We loved this site and will be visiting again soon !

Lots of pitches are amongst trees and in their own own wooded clearing which really appealed to us ! We had our own large clearing next to a stream ,surrounded by trees ,it was the best pitch we have ever had!

Staff were really friendly ,and cannot do enough to help ! we were even made a cuppa by the management whilst we were chatting one day The dog walk is a whole forest ! with 2 streams that leads to a miniature railway and beyond ( disused at the mo but is being extended and should be in use by next year )

Beddgelert (pronounced something like Bethgellit we were informed ?) village is very pretty and has plenty of places to eat .There is a walk from the campsite into the village ,avoiding the road and instead going over hills and through woods and fields ,a lovely walk .

Lots and lots of excellent walks nearby for all abilities ,advise buying a walk guide for the area to find the best ones.

The facilities on site are excellent and fit in well with the surroundings too .

I could have summed this campsite up in one word ( but webby insists on a more lengthy approach ;) )

PERFECT!

Took the Coleman Wyoming to this site in the middle of the Summer holidays along with the two kids.

The ground was very hard and we had to buy some rock pegs from the shop. Fortunately, the shop was very well stocked and able to help us out.

The campsite was very busy but we managed to find a spot but we were bombarded by midges from dusk onwards and found it very difficult to sit outside after dark. Please be warned to bring some insect repellent - you will need it!

Also, we had a squirrel visit our tent while we were out who helped himself to some of our bread so make sure you put all your food away - we were warned so it was our own fault.

The staff and rangers were excellent and very friendly and would recommend the kids activities and the evening bat watching. We purchased a Forest Experience Card which, not only got us money off the pitch price but also got money off the kids activities.

Would definitely return to this campsite but would perhaps try the electric hookup area as that seems to be a bit flatter and not so crowded.

On arrival at this lovely site we were greeted in reception by one very friendly smiling lady, and one rather abrupt and unsmiling lady, however later on in the week unfriendly lady was ok so I assume she was having a bad day when we arrived.

The site is in a gorgeous location, we had a bit of trouble locating a premium pitch (without a picnic table) having to drive around a few times, and finally settling on one nearish to the toilet blocks as we had a wheelchair with us.

The site is very hilly, as is to be expected, and although there is a disabled toilet and shower it was quite difficult actually getting to the toilet blocks (an electric wheelchair or strong carer necessary), once there the disabled facilities were clean and reasonable, but would benefit from a few more adaptations to make them more disabled friendly.
The ordinary shower blocks were fine, mostly clean, sometimes alot of water on the floor in the shower area, some showers better than others, the water was always hot, possibly too hot in the sinks, and we had to use a flannel to operate the push down hot tap at times. The washing up sinks were always clean (apart from the odd bit of food!) and hot water plentiful, with clean cloths provided to wipe down.

The childrens play area was good, with a couple of benches opposite, handy for parents to sit and supervise. My kids loved exploring this site and paddling in the streams. We found the site shop to be well stocked and reasonably priced.

The pitches are quite rough so an extra groundsheet is a good idea, and some slope alot so chocks & blocks needed for caravans, and make sure you've got plenty of midge repellent they were out in force while we were there! The site did get very busy towards the weekend and the tent fields began to look very packed, there was also quite alot of noise and movement late on around the site, but the weather was gorgeous and sound was carrying easily.

There is lots to do in the surrounding area, Beddgelert is a lovely village if rather busy at times and it's a nice easy wheelchair walk to Gelert's grave. There is also a very reasonably priced camping shop.

Overall we loved this site and I'm sure we'll return here again.

It is probably the type of site that Carlsberg would make if they made campsites.
Although a large site, the pitches are interdispersed amongst the trees, so that an intimate atmosphere is maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful to an amazing extent; you get the feeling that they own the site and are not mere employees. The ground is hard and rock pegs will be required. The special duty plastic pegs are no good as we found to our cost and yes you can benefit from extra ground cover; but it is small price to pay for such a wonderful site.

We have already booked again in September for when the wrinkly rate again comes into force.

