A well organized friendly site with professional staff.

Yes it is a commercial site but does not have the feel of one.

Well kept clean and tidy site with ful amenities apart from a club house, phew!

Has its own railway station on sight for Welsh mountain railway. You can hear the train coming as it blows It's whistle.

Worth remembering it is next to Snowdon so is part of its micro climate, (think of Mordor from lord of the rings) can be windy and rainy there and sunny on the beach nine miles away. Although because its in the forest can be very sheltered from wind unlike other sites nearby.

Most pitches are levelled in little terraces on the sloping hillside, mostly sized for smaller tents (without awnings/canopies) but on booking they do ask you the size of the tent, it all becomes clear why.

The only negative I have of the whole site is that some of the pitches have worn and have flat slate or wood chippings down. I think this is to stop wet muddy pitches and erosion. Fair one, but I decided to pitch on the big front field, also mainly because I had two small kids too and it was next to the play park.

Oh and we stayed an extra two nights.

Positives=beautiful location- wildlife on and in the tent lovely ( squirrels ate whatever they could if it wasn't in a sealed plastic box)- facilities clean and plenty of them- staff friendly - lovely walks from the door and train is a lovely old fashioned sound-pizzas gorgeous- great play area

Negatives= only given choice of 3 pitches( all next to each other), all like mud baths. Wood chippings x 8 barrow loads ( 3 by the ranger and 5 by myself ) covered it, but feet just still went through into the mud- road was right next to tent so could luckily jump from the gravel road, over the mud and into the tent! ( packing up was challenge as wellies were ankle deep in it. )- picnic table unusable and couldn't have chairs in the tent as the floor of tent fluctuated with mud underneath. Informed no other pitches but when walking around site, empty pitches seen ( £10 compensation from forest holidays given following complaint!) pitch was also directly opposite chemical toilet disposal and hardstanding for camper vans to clean and flush ! therefore noisy and smelly. Left early.

Overall if you could choose your pitch, as there were many others which were dry, then I would return- but to be given a pitch in such a dreadful state and poor situation, ruined my camping experience.

We had a very friendly welcome on arrival. In fact, all staff throughout our stay were very helpful, informative and friendly.

Since our last visit several years ago, they have started doing takeaway pizzas and bread to order (made freshly on site)It was very yummy!

On arrival you are given a map and shown which areas your allowed to pitch your unit. So given a lot of choice as long as you keep to the 6m rule. We found a nice terraced pitch with our small tent which was great for watching the squirrels and rabbits.

It was a very peaceful environment and as always the toilet block, washup areas etc were kept extremely clean.

It is only a 10 minute walk to Beddgelert, which is a lovely village by the riverside.

Only warning for this site, is the midges! However this is no fault of the site and they did have a few midgebuster machines to try and help. I think these could probably be moved closer to the camping area though!

Overall, this has to be one of my favourite sites, we would certainly come back again!

We braved the elements on 8th June when weather forecasts for Wales were reporting floods and gale force winds. Despite this, the site proved to be excellent because our pitch was sheltered from the wind. We travelled with friends who have a motor home and the ladies in reception could not have been more helpful.

One of the ladies even walked around with us in torrential rain and found us 2 suitable pitches close to one another. The shop was excellent, the tourist information centre excellent, the shower block, laundry all excellent and spotlessly clean.

My only negative was that there was no hairdryer in the shower block, unfortunately this had been vandalised, and is not he fault of the site, but there were no electric points for anyone to plug their own hairdryer in.

We did have a problem on the Sat night and Sunday morning with midges, but again, not the fault of the site. Excellent location. Would highly recommend and would definitely visit again.

A lovely site situated in the heart of snowdonia. Very convenient for climbing snowdon, the site is fairly well kept.

We arrived at the beginning of the easter holidays and after 2pm which was what we were asked to do. On arrival discovered that at 3pm the reception was closed and we had to help ourselves to a map of the site to find a pitch.

We found this a little difficult as the site was very busy and ended up having to abandon our caravan to walk around the site.

We eventually found a pitch and had 4 lovely days there with a mixture of sunshine and snow.

The shop was not very well stocked but this was probably due to it being the beginning of the season.

The site does lack a friendly touch but this could be due to it being a large site. Will visit again in the future.

Stayed at this site in February, with myself, fiance and two dogs. Absolutely loved this site, and would highly recommend it.

The pitches are set in little niches in the woods, and I can imagine in the summer, when all the trees are in full bloom, you will have a lot of privacy. Just keep a look out for the sheep wondering around occasionally. There are also squirrels running around, my two dogs thought they had died and gone to heaven.

There is a little shop selling basic commodities, a launderette and clean, hot showers! Everything was immaculate, and even though the weather was horrendous the whole time we were there, and there was a bikers convention, I still never even saw a muddy footprint.

