitch n meadow field. I didn, t find pitches too cramped
As stated by previous reviewer showers and toilets in portaloos, both were clean and plenty of hot water.
Large entertainment complex on site, free pass for this and also for pool in included in pitch price. Plenty to keep kids entertained. However bar prices are expensive as are snacks.
Beach is about 10 mins walk away, access through caravan park opposite via high open steps or stairs to bridge across railway line. Beach was pebbles.
Security good, visible security doing rounds at late evening and ensuring no loud music after 11. 00 pm.
Site was clean and facilities were ok. I'd advise you to wear your swimming costume under your clothes due to the limited number of changing rooms. Toilets and showers were clean and maintained throughout the day.
If you're camping I'd check the ground where you are pitching, I was sick of finding dog muck around the area we pitched in. Site security were always visible, but failed to deal with a group of people who were revving engines, honking horns, playing loud music, and causing a general disturbance at 3am.
Stayed here for 3 days over the easter week-end, pitches were very close due to being fully booked, a small number of pitches were a bit bare and needed some attention. The childs play area seemed ok, swimming pool no charge was a plus. The toilets and shower areas were clean with hot water, the entertainment is mainly for the kids. To visit the Sands club you have to pass loads of ammusement & gaming machines, Coco's entertainment area is a bit tired looking and needs refurbishing. The bar prices in the sands club are very expensive ie £3-45 for bitter and £3-55 for fosters lager
Stayed over Easter weekend, not a site I would go back to. We paid £30 per night, £20 would be about right for a bank holiday. On arrival we only just got off the main road, only really enough room for about 4 outfits to park near reception, I would say organised chaos, but without the organisation! People trying to get in with others trying to get out. A large site with statics, tents and tourers. Pitches not numbered but told to pick any pitch we wanted! Not very professional attitude. It has a swimming pool but not very big considering the number of people on site. Toilet and shower facilities were the porta cabin type, clean and tidy with ample hot water but not big enough for the people on site. Porta cabin facilities not really acceptable for £30 per night. Club house a reasonable size with 2 entertainment rooms, entertainment on the 1 night we went in was basic. The reason we only went in 1 night out of 3 was the price of the drinks. £3. 55 for a pint of lager and a small children's Slush was £2. We went across the road to another site and paid £1 for kids drinks and £2. 50 for lager.
Had my caravan on this park for 8 months. The toilets and showers clean. Security guards around but unfortunately there has been a few people who are noisy up till 3am shouting etc!
Had meals on site which were very nice and the grandchildren love the entertainment Sparky and Sparkle also madness and mayhem very good. The pool was warm and clean.
Area great for cycling along coastal track safe for children and near to Llandudno etc. The beach is better at Pensarn or Rhyll.
Definitely going back next spring for the swimming and cycling and also the bingo which is linked to all the parks.
Went here for a quick weekend as its not too far to travel, its not the usual kind of site we use and now remember the reason, very very commercial, simply there to make you spend money. Arcade machines, tacky entertainments, expensive food and drink not really the place for a chill out weekend
Pitches were ok, nice and level although when looking around at the piches I can imagine in high season the place been a bit tight for space around your unit. I can also imagine the cement floored toilet/shower block getting messy.
Each to their own but not suited to us
