Brilliant campsite run by a friendly no-nonsense family.
Lots of showers all with seating and hot water (plus a new mother and child larger cubicle this year). Excellent Fish & Chips. Playarea for kids is great for all ages. Shop sells amazing bread (as well as milk, camping essentials etc).
Didn't try pizza but croissants fab in the morning for £1)
I love the fact that a member of staff does a drive by every evening to make sure no one is running riot. They lock the gates at 11pm which is great for security.
The second year we have been to this site. Good sized hard standing pitches, showers and toilets very clean but a bit dated. Fish and chip shop and pizza shop on site but cannot comment as we didn't try.
The best thing about the site is its location, in the village within a short walk of the pubs, shop and beach. Recommend 'The Thatch' for good pub grub but can get very busy and 'The Blue Reef' for a nice relaxed dinner. Great walks and views to be had walking around the coastal path and the surf museum in Braunton is well worth a visit.
The only thing that is going to stop us returning is a no dog policy during high season and we have just adopted a dog!
Had a friendly welcome after a long rainy drive and was given a map showing our pitch and the facilities. The pitch was hard stand with plenty of room for our awning. The showers were hot and powerful and we never had to queue for any facilities which were kept very clean and checked regularly. They are very strict about wet suits being taken into the showers, but do provide large containers of water outside so people can rinse there suits out.
The site is well positioned being 2 mins walk to the village centre and 5 mins down a path to the beach and what a beach it is. Golden sand, plenty of space, good surf and patrolled by RNLI lifeguards (who do a great job keeping everyone safe). We ate in the Thatch bar a few times with the food being good and reasonably priced, you must try their ribs, they are huge, tasty and look like something Fred Flintstone has for dinner!
There is a bus stop outside the site and we took the bus to Braunton and Barnstable. The buses seemed good value at £3. 50ish for a ticket that allowed you to get on and off the buses all day.
Overall a great week and we are already talking about going back for 2 weeks next year!
We have just come back from a wonderful week in Croyde. The campsite was brilliant, one of the best I have ever used.
The showers/toilets were plentiful and clean, the staff were so friendly and the on site Pizza and Fish and Chip shops were yummy!
It is in a brilliant location, just 5 minutes walk to the beach and a couple of minutes walk to the village housing 4 lovely pubs, two ice cream parlours, gift shops and a grocery/post office/bakery.
This is going to sound sad but we did miss our wi-fi, we couldn't check on weather/sea conditions etc.
Other than that we absolutely loved this quiet site and can't wait to go back!
We love this site and have been coming here for over 10 years. The staff are always friendly and welcoming.
The kids play in the park at the top or in the field where there is usually enough room to kick a ball; and the field at the bottom is great for flying kites.
The toilets are showers are plentiful and clean. When the kids were little there is a sink to bath them in.
Overall it is a great site and we hope to return here for many years to come.
Award-winning camping and glamping on the edge of Dartmoor National Park near Tavistock, Devon. 40 grass and hardstanding pitches for tents, touring caravans and motorhomes with optional electric hook-ups. Choose between the scenic Daffodil Field with moorland views or the sheltered old walled garden. For those preferring a bit more comfort, the park provides camping pods and mega pods.
Immaculate facilities with free hot showers, toilets, hairdryers, underfloor heating, laundry, dishwashing, games room, small shop, WIFI and playground. The onsite manor house hosts a dog-friendly restaurant and bar serving evening meals. Surrounded by mature woodlands with direct access to Dartmoor, with Tavistocks amenities just a short drive away. Perfect spot to explore Devon and Cornwall's main attractions Find out more here
We spent a wet and wild few days at this site last week! We were using our vw camper for the first time! The site is well located with an easy walk to the village and a slightly longer walk to the beach - was ok for us with surf boards etc. Felt longer on the way back after a hard day in the water!
We had a flat battery - inexperience with our new Zig converter - and the site staff very helpfully gave us a jump start.
The weather was terrible on the Thursday and it was good to see the staff helping people put down awnings to save them from the wind!
Toilets, showers dish washing very clean and no queues. Nice to have the radio playing in this area.
