Great site, very clean and tidy. Toilets were kept spotless. The site is next to a country park which is great for walks, my kids loved it

There's a small club house over the road ( this is a small dead end road so the only cars are campers so safe for kids ). Club house small but clean and modem, plus there is a swimming pool which all can use now but you have to pay,

The town is a good 15 min walk but a nice one through the park. This is a good site in a good location

We visited Shearbarn on the August bank holiday weekend and I was a bit apprehensive after reading some of the reviews, although my parents used to go years ago when it was under different ownership and enjoyed their regular stays. 4 of us went in all - two couples in our 30s. My sat nav also ended up taking us to a housing estate (If this happens, go back the way you came, turn left and take the second on the left into Saxon Road). We checked in at Shearbarn itself. The staff were efficient and polite. They directed us up to their tent area - the Hastings Touring Park. Although busy, there was plenty of room; the grass was short and the area looked tidy.

The toilet block & showers were clean all weekend. Water pressure was quite low but not to warrant complaining. Shearbarn itself contains £50k log cabins and their owners enjoy gym, indoor pool and a smart club house called The Glen. Campers up in the touring park do not have access to the pool or gym but this was made clear when booking. We ate and enjoyed evening drinks at The Glen. The atmosphere was friendly, the staff were very good, as was the food and they provided a band for evening entertainment.

Location-wise, the campsite was approx a 15-20 minute walk to Hastings Old Town - all down hill. The Old Town is ideal for fishing, shopping with its Olde Shops, tea shops and a good selection of cafes, pubs, fish & chip shops and rides etc further down. Good walks and the tram up the cliff face add to the choice of things to do. We enjoyed drinks at a friendly pub & a meal at a nice Italian along the front and decided to catch a taxi back at the end of the night which for £5 was no problem considering we would otherwise have had an up hill walk!

With regards to noise, we had no major issues. In fact security went round around at 10.45pm to politely remind those sitting out chatting of the 11pm-7am quiet time and they used their common sense in allowing this for however long was needed as long as no one was being disturbed. There were no roudy groups and I feel that if there were any noise issues, security would have dealt with it. Children could be heard around from around 7.30am which I consider reasonable!

The only negative that springs to mind is that the small shop was badly stocked and we had to drive to the local B&Q & shops for gas and papers etc.

All in all though we had a very enjoyable weekend and I would certainly return.

I agree with other comments made by other visitors re the showers and toilet blocks for campers - they are out-dated and it is actually very difficult to have a shower in the old blocks on the tent area as not enough water comes out! However, it is well worth it to drive back down to the new block at the gates to the campsite as the showers there work perfectly and the toilets and wash basins were all new. Please also note that the campsite has now employed a new cleaner who is doing the best she can in the older blocks.

The shop on the site has basic supplies only - milk, bread, tea, coffee etc. They also have freezer blocks for cold boxes for a reasonable deposit & rent. If you get there when they open in the morning you also get the pick of goodies from a local bakery - not a huge choice, but they looked good.

The campsite is on the edge of Hastings Country Park which is well worth exploring. Suggest wearing hiking boots as there is a lot of scrabbling around in the woods to do and some of the paths are very steep. Beautiful views at the tops of the cliffs and lots of paths to explore. There are steps down to the beach at the bottom of Dripping Well, but it is fenced off and not officially open. A local lady told me it is possible to get there down safely, but I didn't have time to try.

Also worth walking back inland to the campsite as the fields have been planted with bird attracting plants and there are sunflowers that looked beautiful on a sunny day.

All Saint's Street is worth a visit in the old town as many old and beautiful houses including the Piece of Cheese house a few steps up one of the twittens. Lots of lovely independent small shops in the old town too - well worth exploring!

Rock a Nore, where the net huts are is worth a visit. A couple of fresh fish shops here selling fish caught locally - great for the BBQ (Ask for some ice if you are walking back to the campsite!). Also, there is a stall selling fresh fish baps - locally caught fish, fried in olive oil while you wait & put in a bap - lovely! The fisherman's museum is here too - full of photos of salty sea dogs & tales of adventures at sea. Very interesting.

Not sure where it is, but somewhere in the old town is a pub called First In Last Out which is a micro-brewery. Mike's Mild was lovely on a hot summer's day and they also do food. They have a website so worth looking up before you go.

Lots of fish & chip shops on the seafront, but we found one that was excellent - Neptunes. It's just behind a resident's carpark on the seafront and is very small, seating about 24 people inside, but the fish was beautifully cooked with lovely batter and the chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside - just how they should be! Friendly staff & always seemed to be busy.

