A lovely site with fantastic facilities, but the wind, we arrived in the heatwave and set up our caravan and awning, 2 days later the wind arrived and did it blow, we were putting pegs back in continuously, in future we will request a pitch along side the hedge.

We used the park and ride where you pay 5 and when giving your ticket to the driver can ask for up to 6 individual tickets, if you are only a couple join with someone else from the site as once you have your tickets you can travel to and from Dartford all day, no limit on journeys.

If you want to use a bus pass catch the service bus at the end of the drive outside Sainsburys.

Try the Round Robin trip, by boat, bus and train, it's not cheap but on a good day it is great or take the bus to Dartmouth then the small ferry to Dartmouth Castle.

If you want a special meal book on the Resnova floating inn, you are picked up by water taxi and returned after you meal which was fantastic, ours cast 35 each for 3 courses and drinks, then catch the 90 bus home using your park and ride tickets, another good place is the Cherub Inn, real ales and good food in a quaint old building, it's up the hill behind the building being rebuilt in the centre of Dartmouth.

Situated on the hill above Dartmouth this is quite a large site. We were on one of some three fields with a hard standing pitch but this was one of several rows of squares set in the grass so you had to walk across wet grass whichever direction you went.

Staff were very helpful and the facilities were excellent being plentiful, fairly new and spotlessly clean.

The site is next to the park & ride and, where in other places, we have used our bus passes on these buses, this was not possible here as you had to obtain a car park ticket to give the driver. Being mean, we walked into Dartmouth several times but the walk back up the hill was quite exhausting.

Sainsburys store is literally opposite the site entrance so shopping for provisions was simple.

Dartmouth was excellent and I could have sat and watched the harbour traffic for hours. We walked to the castle and along some of the coastal path so, all in all an excellent location.

We had a lovely week staying here despite some inclement weather at first. We were kindly offered a choice of pitches and chose the most sheltered one at the bottom of the field in the corner so that when high winds blew, we were still cosy. It was pouring with rain during the night, but the ground obviously drains well.

Everyone working on site was kind and helpful and they were flexible about our family suddenly coming to stay mid-week in another tent. The toilet block was incredibly well equipped - loads of loos, showers, private wash basins etc.

Despite a rally going on in another field, we never had to queue. Also, as mentioned before, kept extremely clean. They provide squeegees and plentiful cloths for visitors to wipe showers and basins in addition to staff doing a great deal of cleaning, too. Also plentiful washing up sinks and laundry facilities.

In the shop they happily freeze packs on a daily basis and simply invite donations to some worthy charity boxes - a generous move on their part.

With shops and park & ride close by, it's very, very convenient. We visited Dartmouth (having an excellent hour-long harbour cruise, not to be missed! Also delicious fish & chips at Rockfish restaurant), Brixham - lovely harbour area, Paignton - touristy but nice and Totnes / Dartington.

As we are involved with the Transition Town movement, Totnes was of special interest as an exemplary eco-town. Great flea market on Fridays.

All in all, we would not hesitate to visit this site again and to recommend it as a wonderful base to explore an attractive and interesting part of the country.

This is the second time we have stayed at Little Cotton and we haven't been disappointed. This is a well planned site with the tent area in the most sheltered part of the site. The caravan area is lovely with a choice of hardstanding (which are all level and flat) or grass pitches.

The site is spotlessly clean as is the shower/toilet block, there are plenty of showers/toilets to serve the site and the shop stocks almost everything.

The dog walking area is the best we've ever seen, clean, tidy, well planned and maintained.

The nearby supermarkets are very convenient, Dartmouth is a bus ride away.

We can't wait to visit again.

We stayed at little Cotton on the recommendation of friends.

The pitch was perfect, well maintained and level. We had an electrical hookup.

The shower blocks spotless with decent hairdriers (coin operated)

Toilets equally clean.

The shop on site had everything we needed at short notice and with Sainsburys just across the way, there was no trouble in stocking up for our holiday.

All in all a perfect base for our time in the area, the park and ride service being very handy.

There were lots of space for the youngsters to play, but no dedicated children's play area / park unfortunately.

We've been coming here for 5 years now. This is the first time we've stayed during the school holidays and we were concerned it might not seem such a wonderful campsite when busy. We needn't have worried!

We stayed in the tent field - our first choice as our children are 2 & 5 and there's no road for them to run out onto. Tents are arranged down each side of the field leaving a large central area for play, and play they did!

Facilities were as immaculate as ever - the best kept shower block we've ever used. No queues, plenty of hot water, block heated at night. Site generally quiet by 10. 30, only noise we heard was farm animals and a bus at 6am!

Large Sainsburys (5 minutes away on foot) now has a cafe serving light snacks till 7pm.

On-site shop is cheaper for some items such as eggs. It also sells a really good range of tent-friendly toys.

Dartmouth lovely to visit (park and ride bus there and back a trip in itself for our children!) - excellent park, Royal Avenue gardens good for picnics, castle worth a visit, boat trip up the river to Dittisham guarantees crabbing fun, lovely beaches nearby, Paignton Zoo about 20-30 minutes by car via the Higher Ferry, steam train good fun for little and big kids, great coastal walks, Dartmoor within easy reach.

All in all, a fantastic site run by fantastic owners. We've already booked for summer 2012!
