This site is exactly as the description says. Lovely little campsite, great for kids. All tents are pitched around the outer of the field and the kids play area and football goal is in the middle. Where ever you are pitched, you can see your kids. Toilet block two showers and two toilets. Never queued. Ten min walk to the beach, ten min walk to shops and train station where you can get to loads of places. The owner is on site most of the time and one of the friendliest chaps you, ll meet, chilled out, not strict. Would stay here again and prices are cheap enough.

Cannot recommend this site enough. Very relaxed, clean and friendly. Best site ever visited. Very local to shops and beautiful coast line. Lots to do locally and train station 10 minutes down the road along with a superb cafe with a fantastic range and prices. Owner recommended a pizza delivery and it was the best and very reasonably priced. Well done Joe, we love you, family and site :-)

Just returned from a week's stay at The Barn Campsite. First time visit for me, but I will be back.
I had a holiday (great weather - dry, sunny and warm - which helped) ending in Brighton Pride festival on Saturday/Sunday. This site was great as a base for all of this.
As other reviewers have said, it's not the easiest site to find (up what looks like a farm track, and tucked away at the back of a housing estate in Lancing) but it is well worth it once you arrive.
Lovely, open grass field. Lots of families there when I arrived, but the kids played in the centre of the field without causing any bother - plenty of room for them, with tents, caravans and motorhomes pitched around the edge.
Facilities are basic - only one loo (plus urinals) in the gents - but kept very clean by the attentive and friendly owner (Joe).
Very convenient for public transport. I used the train every day - ten minute walk from campsite to station, with trains very regular. Only 15-20 minutes into Brighton. Other campers said that they had used the bus - great for those with free bus travel passes. However, the main bus along the cost road (no 700) is run by Stagecoach - this service isn't covered by the weekly SAVER ticket for the Brighton & Hove buses. The SAVER works out at good value (£18 per week on the Key card, slightly more if you buy a 'paper' version from the bus driver).
I met some other campers who have been coming to The Barn regularly (some have used it as a base for Brighton Pride previously). They all spoke highly of the site, and I feel likewise.
Will definitely be back - for Brighton Pride 2015, if not before!

We found a little gem when we came across this little campsite right on the south coast close to the sea great for cycling really flat
Plenty of designated cycle ways running both ways to worthing/brighton
Lancing town was short walk with small asda and many other shops
Local public transport was close with train and bus short walk with a motorhomes public transport is a plus when you have a bus pass its even better with buses running almost every 10 minutes
The site itself was a grassy and fairly flat on many site you tend to have to level you motorhome with ramps and we had no use of them here.
The owner was very friendly & helpful
Electric hookups situated around the sides leaving large open space for children to play ball games etc.
The facilities were very clean large toilet/shower cubicles what I would consider family size.
There was also the bonus of free wifi covering the campsite
All in all a great little site we will return

Site has a decent free shower block, free wifi and a children's climbing frame, full size goal posts for those who wish to use it.
Site is dog (on a lead) friendly, pitches are placed around the outside of the field are flat as can be expected.
Nearest neighbours are horses, ducks and the occasional passing swans but watch out for the magpies! Great for plane spotters to as near the local (light day time) airfield.
About a half a mile walk to the sea and main bus along the coast, around a 3/4 mile walk to supermarket/town shops. And mainline station (for Brighton&Hove or Worthing)
No laundry or shop on site, and only cold water to wash up with so not for glampers!
Overall a nice place secluded away with friendly hands on owner.
Will be back !

