Brilliant site - wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Lovely location - we stayed in the field right next to the beach - fantastic views and even though the beach is rocky it was great for the kids and fires at night.

The main toilet facilities are great - the toilets in the field were a lot more rustic but still exceptionally clean.

The owners were very friendly and flexible ( we were able to change our pitch upon arrival and there were no comments about how we pitched our tent or where we parked our car).

Great for families with a lovely play area. A little gem that we wouldn't hesitate to return to.

main toilet block very good. toilets near beach a bit basic, these were the nearest to where we pitched our tent so were the ones we used my wife was not too keen to use them, new toilet seats would not cost much and would be well worth the cost.

We arrived on a Thursday afternoon and got the last available pitch number 25, a bit narrow and just fit our outwell nevada on it.

Shop at reception had basics and opened rarely. Most people left on the Sunday.

We left on the Tuesday by which time it was deserted and fantastic. would go again but mid week to miss the crowds.

Great views,nice area.

A lovely park at the foot of Gyrn Goch, we were a little bit worried about the sight as the drive down is narrow and winding, I e mailed the owners who re assured me that they would assist us if needed.

When we arrived the owner helped us put our van in place, they were around the sight at regular intervals checking toilets etc.

There is a good play area for children & a games room, also reception does stock a few basics. The view out to see is breathtaking we saw fantastic sunsets on the Friday and the Saturday.

On the day of our departure the owner towed our caravan to the top of the drive, we will be visiting again next year.

Our 1st time at this site and found it by chance.

We stayed for 3 nights midweek and the campsite was quiet.

We were put on pitch 34 which was lovely (we pre booked) but after setting up realised you could pretty much camp anywhere that isnt prebooked as long as you let the owners know.

Pitch 34 was on the bottom field right opposite the entrance to the beach area. There is a toilet and washing up facilities on each field but the main toilet and shower block is right back at the entrance.

There is also a freezer which is for ice packs only and a sign to say any other items will be disposed of. This should be made clear before arrival.

Showers are 20p to use

Washer and dryer on site as well, not sure of price as we didn't use.

We had our 3 children with us who are aged 9, 7 & 3 and they all enjoyed the campisite and agreed with us it was the best they have stayed on in ages.

Park for the kids was a big hit as well.

Beach area is all rocky with some large rocks. Kids enjoyed looking in the rock pools when the tied was out.

BBQ's are allowed on your pitch but campfires have to be on the beach. We found plenty of pre made fire pits to use and was a big hit with the kids, especially with toasting marshmallows

Weather can be quite windy but that's to be expected right next to the sea.

We also managed to spot a seal when the tied was out swimming along the shore line

Overall a lovely site which we will be going back to next year for a weeks stay.

On site shop is also just bare essentials like washing up liquid, shower gels etc.

What a great site. Definitely one of the best allround sites we've stayed at with a great combination of rural setting and modern facilities.

I can only echo previous posts regarding the great facilities, friendly owners and atmosphere and cracking location. And campfires on the beach were fantastic to keep the evening chill off whilst enjoying a beer and the sunset (we had a fabulous sunset every night for 5 nights!)

I think it's worth giving special mention to how well organised the owners are in terms of taking bookings.

We checked for availability as we wanted to stay around the Easter and Royal Wedding bank holiday's and thought it would be busy. Received a very efficient response from the owners to confirm they had a pitch available and requesting a deposit via PayPal. Again very efficient as I hate having to send cheques and scratch around for a stamp whenever I'm booking a site.

They even ask when booking if you would prefer a sheltered pitch.

We have already booked again for August and will be taking friends with us this time. Unlike other sites we have stayed at Aberafon actually encourage groups of families to camp together and don't bombard you with a list of silly rules when you arrive. There are some rules of course, but these are common sense and don't get in the way of you enjoying your holiday.

Highly recommended.

Fantastic location for this site, right on the beach. Narrow entrace road could be tricky for caravans but fine for cars.

Main shower block and toilets very good, smaller toilet block OK. Wash up facilities OK but sometime shortage of hot water.

