A nice spot within walking distance of Croyde beach and the toilets were really clean and well kept. That said it was very expensive from my point of view (27 a night) and the staff were rude. We went with a group of friends but were not allowed to pitch together (one had to go in the campercan field, one in the couples field and us in the families field). I guess this set up is good if your are travelling without friends but it was a pain for us as two of us had small children so couldn't socialise very easily at night.I won't be going again.

Stayed here for one night while traveling around Devon and Cornwall. Probably picked the worst weekend of the year as there seamed to be some sort of surfing festival going on and the area was packed. Luckely out field wasnt, unlike the other fields at the site. Thought it was a rip off at 20 a night! I thougth they must have hiked the price cause of all the surfers but from reading other reviews it sounds like its always pricy. Also saw a sign that they had take down saying 2 nights minimum so it looks like they change the rules alot. Didnt find the staff helpful or pollite and saw them checking peoples tags in the morning to make sure no one stayed a minute over the time time they had paid for!
Site is only a few mins walk to beach and town. Handy for pubs and shops and there is a chip shop on site.
The toilets and showers were okay but very crowded when we were there.
Dont think Id go again or recomend it but it must be good for surfers and they were everywhere!

Good standard of cleanliness. Children's play area can be hard to find (at the top of field D through the hedge). Small laudry (I washer 1 dryer)Showers tend to be a bit on the hot side so be careful, especially with kids. 5 mins walk to village centre Pubs, small store, post office, ice cream parlour & surf hire shops. Comparatively expensive, I don't know if this is to discourage the young surfing fraternity. No all male/female groups, No dogs. Gates locked at night from approx 10:30 to 7:00 can be a problem if you have an early departure. Credit/Debit cards not accepted checques only over 25.

We arrived at the site late Sunday afternoon. We had phoned the day previously to book for 6 adults for 5 nights and been told to turn up. There was sure to be room when weekenders had gone home.
The campsite receptionist refused to let us stay because they had a 7 day minimum stay rule. She would have let us pay for 7 nights - but we declined when she told us the price which was nearly double that of other sites in the area!!!

We stayed on this site in 2003 and found the rules changed daily. The staff were unhelpful but we put up with it because of the site position.

Would suggest using other sites in the area because even after paying for car parking at the surrounding beaches our holiday worked out much, much cheaper and the staff on other sites are much more friendly and welcoming.

My kids (now 9 and 12) just love it here: (i) for the play area at the top of the site, (ii) for the body-boarding in Croyde Bay and (iii) for the Croyde ice-cream parlour!

The views from the site are fantastic, right across the bay to Baggy Point and out to Lundy Island.

We've been lucky and found decent pitches at the bottom of the hill and nearer to the facilities. Further up the hill it must be harder to find flat ground.

The toilets, showers, etc. have been excellent for both of our visits - I really have no complaints and I'm sure we'll be back soon.

The position of this campsite os wonederful and so long as you pitch your tent in the right position you can sit back and enjoy veiw of the sea and the sun setting! It's also very peaceful and a good place for young children - lots of room to run around and near the beach.
However we were very shocked at how expensive it was - the most we have ever paid. The toilet facilities were adequate but not very clean and the mens showers were scolding hot, too hot for my children or husband. When we complained they said the temp was set by the plumber and there was nothing they could do, they also said no one else had a problem, however all the men said the showers were too hot to use. We tried to use the disabled shower instead to wash our two children but it was broken!
Croyde bay is wonderful and brilliant for children and the pubs were good.
Will go back to Croyde Bay but not to Bay Veiw Campsite.

Very busy in school holidays. booking essetial unless you like camping on the side of a hill. Gates close before pub chuck-out time - if you are stuck on the A361 it might be worth phoning to let them know.Best Chip shop for miles - Some of the local so-called "Best of British" winners could take lessons from them.Showers do not have good control of temperature; little kids could get scalded.Croyde pubs are amongest the most expensive that I have ever used. There are no notable restaurants in the area. It's all mostly Soup in the Basket type of deal. The Bridge used to be good for Breakfast- now taken over by the people who had the eatery on the way out of Croyde towards the Manor PH