We visited this site for the second time in July this year. Standards seem to have slipped. There was no soap to wash hands in the ladies, the toilets were untidy and unkempt. There was no mop or bucket to clean out the shower before you went in/or came out, resulting in standing in other peoples dirt, not very appealing.

Large groups of people were allowed onto the site, where they made up there own tent city, shouting, playing loud music and drinking most of the day and until 11-12pm. Other campers then turned up their music to try and drown out the noise coming from the large groups.

There were groups of teenagers walking around in fancy dress during day, off site people using the toilets. We left the site early, we did ask for a refund but were refused!. Be very careful!. This site attracts a LOT of noisy campers which is such a shame as the sites location is idyllic.

We will not be visiting again,.

This was just a quick fleeting visit as we were testing out our new tent. The site is a good 20-30 minute walk into Hastings that can either be made down the roadway to the site or through a lovely country park, finished off with a trip in the East Cliff lift that brings you out on the Stade.

Hastings Old Town is lovely, with plenty of one off shops and little pubs and restaurants. The Stade is currently going through a re-development phase, but this doesn't spoil the area.

The park shares facilities with Shearbarn Holiday Park and the pub attached to the site can be used by fellow campers/caravaners. We had a drink in the pub and it's very pleasant, although a little small for the size of the site, especially as some people are permanent residents.

The camp site itself is well laid out with a shower block at the front of the site and the other in the middle. However we'd agree with what others have said here: the showers are very shabby and dirty, with broken locks and in general need of being rebuilt and modernised. We've been to similar set ups for a lot cheaper and been met with cleanm], modern, working facilities. If the shower blocks were re-built, the £21 per night (with EHU) would be justifiable.

The security could also do more to disperse loud noisy groups that were causing a nuisance well into the early hours. Especially as the park has a code for quiet time between the hours of 11pm and 7am.

Would we visit again? Probably not as there are nicer sites for much less money.

The park is divided into a family area, that is close to the play parks, the sports field and the games room, and a peaceful adult-only area in The Meadows, that is ideal for couples. On both areas you will enjoy five-star, centrally-heated showers, and private cubicles with toilet, hand basin, dryers etc. Laundry and campers kitchens, a large childrens playground, sports field, games room and television lounge.  Good space on pitch size electrics all ok. Disappointed with the wash rooms cold water 3 days out of 5. Locks on doors broken and one day they were a disgrace very very dirty.

Overall we had a good break there the bar and food were good and fairly priced. There is a great walk over the downs to east cliff lift, which you can walk into hastings from.

Overall a good impression but for the wash rooms.

A bit more pricey than we wanted, but well worth it in the end!. Well signposted to the site, but don't use your sat nav to find place, does take you to a dead end housing estate!. Reception was closed when we arrived, but we booked in at the bar of the resort!

The site was big, with plenty of space, we pitched up after a small tour of the site. It did get busy next day but still plenty of space left.

Toilet's and showers were cleaned daily!, but did get a bit dirty by night!, washing up room bit small!, but I believe there were more about!.

But to sum up we had a great weekend, it was peaceful, didn't get noisy at night, security guys constantly on the beat going round the site.

Hasting's town near by but went by car!, a lot of hill's!, Plenty to do in Hasting's a historical town that I wished we could of explored more! The girls had a great time and were sad to leave and asked when we can return!.

So hopefully will return there again in the very near future!

The most expensive and quite honestly the worst site we have visited over the years. Not the easiest approach, especially over a Bank Holiday weekend and not the usual friendly welcome. We were not alone in having difficulty finding our pitch and surprised to find grass unmown.

Facilities were adequate but not particularly clean-bins all overflowing after weekend and not emptied at time of leaving. No play area for children.

Long walk down into town-seemed longer coming back uphill

In short, we will certainly not be returning

Have been to this campsite many times over this year, first in a tent then a touring caravan, every time has been great, the tent pitches are huge you can pitch anywhere, although on a bank holiday it does get very busy / noisy. The last time we went we were on the caravan pitches with electric.

The showers near the entrance are lovely warm and clean, the other shower blocks are old but serviceable, slight water pressure problem, the only thing is would say is if you go on a bank holiday the toilet and shower block at night can get rather dirty,no loo roll ect,but we have only ever found this at bank holiday times the rest of the year its always stayed to a high standard,i don't think this is really the staffs fault as they were always cleaning in the morning,i think its just the high number of campers using facilities as this time.

The site is really close to Hastings town, good shops a supermarket, the beach lots of things to do,well worth a stay.