Childrens playground excellent, campfires on the beach definitely the highlight.

Small shop on site selling all of the basics.

Great location for exploring Anglesey, Porthmadog and Snowdonia.

Overall, fantastic site and would recommend and will re-visit.

Great site tucked away in quiet corner of N Wales and would definitely recommend to couples and families alike.

As mentioned in previous reviews the entrance sneaks up on you and could easily be missed so slow down on approach and you should be fine.

The site owners are friendly and helpful

There are supermarkets Tesco / Asda around 8 -9 miles from site and closer local shops (a couple of miles away)

Several toilet blocks / with dish washing facilities (all clean and well maintained but hot water was lacking) but there is only one shower block right with 3 cubicles right at the entrance so in busy periods you might have to wait for a shower. The shower block was very clean and the water was always hot and plentiful.

There is a private beach (not sand) and the owners allow BBQ and Camp fies on it so watching the sun go down in front of camp fire was awesome.

The only real criticism I would make is the pitch allocation. When we arrived the site was fairly empty and the site has pitches with awesome views but as there were just adults in our group we were surprised at being allocated a pitch right next to the play area whilst later groups with children were pitched further away! Having said that even though it was Easter weekend so the site filled up after we arrived noise was not excessive (even from the play area)

Two nights under canvas. Nice campsite on the welsh coast.

When arriving you are on quite a busy road and if you blink you may miss the narrow entrance.

Very friendly, we just turned up off spec expecting it to be really busy. Pleasantly surprised to find it almost empty. We had the pick of the pitches and chose pitch 79 overlooking the beach as the weather was great (could be a bit exposed in lousy weather but there are sheltered pitches available)

Facilities very clean and adequate 20p for a lovely hot shower.

Nearest pub/hotel about 2mile away but wasn't open to non residents while we where there. There is a pub and chippy in Bontnewydd on the way back to Caernarfon but is a 10min drive.

Would recommend a stay here the sunsets are amazing. Only one minus point you can't have wood burning fires on site (you can on the Beach) only BBQ or charcoal

Just returned home from a bank holiday weekend at Aberafon and we had a great time. The site was very busy but not noisy at anytime. We were allocated pitch 10, which was perfect for us, set in the corner, nice and sheltered but still with a view of the sea!

We were close to the main shower and toilet blocks so cant comment on the ones on the fields closer to the sea, however they were spotless!

Only negative that I can think of was that they were alittle smelly - and unsure if that was due to a busy weekend or bad drains.

Little shop on site was handy for forgotten essentials and also a handy freezer and laundry facilities if staying alittle longer than the weekend.

Campfires - think this should be made clearer on the website - Only charcoal fires are allowed on your pitch, if you want a wood fire you have to go to the beach.

Cheap and very cheerful! We were on a pitch that at first looked damp and dark but not so. Right by a stream that flowed into the sea, it acted as a great booze fridge as well as a pleasant walk to the beach. We eyed up a few higher pitches that had great sea and sunset views for our next trips, however we also saw the wind damage to some of the tents after a particularly windy morning. Still an option and wouldn't put me off the site at all. The kids play area was in the top field so walkie talkies were fab. Ladies loos and showers were close and clean with music piped 24 hours (great for spooky night visits). Men did complain that theirs was not so great, think they haven't had the TLC that the ladies obviously have. Picturesque and fab for families, def revisit.

First pitch we were given had a big muddy puddle on it, owners soon swapped when we asked. Pitched by the stream which our kids loved playing in but we found the ground very damp even after a couple of days of sun.

The shower/toilet block had a smell but you got plenty of hot water for your 20p. The road leading down to the site is very steep and I was glad I didn't have a caravan. The on site shop sold basics but we found a londis about 5 min drive away.

Our kids soon found other kids to play with which kept them entertained. The site was quiet at 9 pm on wards as most kids went to bed. Over all we found the site to be very good for kids and our dog who both loved the stream and beach.

We have just returned from a long weekend at this site.