We needed a caravan site, for a week, in the Brighton area, with access to the City and being close to the sea front. After doing our homework on UKCampsite.co.uk, we settled on The Barn at Lancing.
After a phone call to the owner( praised in many reviews) we booked a week from 28th June.
Deposit paid by BACs transfer and awaited our holiday.
What a wonderful time it turned out to be. To be fair you wonder where you are going down the narrow lane, especially with a 23’ caravan, but need not have worried. We had called the owner on the Friday to see if we were able to arrive mid morning ( early start to miss the M25 traffic), not a problem.
After a 3. 5 hour journey from Leicestershire, the owner was waiting for us and gave us a choice of pitches and then advised us on the best orientation of the van, for the sun. Which shone every day as an added bonus.
The field is slightly undulating in places, but plenty of scope to pitch how you want. The grass is cut regularly and the owner takes great pride in his site.
We were at the top end of the field, nearer the entrance, with a water tap nearby. We also had a toilet near us, which was convenient, along with chemical and waste water disposal.
The electricity connection was right next to the pitch. This is metered and requires £1 coins. BARGAIN of the year ! We only put 3 coins in all week and had fridge, kettle, lights, hairdryer etc on when we needed them. Other sites take note- you are overcharging, with a fixed fee ?????
The shower block was never crowded and cleaned daily, with plenty of hot water for a shower. There is only a curtain not a door on the shower, but never a problem.
The owner is a really genuine guy and around every day. Always a friendly word, without being too intrusive.
Giving sensible advice about the area and means of travelling about, especially into Brighton.
The station is a leisurely 15 min stroll from the site. £4-80 each return, off peak. Way cheaper than the car for a couple. £20-25 to park in the centre ‘otherwise.
We walked down to the beach(all pebbles and shingle) each evening (8 mins) then went either right towards Worthing of left towards Shoreham. A pleasant stroll, as the sun set along the wide flat paths.
On our first day we did hear and see the light aircraft taking off from Shoreham airport, but soon realised that you do not notice it at all. Generally a very quiet site at night,
The easiest shop for a morning newspaper is approx 1 mile away. Left out of the gates, down to the sea front and left. A convenience store is on the corner. Easy parking in the side road.
There is an Asda next to the station, for all your groceries (15 min walk)
Free Wifi ( another bonus) good TV and mobile reception.
Overall a really relaxing week’s holiday and we would not hesitate to recommend the site and will return one day.
Next time we go we will take our bikes. Lots of flat easy riding, either way along the sea front.

1st time at this campsite, little gem. The owner is a nice guy, and seems to go out of his way to cater for his campers. Very peaceful. The climbing frame and goal net in the centre of the field makes sense as parents can see their kids playing. If only more campsites were run like this. Would visit again if in the area without a doubt.

If all you are after is a peaceful, well-run, basic campsite close to the beach and downs then this fits the bill perfectly. Its a fairly big flat field with toilet and shower blocks which are clean and well maintained. There are some other facilities playground, electric hook-ups, wifi.
The owner provides bricks for portable BBQs and recycling facilities. The site is accessed via a tarmac lane just off the coast road (a259) short walk to pebble beach
Lancing town close buy with all the shops you need there's a asda newsagent takeaways etc
Local public transport is very frequent great if you have a bus pass
There were only a dozen or so staying at the time but plenty of space for more
We will visit again

This site is well located to access nearby resorts
Good recent shower block, lovely to see horses nearby, site owner very approachable and helpful guy. Definitely returning here, thanks for a great stay.
Shops rail pubs restaurants all nearby.
The beach is a five minute walk, the town is 10 minutes walk and has all you would normally need.
Our stay was at a quieter time ie kids were back to school. An enjoyable stay.

Just spent an enjoyable weekend at The barn for the shoreham airshow and had a great time. The site was very busy but was expected due to the good weather and the location for the air show. Although the site was busy I had no problems using the toilets showers. The site is a grass site with some newly planted trees down one side and electric points dotted around the tents/caravans are set up around the outside leaving a large open space for ball games and children to play with great visibility witch is good for peace of mind.
The site is close to the town but has a country feel and is very peaceful at night.
The owner is very helpful friendly and freezes ice packs in the office.
The town of lancing is a short walk less than a mile and has all the shops you need asda banks newsagents etc
The beach bus and train is also close by.
We will return next year for airshow and possibly before

I have stayed at this site several times this summer and found it to be very well run friendly and accommodating. The site is clean with excellent facilities and even access to free wifi.
The site pitches are located side by side in a giant circle to provide clear views and plenty of space for kids to play.
The location is very peaceful both during the day and at night with the town and beach only a short 10 minutes walk away.
I would recommend this site to both campers and caravanners every time.

The Barn caravan Park Lancing. Loved it! We came as a small group of family and friends from Reading for the weekend. First time here although we have family on the doorstep we never knew you existed - One of Brighton's best kept secrets! Great little camp site, spotlessly clean! So easy to get into Brighton. The owner is a great guy that takes much pride in his site. Thank you for making us all so welcome - we will be back! (hopefully without the rain next time)!
Perfect for family and friends, great quiet little site. Very laid back and friendly. See you again soon!

Just returned from a 10 night stay and had a fab time - would highly recommend! Joe (the owner) is normally out and about but not in your face, everyone were really friendly. Kids played out every day, very nice safe site. Toilets and showers are huge and very clean, horses in fields - very peaceful all round. Sea is a 5 minute walk, asda and village 10 minute walk - park round the corner is fab and very dog friendly, all enclosed. 5 minutes in car is brooklands park which has outdoor paddling pool, go karts, crazy golf, little train, etc. Lots of buses and trains running regularly - can't wait til next year :-)