This a perfect site if you want a base for exploring Snowdonia and the surrounding area, or you want a peaceful retreat. You will not get any phone or TV reception, so make sure you take a good book with you.

Would definitely stay at this site again, although with all the trees, I can see how it might be full of midges in the summer.

We stayed 2 nights in March. Site was quiet but enough people around that it certainly didn't feel empty.

It is a big site but the hardstanding pitches are in a couple of different areas so it really doesn't feel that big. Tent pitches more to the centre and lots of space there together with a good size children's playground.

Good hardstanding, ehu and plenty of water fill ups. We used the top pitches by the railway line which have nice views and plenty of shelter under the trees.

Main shower / toilet block was excellant - well heated, plenty of good hot water (push tap was the only downside). Block was very clean at all time - closed for an hour for cleaning each day.

Shop and reception both open for an hour each morning and afternoon at this time of year. You can order bread, rolls etc the night before.

Beddgelert is a short walk from the site and well worth the visit. A couple of lovely shops selling gifts, wood carvings and paintings. Also a good outdoor shop with a big range of discount clothes and tents. Plenty of places to eat and drink in the village.

We paid £10. 50 per night for 2 adults including ehu - absolute bargain for a brilliant site and area.

We have just spend three lovely nights on this fairly large spacious site, and had fantastic weather for March and Wales!

We were a little puzzled at first not sure if we could just pitch where ever, but it was fine. The shop / reception was open a couple of hours a day and you could order bread, pick up any necessities and even get pizza, but to be honest once we had found a pitch we liked we didn't need any assistance or need to use the shop, we just booked in once it was open.

This site was lovely and clean as were the facilities, I know the push button showers can be a bit of a pain but the water was lovely and hot at all times.

A short walk in to Beddgelert to a couple of pubs, cafe's, shops and outdoors shop, and of course the famous 'Beddgelert Grave'.

This was a lovely place to stay with lots of walks and great to sit around and chill watching all the wildlife around you and the little steam train that passes through was nice

We will definitely be returning to this site,

We have been visiting this site for quite a few years now, in a caravan, tent and most recently campervan.

It is in the middle of the forest so can be quite damp underfoot at times, we have only experienced lots of midges on 1 occasion and there are midge machines near the toilet block.

Our most recent visit was our first since the recent changes, the coded lock for the toilet block is a bit frustrating if you arrive when reception is closed!

A lot of the hard-standing pitches have room to put an awning up, there are plenty ehu points and water taps.

There are lots of nice walks through the forest and also it is possible to walk through the forest from the campsite to reach one of the paths up Snowdon, which is a much quieter climb from this side.

Although a lot of the potholes on the tracks had been filled since our last visit the site looked a little bit tired with dead leaves everywhere. The toilet block along with the coded lock has had new toilets but other than that appeared unchanged. It is however very spacious and clean. There are now skips for recycling near the main toilet block.

The site is not too expensive and is very convenient for the exploring of the nearby mountains.

 Fantastic site, Fantastic location.

We have a VW campervan and awning. We arrived mid afternoon on a Friday when light was getting very low.

The staff extremely helpful and friendly from the outset. They couldn't do enough to help, sorted our issues around some of our party not attending without any hassle at all. Thanks.

We were giving the option of any of the pitches on the campsite but was advised to go near to the Silver Birch toilet block ( right by reception ) as this is heated and much welcomed this time of year. The showers and toilets were immaculate with plenty of space to get dressed. With many private wash area cubicles also and a hairdryer (20p).

There are many other facilities on site; children's play area, laundry, heated wash up area etc which were all well presented and helped by the amazing location of the site ( 1 mile away from village )

The staff their ( I think the owners ) gave us fantastic advice on which pub to use in the village due to the fact we have a teenager and a dog. We went with their advice and can honestly say our evening was fantastic. We went to the Saracens Head, which was extremely warm and welcoming. If you have a dog then you can use the bar at the back which is just as lovely as the main bar with a log burner going. The food was also fab. Pub grub at its best! What you want after a hard day of walking. The real ales are very good too!

This is a fantastic site. Excellent staff. Excellent facilities. Excellent location. Will definitely be coming back whenever I visit Snowdonia.

We stayed at this site together with my parents and my brother and his family. We had difficulty in finding pitches close enough to each other (we either had caravans or a motorhome to site).

Previously a few years ago when you booked, your pitches were reserved so was ideal to pitch family and friends nearby at the time of booking.

Some of the pitches were not level and very tight to manoeuvre your unit into place. However, the staff at the site were friendly and extremely helpful.

The site shop stocked the essentials with the bonus of ordering fresh bread/croissants etc for the following day. Even burgers and freshly made pizzas were available.

The toilet/shower block (Red Oak Block not the main block) which is over the far side where all the electric pitches are for caravans, motorhomes, etc is in desperate need of upgrading.

