Lovely welcome on arrival at the site on its first day of opening for the season.
Beautiful riverside location with some spacious hardstanding pitches. Toilet and shower block clean with plenty of hot water.
The owners and staff were all working hard with the final preparations for the forthcoming season and were friendly and approachable.
There are numerous walks from the site which is surrounded by National Trust land. Porlock - approx 1 mile away via a woodland walk - is a lovely village with shops, pubs, tea shops and a quaint church which is usually open to visit.
At a very difficult time with the coronavirus pandemic I wish Julian, Marion and all the staff the very best for the forthcoming season.
We stayed for 4 nights but will definitely return.

A beautiful site! Idyllic views and so peaceful. Ideal location to get away from the hustle and stresses of everyday life.
Julian was lovely, we had such a warm welcome and shown our pitch to set up on.
The facilities were clean with hot showers and a laundry room.
We wish we had booked for longer! Will definitely book again

We have just spent 2 nights as a family group with 3 tents, 6 adults and 2 kids. Site is amazing and very relaxed. Sitting within National Trust land (we were unaware of this at time of booking) the scenery is perfect.
The small stream running adjacent to the park gives a nice feel to the place too. As said before the site is on a gentle slope, but our pitch was flat enough that we didn't notice. Staff super friendly and happy for us to sort balance when we were settled.
Toilet block very clean, spacious and modern. No kids play area, but with the shallow stream, and relaxed nature to the fields, they have fun just being kids. Plenty of walks locally. Porlock only a mile away. Loads of horses next to the site. Wife did see a huge stag too, but I missed that one :(
Love to explore new sites, but this one is going on our return list.

What an excellent campsite. Staff are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Facilities are great with the showers always hot.
It is quite a big site but it's so quiet and relaxing No children's playground but the kids just seem to make friends and love it on their bikes/scooters and playing in the stream that runs through the site.
It also has a stable yard and you can go on a 1/2 hour ride for just £12. 50. It is dog friendly and there are loads of different walks off the site, one up the lane leads to two little tea rooms (dog friendly) which are great.
Overall an excellent site will return next year

Excellent little site!
We were attended to very quickly on arrival, and able to pitch up and have a cup of tea before settling up!
The although most of the tent pitches do have a slope, I've seen worse advertised as flat!. Not to mention, I got the impression that if there were a serious problem, the staff would do their best to find a reasonable alternative.
Everyone friendly and chatty from check in to departure.
Facilities absolutely top notch, clean, well maintained.
I don't have kids but there were many there and all seemed happy and well entertained. Our dogs were also fine, especially as there are some excellent walks for them. The site is situated just far enough from the main road to make rambling with kids or dogs comfortable and safe.
The shop has everything you forgot to bring from home, and I can recommend the locally sourced Sausages as some of the best I've ever eaten!
I have no hesitation in recommending this site and this area for a good holiday!

You can walk to the village of Priddy where you`ll find a popular pub serving food and the Priddy Good Farm Shop, selling a range of locally produced food. Very pleasant site in a lovely location. Owners friendly and organised. Lots of decent walks to be had and can walk to Porlock from this site, its a hilly area so be prepared.
As for the site, many tent pitches have a gentle slope to them but nothing too serious, the tent pitches with hook-up have been dug out in the past so a little more level. Grass nice and short and on the whole a well kept camping site.
Toilets are well managed and showers roomy and hot. On site shop is well stocked

Lovely site. Very peaceful. Fantastic facilities, well stocked shop and very friendly and helpful staff and owner. Will return as it was very relaxing. Dog friendly too. Some pitches are on a slope, but some of the slope ones are flat so not a problem.

Had never used this site before but it met all our expectations and more. We love the Exmoor countryside for variety of landscape and lack of touristic development, and this site is perfectly placed for many wonderful walks in the area. Its a 15 minute walk (down steepish hill) into Porlock for provisions or pubs, but the camp shop is pretty well stocked for basics. Lovely open green site, and although it was the middle of August, with many families, we never found it too noisy or intrusive. Great dog walks nearby, VERY friendly and helpful staff and owner, free wifi (best nearest reception, as the huddle of teenage girls demonstrated) and plenty of space. We had a serviced pitch - not requested or charged for - which was perfectly flat, with grass underpinned by a plastic mesh which seems to work very well - personally we don't like hard standings.
We will certainly return

