 A great site in a great area. If you go without an awning you have the chance to park on the seawall facing the sea, otherwise you go in the tourer (Tomlin) Field. Water & Hook-up to every pitch. I found the pub to my liking, near enough to walk to but far enough away to stop any sound travelling to site. The nearest newsagents is the Post Office in the village, a nice walk for the fit. The entrance to the toilets looked a bit tired but in the main the facilities were fine. Would definitely go back (the wife's son only lives 4 mile away so I suppose I'll have to).

Just got back from a weekend in St Bees after swiftly changing plans from the East coast to the West coast. (Severe weather warning for Norfolk - didn't fancy it!) Stopped in the tent field with no hook up for two nights. Was a bit miffed that we had to pay extra because we have a large Vango 900, anything over 6 berth incurs an extra charge. I thought this was a bit steep when the tent site is simply a field and was far from booked up.
Camp site is nicely laid out, majority of area is statics, one tent field and one touring field from the look of it. Toilets generally clean, although the gents had no electricity all weekend, so no shaving and lots of tripping up after dark! (Word of warning girls, no electric points in the toilets/showers so there's no opportunity for driers or GHDs. Trauma!)
Beach is right on doorstep, great rock pools and shallow sea so perfect for our 6 and 9 year old although a sudden outbreak of jellyfish had them running back to shore.
There's a beachshop/cafe at the other end of the beach which was basic. A truly awful pub which looks as if it's in the process of being renovated, at least I hope it is. Went once and decided not to venture inside. All in all I would say it was a good place for tenters for a weekend but I don't think there are sufficient facilities nearby to survive a week.

A field near a static park, but don't be put off. Slight slope but good for tents. Great beach, local village and facilities. Avoid the pub / prole / day tripper end of the beach.
Showers, toilets etc are for camp site residents only and there is ironing, tumble drying stuff as well.

This site is in a terrific location - right on the edge of the beach, and next to an easily accessible RSPB cliff top walk (St Bees Head).
There are a lot of static caravans, and a reasonable sized field off to one side for tents, which was quite empty when we were there. There were fresh water and rubbish points on the edge of the camping field, but it was a bit of a walk to the shower block. The facilities were clean and had a door code so that people coming to the beach couldn't go in! Each toilet had plenty of space and a sink in the cubicle, so plenty of privacy. In the ladies there were a couple of (free) showers and a hairdryer too. It was dark and I couldn't get the light to work in the washing room, so cannot comment on the facilities there!
Everyone on site was very friendly (including permanent static owners, even when we were walking right past their door to get to the cliffs) but the site as a whole was a bit big for our tastes.

Really liked this site for the situation right next to the beach. We ended up here as we were abandoning the idea of camping, as the site we were originally were heading was too wet! On the way home we passed the turning for St Bees and it looked sunny and had a brilliant weekend camp will definitely be going back here.