On many of a occasion there wasn't any hot water after 8am and in the evening and the lack of toilet roll and handsoap was another problem.

The site is in a good position to explore the surrounding attractions, ie Mount Snowdon, the town of Betws-y-Coed, The Welsh Highland Railway which runs at the top of the site, Slate mine, Portmeiron, Porthmadog and further afield LLandudno and Caernarfon Castle.

A few of the roads approaching Beddgelert are quite narrow (not many passing places) and wind around, and up and down the hills. Plan your route in advance if you are towing.

Just come back from spending two weeks under the canopy of this Beddgelert Forest. The weather was very welsh and it rained a lot. The forest seemed to have a microclimate all of its own and it rained there when everywhere else was glorious sun. This led to a very wet and often noisy experience but we all still loved it.

We pitched in a quiet area and had a massive amount of space, the dogs loved it.

The train was a big hit with my 3 year old. The dogs enjoyed the walks in the forests behind the rail track.

I was a little concerned that two weeks in the same area may become a little stale but it definitely didn’t we found something different to do every day.

The facilities were fine and were cleaned regularly. The light in the shower block was a bit annoying as it was on a movement sensor near the door, this meant showering mainly in the dark but the light turning on as you left.

Overall we loved it.

Just returned from a seven night stay. The site is in a great location in Snowdonia, but this obviously comes with its problems due to the weather.

Despite it being August the site was very wet. The ground never really dried out as even when it did stop raining most of the site is under the tree's. (It is a forest holiday so you would expect this!) The wardens are very helpful and the site on the whole was great.

The negative points about this site are 1. The Mosquitoes, 2. The shower block was a little tired and did seem dirty at points.

The positives 1. The location 2. The steam train that runs through the site 3. The scenery. 4. The staff, 4. Lynn's cafe in Beddgelert.

Beddgelert is a lovely looking forest site with 2 rivers running through it as well as a charming narrow gauge steam railway. The nearby village of Beddgelert is very pretty, with an exceptional ice cream shop and good food available in pubs.

We very much enjoyed visiting Gelerts Grave, Caernarvon Castle, Portmeirrion, Penrrhyn Castle, Corris Craft Centre and climbing Snowdon, while we were in Wales.

The staff in the shop at the camp site are extremely friendly and helpful, with their policy of putting themselves in the customers shoes. However if you want a large, flat, grass pitch for a tent you will be disappointed.

There are no actual pitches, you just turn up and look round and hope you can find a spot big and flat enough. There are very few tent pitches with electrical hookups.

We have a large tent and wanted electricity so we paid a little extra and used one of the hardstanding campervan/ caravan pitches. This was flat but very stony and under trees, so damp.

The staff very helpfully provided us with extra groundsheet so our tent wasn't ripped to pieces by the slate. We found we were staying out late so we didn't have to go back to the campsite in the afternoon because there was nowhere to sit outside the tent and watch the kids play etc.

The site has a small playground aimed at younger children but nowhere to play cricket or football for example. The bins were not emptied very often and there was a smell of rotting rubbish for a day or two near the shower block on our part of the site.

The facilities themselves were dated and I have seen a lot better. The temperature of the water in the showers was not adjustable and was too hot for small children early in the morning but soon ran out and was stone cold by 8. 30AM.

The larger facilities in the centre of the site were locked with a keypad and there always seemed to be small children outside desperate for a wee, waiting for someone to leave so they could get in. We had a nice (though wet) holiday in Wales but we wouldn't go back to this site.

Just arrived back from a spur of the moment weekend stay in this charming campsite (we only live 20 miles away and wanted to kick off the summer hols). We are a family of 6, 4 kids aged 15, 8, 7 and 4 and we stayed in a tent.

From arrival the staff were really friendly and helpful. There is a small shop on site, some things were overpriced, some reasonably priced.

They had a facility to order fresh bread, bacon or sausage baps for the morning, jacket spuds and pizza at night.

I found the toilets and shower block clean - they are there to be practical, not refurbished to the standard some people would expect their own bathrooms to be. At the end of the day, they're communal bathrooms, and I've seen a lot worse, and a lot more old fashioned! A short sighted male member of our party did have a problem accessing the toilets, the doorway to the mens toilets was very dark.

We pitched in the field opposite the park, word to the wise, the noise of the beautiful stream running across the road does become amplified in the silence of the night. If, like me, the sound of water sends you to sleep, you'll be fine.

As posted before, the midges were ferocious from about 7. 30 until 10pm. We kept them at bay with citronella candles and smoke from the barbecue.

We went to Beddgelert, which is pretty as a picture, and took the kids to Caernarfon Castle, where the Tardis had managed to wedge itself for a few days.

Would definitely, definitely go back, had a lovely, relaxing short break.