The site is located down a quiet lane and well away from the rest of the world. Being perched either on a cliff or beach, the views out to sea and the mountains behind are spectacular. On our second night we watched the sunset out to sea in a cloudless sky. The only other comparable sunset I have ever seen was in the Maldives!

With the spectacular views comes the exposed nature and you have to be prepared for the wind when it arrives and bear this in mind when pitching.

The facilities are generally adequate and all toilet blocks are well stocked and cleaned regularly.

The atmosphere of the site in the afternoons and early evenings was enjoyable with families heading to the beach to watch the sunset with a beach fire and glass of wine. All the pitches are well spaced with amble room for kids to play freely and safely within view.

Just back from a weekend at this lovely site.

The staff were very helpful, calling us back when clearly busy to allow us to make a booking without a deposit on the day.

The site was filled to capacity but did not feel particularly cramped. Plenty of kids did mean it was a fairly loud site where we were, near the playground, although it did quieten significantly in the late evening.

Looks to be lots for kids and adults to do and explore, a stream and some woods, but the best feature is the beach. They sell wood at the site so you can have fires on the beach in the evening which was great fun and quite popular.

I also noted a large number of campers had boats with them, no doubt attracted by the slipway.

The facilities were a little crude but very clean and conveniently sited around the campsite so not far to walk when caught short in the middle of the night! There is a small shop for essentials but it is a bit of a way to the nearest pub or external shop. The lane in to the campsite is very narrow and twisting a personally I'm glad I had a tent and nothing on a trailer.

Overall a very enjoyable experience.

This was our first time camping as a family. There were 5 of us. Kids aged 9, 6 and just 2. All the reviews talk about the road to the site being difficult, steep and narrow. This is true but not a problem in a car. There were different fields to pitch in depending upon your needs. Due to the fact it was full when we stayed we were allocated our pitch - no 64, in one of the 2 cliff top fields. The views were absolutely spectacular 360 degrees of mountains and sea. The sunsets were breathtaking. The site owners Hugh and Claire were very friendly and helpful. It was a very children friendly site - although a pitch next to the playground is only for the brave because some parents let their children out playing on it til almost 11pm!

There is a lot of space for ball games which our kids loved and a fond memory is having a fire on the pebbly beach (you can buy firewood from the site shop for this purpose at £3 a bag). Lots of families and groups tended to do this to watch the sunset.

As already stated the beech was indeed stoney, which was a real shame. If you've got little ones they will need beach shoes.

The toilets were generally modern and clean. The shower block has only 3 showers in the ladies and 3 in the mens. The water was hot, but cost 20p for 3 mins. You can plug in a hairdryer/straighteners as there were 2 small vanity unit cubicles in the ladies (none in the mens - although there were electrical shaver points in there). The showers were also a big walk from our pitch which was a real struggle with our toddler and full arms of towels etc.

There was a washing up sink in the cliff field, unfortunately the water was often cold - to wash up my poor hubby lugged everything down to the wash up station outside the shower block as the water was always hot.

There were lots of noisy groups in the location of our tent. On our first night it was 3am before the group behind us turned in, the next night the group next to us and behind were up laughing and talking loudly til after 1am. If we were in a group we too may have been wanting to stay up ourselves, but with young kids we were exhausted and it ruined our holiday. We spoke to the warden and she spoke to the parties concerned but it made no difference, she gave us her mobile number to phone her if it was bad, we gave up after the 3rd day and lived with it. Unfortunately you get selfish people everywhere - we just wish they'd been on a different site to us!

The cliff fields were exposed and when we had high winds a number of tents were damaged - you've been warned! It made for a couple of very frightening nights where all the kids seem to end up in our bed! We needed to go out and add storm pegs just to keep the tent in the ground.

Overall it was an idyllic site in a great spot, The kids thought it was awesome!

Beautiful site and excellent personal service, including opening the shop out of hours and the loan of jump leads! Great for dogs and stream and beach are wonderful for children and the ability to light decent sized fires amongst the stones on the beach was a real treat. Tumble drier was an unfortunate necessity but thank goodness they have one. Will definitely return.