A real get away from it all. Lovely location in the heart of the forest. The tent pitch areas are not marked out and it is left to campers to abide by the 6 metre rule between pitches. We initially found it difficult to find a space within 6 metres as the campsite was full to overflowing. Eventually squeezed into a nice location in a clearing close to a tranquil running stream.

The idyllic combination of water and forest inevitably leads to midges making themselves known. As long as you are prepared for this, along with some insect repellant spray, this shouldn't be a problem. However, a family who had pitched next to us curtailed their stay because of this very reason.

The shop/reception is open from 9am to 8pm at peak season and sells a variety of goods from washing up bowls and kettles to bacon, milk, eggs etc. Also has a coffee / tea machine available.

Our only niggle was the shower blocks and toilets, particularly the men's, which were in need of updating. The free shower produced a trickle of cold, followed immediately by boiling hot water. Also scalding hot water in the washroom taps - beware of this with children.

Apart from this, our stay was very enjoyable. Beddgelert is a beautiful village with plenty of long walks and a lovely ice cream shop serving unusual flavours like turkish delight and pecan with butterscotch.

All in all, I would recommend this site for a relaxing short break.

We loved this campsite, my favorite so far. Situated in Snowdonia just outside of Beddgelert. We arrived a bit early due to rain forcast and was greeted by a wonderful smiling lady who showed us were to pitch, all the details about the camp and a list activities for the families.

This is a very large campsite set amongst the forest and you really feel hidden away. We had ehu with our tent and there are only 6 for this use so book early for electric. I highly recommend extra groundsheet protection as these pitches are on hard rock ground so will also need rock pegs too. We did see some tents pitched in the caravan section but will still need that protection as they are all hardstanding pitches. Also make sure all food is in containers as the squirrels will try to get your food.

The bathrooms here were spotless the whole time of our visit even though it poured buckets the entire weekend. You get lots of student groups there, but never heard them and certainly didn't leave a messs behind either. There are a good amount of shower stalls and a baby bath in the ladies room. All the sinks are behind closed doors which is nice if you just need to change and do a quick washup. The showers are scalding hot, not good when pregnant. There is also a large washing up room as well as washers and dryers in another room.

Some pitches did get muddy but nothing that can't be cleaned off. There is a narrow railway that runs through the top of the camp that is a work in progress to lengthen the line through. Looks like there may be a platform for stops at the camp too. There is a shop with basic needs and snacks along with DVD rentals and a community room. Lots of brochures for the area too.

The camp is about a mile outside of Beddgelert and there is a bus stop at the entrance if needed. Beddgelert is a very small village with no major grocery store so best to get food in from home. There are quite a few pubs and B&B's that serve food. 1 store sells some staple items but is very narrow inside and pricey. There are some unique gift shops that are very reasonable and a camping supply store that is well stocked if you need anything while camping. There are some beautiful walks around the Beddgelert area. Betws-y-Coed is not a far drive and a beautiful place to spend the day. You're not far from the beaches or even the Wales Zoo for great days out. The only money we spent on our days out was at the zoo.£23 for our family of 4.

You don't have to leave the camp for amazing walks as all you have to do is walk out the backside to find lots of marked or graveled trails with wonderful views! We loved it here so much that we plan on going here yearly.

If you need a non electric tent pitch, there are a few differnt locations. There is a large feild at the reception area, I suspect that this is for those who want to come and go when the gates are locked. Then there is another feild, they are situated by the river on mostly level ground and are unmarked. I imagine it gets very busy during holidays and it's a bit more open than the ehu pitches but still secluded. Then there are more near the bathrooms so you really have a good selection of pitches.

You will save money if you have the forest experince card or the ccc membership. Would recommend the ccc membership as this will allow you the discount for Forest Holidays and the use of CCC campsites.

Beautiful site located in a woodland setting, great as a base to explore Snowdonia.

It is also possible to walk from the site up to the peak of Snowdon via the Watkin path.

The village is very nice with some good pubs which welcome muddy walkers!

The site facilities are basic but clean and the warden is very friendly and helpful.

We went on the last Bank Holiday weekend in May only booked for two nights due to work commitments. We booked onto a larger pitch with a picnic table. The only problem was getting up late so that there was no hot water left for a shower. Nice site but very busy because of time of year also it would be nice if caravans were able to use grass field and not just hard standing because of the view.