Just returned from a happy week on this site with our four young children.

The site is well signposted from Hastings town centre. I made the mistake of following Sat Nav and ended up on a local housing estate.

When finally found site was very happy. If towing a caravan make sure you take the Gurth Road route to the site as the other route in is not suitable for caravans (signposted warning)

Very large and mainly flat sites with good mix of serviced and non serviced pitches.

Original pitch was too small for our 9 man tent but this was quickly resolved with a choice of two further and larger pitches.

Good security on site with barrier entrance and exits as well as visible security patrols at night.

Quiet time is 11pm-7am and site is for families and couples. We never heard a sound much past 10pm.

Little shop down road on holiday home site which has some basics.

Definitely need car or strong legs as a couple of miles to nearest supermarket / beach.

We only booked this site 18 hrs before arriving after cancelling a trip to North Wales due to poor weather forecast.

We felt we struck it lucky and had a great 6 days with good weather.

Toilet facilities are Ok- could be a little cleaner but showers are free and plenty of hot water.

Holiday home site has a bar and restaurant with free WIFI that you can use.

All in all a good site- we would go back !

Touring site well laid out and spacious, banks of trees to shelter behind as well as open spaces. Well organised arrival procedure and security gates with code to enter. Our tent had lots of room around it and options where to pitch but friends with camper van were rather squeezed in tight. I thought loos and showers ok, but more experienced camper thought inadequate for longer stay ( we only stayed 2 nights so not a problem). Nice quiet site too, with guys patrolling at night in little golf trolley to make sure all was good. Nice touch.

I live locally so can extol the beauties of the surrounding country park, beaches and old town as lovely and well worth a visit, so much to see and do, if you like town or country. Lots of eateries in old town, art galleries, cool shops as well as traditional seaside activities a ten minute walk (downhill) away. And a good base to explore further afield from. Also you can use the shop and restaurant on the static site just down the lane. So I'd really recommend it.

Had a lovely weekend at Shearbarn/Hasting Touring Campsite. The first time for us for ages, we took our two little grandsons ages 2 and 5 for a trial run holiday in our old campervan which they love. We had lovely weather and thought the site was really nice.
Lots of people there as it was Hastings Carnival Weekend. The site was peaceful with lots of families with small children. We really enjoyed it.
Toilets clean with plenty of supplies of the essentials. People very friendly.

We have just returned from a week at Hasting Touring Park. We chose this park because it had the best reviews and I must say we were not dissappointed. The site was very clean and the staff all friendly and helpful.
The site is huge with loads of space for a big tent. The shower block by the main entrance was the best, modern big and great hot showers. The toilets were kept clean.
I would certainly use this site again, it is a great base and dog friendly with some lovely walks just through the gate.
If you go to Rye harbour go to the William the Conquerer pub where you will have a great value lunch plus they will let your dog in.

We booked for Bank holiday weekend, so expected it to get busy. Arrived Thursday and found staff very helpful and park was pretty quiet.

We were located near the older toilet block and found these clean and tidy.

However as the site began to get busier things got a little crowded, not sure how many this site is suppose to take, but by the Sunday it was over-run.

The facilities could not keep up, bins began to over-flow, kids playing field even had tents pitched up on it!

We were lucky as we have a fully functioning caravan, but for those tenting, there were a lot of unhappy campers. Not sure if the site was over filled, but the old toilet block has only 4 male showers and 4 toilets, which were clearly not able to cope with such a massive demand.

The site from that is pretty level and has the facilities provided from the static park, access can be a real issue though as even with a car it can be a tight squeeze if you meet something larger coming the other way.

Probably a great site in the quieter periods, and is loal to Hastings old town so good links, but I doubt we'd go back at another bank holiday as at 100% capacity (think it was more) things got a little messy, but we made the best of it, as did most people despite the high winds!

Had a great long weekend here in May.Weather brilliant so that helped.Loads of room on the pitches and in the camping field there was about half an acre each!

Attraction for us were the country side and amazing cliff-top walks. The dog thoroughly enjoyed them! Many walks just down the lane from the site.

Facilities OK water could have been hotter, Restaurant and Bar on site also good and comfortable for a drink it rainy weather.

Steep approach to the site and a number of people had missed the turn off but once found easily returned to.

Plenty to do in Hastings, seaside, shops amusement arcades, quaint fishing huts. The list goes on. We were there for the Morris Festival or Green Day and then had the treat of hundreds of bikers and then back for another cliff top walk.

Great site for us then reasonable price and for a luxurious shower go to the block near the entrance they're all brand new.
