 We have stayed at Applefields a few times over the last ten years and this time was no different - WE LOVE IT! Its calm, peaceful and friendly.
The facilities are clean and well sign posted, the lady running it is kind and approachable (and comes back to you quickly if you have any enquiries)and there is a 'no stress' atmosphere, which is priceless.
We found it very easy to relax at the site and the local shops/pubs/restaurants cater to anything else you might need.
We highly recommend and will be returning. Thank you Applefields!

Lovely relaxed site, peaceful surroundings despite all the work going on around with new housing estates and Sizewell C. Most pitches have electric hook up and access to water.
Free to pick your own pitch ( all are very large so you’re not too close to your neighbors).
Whilst the facilities may be a little dated they are all kept clean with plenty of hot water.
Easy access to the town centre, with its Film Theatre and pubs. Regular buses to Thorpeness, Aldburgh and Saxmundham and Beccles.
Definitely worth a visit.

We really enjoyed our stay at this site. There were 4 shower rooms with toilets and large basins one of which was accessible and the washing up area had loads of hot water.
The pitch was large, in fact so large that our cable didn't stretch far enough but Susan leant us a long cable so it was not a problem.
The cafes and pubs in Leiston were all in walking distance and there was a very large coop that sold everything.
A great experience and we would stay again if in that area.
The price was very reasonable. Thoroughly recommended.

Very relaxing and easy-going campsite. Booking was straightforward and Susie the owner very trusting, letting you pay at the end of your stay.
She makes you very welcome and is extremely helpful.
Facilities are dated but very well maintained. All pitches are grass but very generous in size.
Leiston is not the most exciting town on the planet but there is loads to see and do within easy reach.
Sizewell C infrastructure works are a bit of a nuisance but they won't last forever and this is a beautiful area.

If you are looking for a relaxed site and are not put off by being pitched in or around the edge of a large grass field this site will suit you well.
Each pitch has a freshwater tap and where there are freshwater points there are electric hook ups. However they are not 16v and so you have to go easy on using devices demanding a higher level of electric energy.
The owner, Susan, doesn't include the cost electricity in the basic price but trusts campers to disclose the number of showers had and washing machine uses, to be added to the payment at the end of the stay and at £25 as the baseline it's very reasonably priced.
A walk from the site into town for shops, pubs, eateries and buses is about 15 minutes. The bus information is not clear we had to do a lot of asking locals, to get it right. There isn't even an actual bus stop sign pole for the bus stop outside the library!
However, once it's clear you are likely to be successful and a bus can take you to Thorpeness and/or Aldeburgh and worth the effort without worrying about parking. Both Thorpeness and Aldeburgh are beautiful, full of fresh fish/seafood sellers iconic buildings in'Chocolate Box/Jigsaw' surroundings and the sea lashing away in the background.
Had a lovely lunch in an Aldeburgh restaurant, ice cream from a hut by a little yacht sailing pond & strolling among those iconic houses, serene.

Really nice campsite, good price, all facilities as you would expect and a very friendly owner Susan.
Please ignore the comments in previous reviews about laminated instructions, unfortunately they need to be there because people are stupid enough to think it’s ok to wash their dogs in the showers, or leave the toilet in a mess, if the people using campsite were a bit more considerate of others there would be no need for laminated instructions.
Also if the owner has stipulated that dogs should be kept on a lead and that people need to clear up their dog shit then please abide by the rules so that those without dogs can enjoy the site without fear of treading in dog poo.
Overall it was a lovely campsite just the other campers who spoil it.

Lovely owner, very friendly and helpful.
Clean facilities. The showers are hot.
The town is close.

This is a nice, quiet friendly site.
Access to the site is good and we were able to pick our own plot.
It is within easy walking distance to the town of Leiston itself with decent shops and many good pubs and eateries.
All in all it is a great and peaceful site with plenty of interesting places within easy driving distance.

This site is really brilliant! Susan is really accommodating and generous with very fair site fees. The placements are large and the space in the camping field made it so easy for our little grandson to run around when he visited us. There was also a wooden picnic table provided that we used several times for visiting family. A safe and convenient area.
The facilities also make life so easy. The shower has plenty of space to put clothes and cosmetics and is really a full bathroom. More facilities were opened at the weekends so there was compete accessibility for campers in the mornings.
Really useful was the Bosch washing machine which had a simple easy rinse and spin function that I could use after handwashing…and I didn’t have to fuss about finding coins for the machine because campers were trusted to add the usage to their bills! This is unusual on a campsite and I’ve often felt quite frustrated at other sites when I haven’t wanted to do a full wash but had dripping washing on the line in our awning. Applefields’ facilities enable me to wash and dry in a day without waiting around!
Susan is a lovely person. She deserves full accolade for this lovely campsite!
An easy and comfortable holiday…oh and there was some really good cycling along the tracks to Aldeburgh, Thorpeness and Southwold!

A lovely campsite with a superb owner Susie, there are no rules regarding times of check in and check out. You pay at end of your stay, so she is very trusting and hope that trust is not abused.
The site has 2 toilets and 3 showers and toilets combined. Showers are 50p each, but no coins required as you add the total to your bill at end of your stay.
There is washing up facilities, a lounge with sofas, washing machine, dryer, all chargeable.
A great find close to Sizewell beach and walkable to Leiston for Coop supermarket.
There was a lot of dogs come the weekend and sadly not all well trained, so lots of barking dogs, but that’s no reflection on the site and we left 1 day early as a man pitched next to us with a dog and spent until 12. 30am shouting at his dog who kept growling and again started at 5. 30am, all this about 10ft from our heads. Susie apologised and said she would have moved the man rather than us leave, but we needed our sleep.
All in all an excellent site and would visit again.

A really good space, field is well maintained a combination of electric and non electric spots.
Offers great freedom for children.
The facilities were clean, multiple showers, kitchen and washing machine.
Hosts were very friendly.

Fantastic setting. Really enjoyed the privacy.
Plenty of space for the children (11 of them) to play.
Great location.
Bit outdated, but clean and in good working condition facilities.
Considering going back next year.

Lovely site with large pitches - we chose EHU.
Toilet / shower block is a little dated, but are very clean and plenty of hot water.
Water was available next to pitch, along with EHU.
Great location for Aldeburgh, Thorness and local area.
Site had availability mid week whilst we were there, although the weekend was fully booked.

Lovely site, big pitches and nice atmosphere.
Facilities a bit tired but clean and perfectly OK, liked shower and loo together - plus separate loos.
Great information room with tables, dvd, s, etc.
Clearly want you to enjoy the place.
A bargain at the price.
Definitely recommend.