We paid upfront for 5 nights and only stayed for 1.The site was overun with midges, all we done was wind the legs down and plug the electric in and we where eaten alive.

The toilet block was full of dead midges.

Owner wouldn't refund us our money.

This is a really beautiful site. The toilets and showers are in good condition and kept nice and clean. There is a small play area that our 2 children at 8 and 9 enjoyed.

The shop was a little disorganised with some basics like bread and milk being out of stock far too quickly but the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Beddgelert village isn't too far away and is very pretty with some fabulous walks.

The midges were bad until the 5th night when apparently they turned on their new midge busting machines. The next three evenings were much better and we could actually sit outside without being eaten alive.

We had a lovely time but it was very busy and noisy over the bank holiday weekend and when we go back (which we definitely will) we will avoid going at a peak time.

This is quite a nice site tucked away in the trees. We arrived on a very busy weekend and found the last pitch on the lower field near the entrance. There were 1 or 2 others elsewhere, but these tended to be awkward, gravelly or uneven pitches (much of the site is on a hillside so don't expect to have a level pitch).

Unfortunately we had strong winds so the trees sounded like Niagra Falls day and night. Being in the trees, there were thousands of biting midges (at least this kept the site quiet as the noisier elements on the site took cover relatively early in the evening).

The facilities are quite good (plenty of hot water and clean). The shop is basic but the site is essentially a base for visitng the surrounding area (Beddgelert in only 1 mile away).

We would stay again - but with insect repellant next time.

Overall, a lovely stay at this campsite! The staff were quite friendly - giving me a range of pitches to choose from and then popping to check everything was OK. There were plenty of water points and lots of pitches with electric hook ups. We had a larger pitch with picnic table.

This was a very busy weekend - pretty much every pitch was full over the weekend, but the park never seemed cramped or overcrowded.

The toilet blocks were clean, the showers good and more than adequate laundry and dishwashing facilities.

The site shop is very well stocked and handy for the essentials - you may well need insect repellant for the midges, even they weren't too bad.

Would I go back there for another break - Yes!

Lovely site, clean quiet very peaceful setting in the heart of a forest. Excellent walks with good sign posted paths. Good facilities although the showers are a bit pathetic, considering the size of the cubicles and size of the site. All in all very good 7 out of 10.

Having been to this site, since the 60s, almost every year in fact at one time or another and not always in the main holiday their have been many changes to this site I used to look down to the Aber-glaslyn Pass from the site ,but the tree's have grown since then ,you do get bitten,by midges my wife is usually a good scource of food but that is beddgelert forest camp site for you we have had many a good holiday at this site when you go to north wales ,you roll the dice and see what turn's up

Spent Aug Bank Holiday here (Sat-Wed) and had a great time. Campsite full to brim which rather over-stretched the showers/washing up area but hey, weather forecast good and last bank holiday for ever ! Some parts of site sloping, some a bit rocky, others secluded amongst the trees - no marked out pitches just go where there's space remembering this is a Forest Holiday site so not too close to each other ! Every bit of pitching by river taken when we got there about midday on the Saturday.
Wardens very friendly and constantly checking the site. Gates locked at 1030, quiet rule from 1030 - absolutely enforced from 1100 which was wonderful !
Shop on site but very basic really - bacon, sausage, bread, few tins of this and that, drinks, choc and sweeties but they did sell lots of stuff for midge repelling ! Everyone seemed to be burning the citronella oil !
Fantastic walking from site - most of it uphill all the way !
Village about a mile away - have to walk down the road, but not too busy. About 4 pubs but distinct lack of real ale on handpulls - all the pubs were (I think) Robinsons. All had a limited number of outdoor seating (important when you've got a dog!). Lynns Tearoom excellent food at reasonable prices and large outside seating where dogs are allowed. Village store a bit disappointing . Very very basics so if you're coming to this campsite, you'd be better bringing your own food as much as possible. We like to shop for local food but not much about - no butcher or baker in village. Lovely ice-cream shop though !
We would definitely camp there again.
