 We have just returned from an enjoyable weekend at 'The Cud Life', which is located at Spruisty Hall Farm, in open countryside just outside Harrogate.
This is a new venture for the friendly hosts, David and Tanya, who are quickly learning on their feet and seem determined to make it work.
Part of a level(ish) well drained field to the east of the farmhouse has been fenced off to create the camp site. 16 amp electric hook-up points have been installed around 3 sides of the perimeter fence. A fire pit has been placed in the centre and there is a good view across the Nidd valley below. The surrounding land is used for raising young cattle, which proved a great attraction for visiting children.
A new unisex toilet block has been built and fitted to a high standard. It consists of 2 roomy toilet cubicles, 2 massive shower cubicles and 3 wash basins. Outside there are two cavernous undercover washing up sinks, along with the water point and rubbish bins. The chemical toilet emptying area is behind the building and could perhaps do with some screening.
The site is located directly off the A61 just to the north of Harrogate, but it is well enough away from the road to mean that we didn't detect any traffic noise. The entrance splay isn't easy to spot until you are right upon it, so if your SatNav accepts coordinates then its worth programming these in 54. 01756, -1. 56097
Stop and announce your arrival at the top of the 500m single track access road once the farm buildings come into view. The camping area is then located along a track that passes in front of the farmhouse on your right.
The site's proximity to Harrogate and Knaresborough mean that you are never far away from groceries, pubs and takeaways. We bought a Chinese from The Imperial in Harrogate on Tanya's recommendation, and were not disappointed.
We wish them every success in this new dimension to their busy lives and will return to the site when next visiting the area.

We had an amazing stay at the cud life site, so peaceful and the views are beautiful, all you can hear are the birds tweeting and the cows chatting occasionally. The pitches were lovely and the ground was great with electric hook ups to each point. They have a great fire pit and we all sat round chatting until dark and had a lovely barbie. The toilet block was immaculate and the power shower was better than the one I had at home, they have thought of everything down to heated towel rails, baby changing matt on the wall, hairdryers, ghds and a radio for whilst your getting ready. Lovely big washing up sinks and I must say we didn't have any problems with the shared toilet block. It is only 10 minutes in the car to the centre of Harrogate and you can walk to the local pub in killinghall if you wanted. There is so much to do this is the perfect location for a base to go off out each day walking or exploring with family. We had an amazing time and will be definitely be going back in August. The only bad point I had to come home.

Lovely peaceful site even with fields full of cows all around you. New site so all new facilities & apart from the freezing cold showers (think this may have been sorted now though) couldn't have asked for more, hairdryer & ghd's in unisex shower/toilet block and not nailed down! Personally I don't like shared facilities, but didn't put me off! Firepit in middle of field. Lots of space for kids to play. Would stay again if in the Harrogate area.