We booked 7 nights from the August Bank Holiday weekend into early September. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances (our cocker spaniel had an emergency appointment at our vets due to an abscess on her neck), we were unable to travel on the Friday and had to delay by a day. I phoned the site to advise which was no problem.
We arrived on the Saturday afternoon and checked in at reception which is also the shop. There was no pressure to settle our balance - we were told they were open until 6pm or we could come back in the following day to settle it. Julian showed my husband to our pitch which was down in the far/bottom field nearest to the woods. Part of the pitch was a bit muddy due to the weather so Julian put lots of duckboard down for us and it wasn't a problem. The back of our pitch was a high beech hedge with the river behind it. It was perfect for just taking our dogs for a quick morning/late evening walk for a pee.
Despite it being a bank holiday weekend when we arrived and the site being busy it wasn't crowded and we didn't feel 'hemmed in'. This is due to the open aspect and the surrounding fields and trees on the site.
There's a small older toilet block and the main washblock is down by reception and the shop. It was kept extremely clean during our visit and the showers weren't the push button variety - a big bonus in my husband's eyes. There was plenty of room in the shower which was temperature adjustable. There were plenty of hooks in both the shower part and the drying area - well done for getting this right.
The shop was well stocked with a variety of goods and Porlock is only a 10 minute drive with a One Stop if you run out of anything and the site shop isn't open.
There are plenty of walks from the site - into the woods or you can walk into Porlock (although we took the car). It's only 1/2 a mile a so into Horner which we walked. There's a tea room there so a cream tea just had to be ordered!
We liked Porlock Weir - parking is opposite the pubs (The Ship and Millers at The Anchor) - £1. 50 for up to 2 hours although you can stay for longer. Try the Somerset Fruit Forager Cider at The Ship - it's fab. Dunster Castle isn't far and we were able to take our 2 dogs around the gardens and grounds.
We loved this site and felt really relaxed - and that's how it should be. We extended our stay by a day/night and we'll definitely be back sometime in the future.

This is a lovely friendly campsite. The owner Julian was always around and stopped to have a quick chat to see if everything was ok. The campsite was very busy and extremely popular with families, I think probably due to the riding stables on site which we didn't use (we have our own horses at home so it was nice to have a break from them) but the ponies all looked in fab condition. The facilities were spot-on and always spotlessly clean, I especially liked the large laundry room which had two large washing machines and two industrial size tumble dryers.
The 'gem' for us though were the fabulous walks directly from the site, we walked every day and didn't do the same walk twice. My hubby actually found part of a walk where he had to stop for a breather which is rare - Tuckers Path! There's a short walk into Porlock which has a couple of nice pubs, Co-Op and another convenience shop, post office etc. We walked to Bossington and along to Porlock Weir which is a nice walk but after a large lunch at the Bottom Ship (the Top Ship is in Porlock just at the bottom of Porlock Hill) we got the bus back to Porlock. Outside the site and just down the road are two little tea-rooms, we didn't go in but they looked busy. Just a word of warning though is that the walks can be rather hilly, I would recommend buying a map from the shop and plan your walks using the contour lines on the map - a bit of Geography lesson! We took the gentler slopes up and steep slopes down!
Overall a fantastic site although if I was to be really picky I did find the congregation of kids in the evening rather annoying, we had our two kids with us (13 and 17) so I'm not anti-kids but found the way they kept running across our pitch and hiding behind our caravan a bit much. Unfortunately there is no play area which is a shame if the kids want a game of cricket or a kick around.

Very nice mixed site. Facilities block is at least Caravan Club standard so no one need be concerned about quality and cleanliness. Laundry room has commercial units at a good price too. Owners and Staff are all good people and helpful. Lots of places to visit in the area, walkers will be delighted. Butlins up the road at Minehead has day passes for the family who want holiday camp entertainment for the kids. Horse riding has a variety of choices, well kept horses and ponies and the staff are very good. The scenic ride up the beacon is definitely scenic, has a couple of canters on it if required and a steep downhill trek back to the stables which is very interesting for those used to riding in flat country. Go on, pay a visit, you know you want to and you won`t be disappointed. Don`t leave late or arrive early, the short approach lane is very difficult for passing.

If you love walking then this is the site for you. Miles of walks direct from the site which means you don't have to use your car, or motorhome. It's a bit of an up and down walk into Porlock but there are loads of flatter walks for those who prefer them.
Warm welcome on arrival and we were shown to our pitch by the site owner who also checked throughout the week if we were ok and did we have any problems.
Very well stocked shop which carried all of the essentials including the daily delivery of newspapers. Showers, toilets, pot wash room and laundry were all kept clean and tidy.
Also has on site stables for anyone wishing to go for a horse ride.
We would highly recommend this site to everyone and hope to go back ourselves

We have just returned from a 1 night stay at Burrowhayes Campsite. We really enjoyed it. The campsite is in a lovely setting at a pony trekking centre.
The facilities were excellent, possibly the best we have ever experienced! The facilities were very spacious. Both male and female areas had several toilets, several sinks, 5 showers and there was even 2 cubicles that contained a sink and mirror. Everything was thought of, there were even racks in the shower cubicles to put your shower gel etc on. There was also a bench and lots of hooks in each shower cubicle. There was never a queue for the facilities and they were spotlessly clean even though the campsite was fairly busy with a large group staying.
The site itself was quite slopey in some places, however we found a lovely flat area. The site is very big and there was plenty of room to spread out. There is a well stocked shop on site with absolutely everything you could need during your stay including a few camping necessities such as hooks, ropes etc.
There was a little room with lots of leaflets on things to do in the area. Campers even had access to free Wifi on site!
Overall, a fantastic site with superb facilities!

We have stayed at this site a few time now and loved it every time we've been. The service is brilliant and the toilets, showers etc are clean and well thought out. The big bonus is horse/pony rides.
It's close to Minehead, Porlock, Lynton and Lynmouth. Plenty of shops close by and also some stunning countryside.
This is how all campsites should be run and we will be retuning regularly.
