Just returned from 8 nights at The Barn campsite.
A quiet, spacious site. No frills, but very clean toilet block, always hot water for showers, small play area in the middle with enough room for ball games - well away from tents and caravans.
The owner is very friendly and helpful.
A pebbled beach is only a short walk away. Lancing is fairly close with shops, including Asda, and a train station. A good location for exploring the coast by bike, car or train.
Good value for money, and an enjoyable stay.

Just returned home from a weekend stay at the barn with my young family.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable time in a spacious tidy and friendly camp site.
The owners were very welcoming and were always on hand to help out any time of day.
The site is well planned out with a playground in the centre so we could watch our children easily and the shower and toilets were very clean and good size.
It is well placed as close to bus stop, train station and taxi rank, also has good selections of shops and cafe and is close to Worthing, shoreham and brighton so lots to see.
The kids loved the pebble beach that I was only a ten minute walk.

We have just returned from an enjoyable 2 night stay at the barn. It is fairly small, although we are used to visiting much larger sites and also it is in a residential area, saying that if you camp along the back fence you get lovely views over the downs. The large pebble beach is only a 10 min walk away and the local train station lancing is a 10 min walk away. We stayed at the site as we wanted to catch a train into brighton, without the hassle of trying to park. It cost us £9. 00 return for family of 4 and was about 5 stops, 20 min ride. Needless to say the kids had a fab day in brighton. There is only a small toilet block at the site, with showers big enough for my young daughter and I to shower together, which made life easier and although the campsite was full, we never had problems using toilets etc. We were camped very close to the next person but lots of space in front. All in all a great find if your looking to go into brighton its very good. We wouldn't choose to stay here for long stays as we personally prefer something bigger and more rural. Having said that we have stayed at bigger sites and been kept awake at night by larger groups, The barn is a very quiet site and infact we were probably the last ones up on saturday night around 10. 30 ! I would also say its great for younger children and familys.

We have just returned from a 9 nights in our tent at “The Barn Caravan Park” and have to say that we loved it. This was our second stay on a “Certificated” site and we were really impressed.
You can see why the site was awarded “Certificated Site of the Year for Families”. Our 2 year old loved it and we felt totally safe, as the play area is in the centre of the field and the tents and caravans are all on the boundary.
There is free Wi-Fi, which was great, as we could entertain my son with videos from You-tube whenever we wanted.
The new toilet and shower block is great. It is well appointed and regularly cleaned. There is also a double sink to wash your dishes and a vending machine for cans of pop.
The site is very flat and just near to the Shoreham Airport, so during the daytime, you can watch the small planes fly past. At night, there are no flights, so you can get a peaceful sleep.
I highly recommend this campsite, especially because of the owner / manager who was excellent throughout. He ensures that the site is run very professionally and really looks after you, as his guests. From arriving at the campsite when he let us choose our pitch to when we left, we felt so welcome. There are also no restrictions or extra charges on the size of tent or for canopies etc which is also really appreciated.
We will definitely be back. Thanks!

Just home from another happy stay at The Barn. It's a well managed site, ideal for families as all pitches have a clear view of the play area. Showers and loos are kept clean and well maintained and the manager is always friendly and helpful. The railway station, local shops and the great pebbly beach are just a short walk away. It's a great base to explore the local area or to enjoy a bit of peace and quiet.

Just spent the last weekend at this site. Had the best time! owner is the nicest person very friendly and helpful. As it was just myself and my 8 year old daughter he helped me reverse onto pitch after we walked round site choosing the best one! every day he made a point of saying hello and making sure we were happy. Toilet block was very clean and the playground and open space was perfect for all the children. We are definitely going back to this site as its only a ten minute walk to the dog friendly beach and like I've said the owner is very welcoming

Site manager is helpful informative and a great guy he is always around to tend to your needs.
This is a great site and will definitely visit again worth every penny.

Just stayed at this campsite for a family camping trip good location close to worthing and brighton. Lots of space for playing games in centre of campsite with pitches located around the outside there is also a nice wooden climbing tower and football goal. The showers and toilets are lovely and clean. We also made great use of the communal bbq's. Beach is very close as is the train station and local food shops.
The owner is very friendly and helpful checking round regularly
The site also does icepack freezing which was very handy with the hot weather

A lovely friendly site close to the coast and within easy walking distance of the railway station and shops in town including a moderate sized Asda. We were here for a long weekend and visited Brighton for a birthday party and found it to be a great location for this and exploring the area.
The owner had plenty of time to chat and check in on us all and genuinely seems to love his site and everyone who visits it. This only encourages the majority of people to behave in an equally friendly and courteous way. He even boiled my kettle in the office as we were on the backup low voltage pitch, which was very welcome one morning!
He did have a group staying while we were there who caused him a few problems, but give him his due he dealt with it very effectively and I definitely couldn't have expected any more from him. He has since decided to only allow smaller groups, as this was a particularly large group of 4 tents (about 6 adults and 8 kids).
All the on site facilities were great - clean and tidy bathrooms with good warm showers, plentiful toilet roll, chairs, bench and hooks to keep your wash bags, clothes and towels off the floor. Brooms and buckets provided for you to help keep tidy. Outside sinks for washing up, which are under shelter should the weather not be as fine as our visit. All the pitches looked well looked after and flat. There is an outside beach style shower, which is a nice feature in the good weather - we were pitched right by it and my husband used it to keep cool a few times!
Having the pitches around the edge and the kids play are in the centre really encourages the kids to play together and allows you to keep an eye on them while you are cooking etc on your pitch.
The site and Joe thoroughly deserve the accolades which they've won over the years.
Looking forward to coming back in the future.