Fresh bread/croissants in the morning from the small 'Pizza Hut' was a god send. Delicious but slightly pricey fish and chips also available on site.
Would use again - but I agree with previous post that it is a bit expensive but you are in Croyde!
We stayed at Bayview over the Bank Holiday, and as per usual, it was lovely. The weather was not very good, but nevertheless, the welcome was very warm.
We feel that although it is not the cheapest place to stay, the tranquillity, cleanliness and location make it worth every penny.
I would recommend this site to anyone looking for a peaceful, holiday. Although we do not have children, the site is very child friendly, with safety a big factor that they take seriously.
Spent a week at Bay View Farm at the end of July with my sister and two other families - 11 children and 7 adults.
Camping is on three fields, with separate family and couples fields (and a big sign saying no groups). Other areas were for camper vans and caravans. Mix of serviced and non-serviced pitches (we never bother) and plenty of water taps (though the nearest was a bit slow). Pitches are clearly marked and just about big enough (we had four pitches in a row so didn't really matter if we encroached on each other's pitches).
Main toilet block was great - we never had to queue for anything (toilets / showers / washing up) and the hot water was always plentiful (although sometimes a little hot for the children). Mostly kept pretty clean, but only closed for a proper clean once a day. Also a laundry room.
There is a lovely children's play area at the top of the site which is well worth the walk up the hill - slides, climbing frames, obstacle course and a tunnel for the little ones to clamber through. And a fab zip wire! Another set of toilets up there are well hidden but again kept clean. Plenty of open areas and empty pitches for them to play games.
We found all the staff extremely friendly, and they regularly patrol the site to make sure everything is as it should be. They are very strict on visitors, which on balance is a good thing - we felt very secure in letting the children wander around.
Campsite Reception sells lots of beach stuff and they were the cheapest in Croyde. Also bread, eggs and camping spares etc. Also a fish and chip shop (expensive, but convenient, and those that tried it said the chips were good!) and a pizzeria (we didn't try it, but did have freshly baked croissants from there one morning which were lovely).
Chickens and a fab cockerel roaming around the site were nice to see - never did find where they lay though!
Beach is about 10 minute walk (signage says 5!), and once you cross the main road outside the campsite the route is safe for children. Beach, dunes and surf fabulous.
Croyde has three pubs - The Thatch and Billy Budds are really one big pub with a shared beer garden, and the Thatch having a bigger menu. We ate at Billy Budds and it was good (and fast) pub grub. You must UST try the Thatchers Gold cider in the The Thatch with the slushy top - perfect after a day on the beach! Didn't try the other pub, as it was a bit further on. Road is very narrow and has no footpath in places - keep a tight hold of the little one's arms.
Croyde also has two ice cream shops (both good), couple of surf shops (including Saltrock), Post Office and a general store (great pasties), a bistro and a Skoda dealer! Braunton (about 5 miles) has a Tesco and a Saltrock outlet which had some good deals on body boards and wet suits.
It is not a cheap campsite, but we thought it was a fabulous place which was perfect for children. Can you tell we liked it? We'll be back!
Super little campsite with great views and in a good location. My bug with this one is firstly trying to book, by mail only if you want to be prepared, they only start answering the phone in April on a Thursday morning.
They are lovely but not flexible at all on arrival date (Saturdays only), we asked for a serviced pitch on arrival we found it only to be electric hook up and water drainage hole, there was a push down tap shared with next caravan so no chance of hooking up.
Overall this is highly priced but I guess they can get away with it for the location and views.
Plenty of showers, never having to queue but push button last about 10 seconds which is very irritating, sometimes hot and fast sometimes not.
Love Croyde but think they need to improve their services.
A big thank you for making my first camping experience one of which I would love to repeat. We stayed in the couples field which had a perfect view of Lundy Island and the sea.
The toilet blocks were clean & the little touches like breeze blocks for bbq's & tanks to wash wet suits were awesome!
We had fish & chips from the place on site & the little shop had everything we needed Including freezing our ice packs which the 60p this cost went to a local charity!
We hope to go back soon & reckon this is a wicked place to spend a week with or without the weather!