Decided to find a campsite at the last minute due to the fabulous weather forecast and was looking for a campsite near the coast and after a while the barn popped up close to the sea approx 10 min walk.
The campsite was a flat grassy field with caravans and tents set up around the outside leaving a large area in the middle for children to play.
There was a nice new shower block with large showers and toilets always clean and tidy with a broom and mop left so people could keep tidy if needed although it was never needed and although the campsite was busy we did not have to wait for toilets or showers.
The owner was helpful and friendly.
Local town was short walk from site with all the shops and a nice cafe by station where we had a nice breakfast.
We enjoyed our stay and will visit again if staying in the area
The price was very reasonable compared to others we looked at.

A large grassy field, some pitches with electric hookup. Perimeter camping far from any road noise and all within easy reach of the toilet block which is basic but clean and adequate. There are two washing up sinks which have cold water only, therefore, if you are unlucky enough to be sharing your stay with inconsiderate campers you will find them coated in dirt/grease and will have to clean them yourself before using them.
The slide and swings in the centre of the field are suitable for young children and can be seen easily from all pitches. The situation of the site is very good. A ten minute walk away from the pebble beach and about 15 minutes in the opposite direction to the town with supermarkets (no shop on site), cheap restaurants and pubs.
If you enjoy basic camping, this site could be lovely but has one downside - it allows large groups. Although the warden is very conscientious and will come out if phoned, he allowed a group to stay on for a second night (even though he had been called out at 2am the previous night) which meant very late night noise again on the next night. This obviously ruined a weekend break for all of us unlucky enough to be on nearby pitches. For this reason I shan't be returning

Just returned from a 5 night stay at this site had a very enjoyable time. The site is in a excellent location within easy reach of Littlehampton, Shoreham, Worthing and Brighton with Newhaven and Eastbourne a little further afield but quite easy to get to.
Within a 15 minute walk of the site is the beach in one direction and the small town of Lancing in the other with a variety of shops including a asda.
A mention has to be given to the owner of the site who is regularly on site and always happy to help with any problems and knows the area well to give advice.

Booked this site for 3 nights with EHU and in the may half term last minute really and lots of availability as quite a few campers were going home that day :)
Lovely campsite with friendly owner who was there everyday talking to campers, cleaning facilities, and generally being helpful. On our last day we had packed up ready to leave and our clutch wasn't working so owner kindly went to see if he had any oil and gave us directions to nearest garage even though he was in rush to get ready to go to a wedding :) (also apologies to other campers for the noise husband car made to get it fixed!)
Site had 2 toilets and 2 showers in ladies, 1 toilet, 2 showers and urinal in mens- cleaned regularly and noticed a mop and buckets was left poss for campers to use.
There was a cold water tap for washing up and a drinks vending machine.
There is a playground for uder 8 in middle of field/ campers (abit muddy though poss needs woodchip or something) both kids loved it tho, also a large goalpost and space for playing.
Shops/ takeaway/ beach in easy walking distance.
Shoreham airport nearby- planes and helicopters flying over constantly, nice to look at but quiet at night.
Our only niggle was that we got a metered EHU and spent quite a lot in 3 nights- we were using a electric cool box on constant, a fan heater in eve, kettle, and electric hob. Owner said they do have pre pay ones too. Would have been cheaper at £2 a night so if we went back id want one of those!
We had a large tent with porch (8 metres altogether), 2 adults and 2 children which cost £20 a night. They don't charge for extras like a lot of other sites- I think its a pay per person so doesn't matter how big tent is or if got a porch etc
Really enjoyable stay and will def be back! :)

We booked this site as it was the nearest site to Brighton, which we were visiting. It is a very basic site, with a small toilet block ( 2 ladies loos and a couple of showers)and about 4/5 electrical hook-ups. There was no one on site and we didn't see anybody until the next day. The grass was cut short but the toilet blocks were not clean, hair in the showers and lots of lost property left about. We had paid up front for a night's stay £18 plus another £2 for electric which was only 3 amps! .
|
Management response: We have 18 hookups and the minimum is 6 amp most being 10. All the details about showers are wrong - we have we have 4 toilets and 4 showers plus urinals! I think this review is very misleading as you can see as nearly all our other reviews average 9/10! |

We spent bank holiday weekend on this site and had a great time. The site is as described, mostly flat, grassy and quite stable despite some wet weather prior to our arrival. The fees we thought were very reasonable and Joe, who seems to organise and look after the site is very helpful and approachable. We took a walk to the beach, turn left out of the lane, which was about a 20 minute walk away. The shops and high street are right out of the the lane and about a 25 minute walk with an Asda right next to the train station. This site is a great base to explore the south coast, Worthing about 3 miles and Brighton around 8 miles. Shoreham is barely 2 miles and the old town there is delightful. The shower block is new and was kept clean with hot water always available. Overall, a nice, quiet and dog friendly site.
