We went camping over May bank holiday.
Hookup pitches are a really good size, we managed to set up 2X 4 man tents with plenty of room for 2 vehicles.
The shower blocks are okay.
I was a bit disappointed with the clubhouse though. I know they have spent a lot of money revamping and remodelling, but it is a third of the size. And it seems to be catering for a certain clientèle. We felt quite uncomfortable with our kids there amongst all the leather sofas and wooden dining tables.
The is a tiny soft playroom in the corner, but I didn't think it was very safe.
We might use the site again, but not because of the facilities, just due to location and the fact we have been camping there for nearly 7 years.
I don't recommend if you want a family break with evening entertainment.

Just returned from a brilliant weekend at the Hastings touring park.
Although in a tent had an electric pitch which was a good size. The ground was well maintained and the grass not to long.
The toilet block which was near us (the middle of the site) was adequate and cleaned regularly. The one near the entrance is nicer with larger shower cubicles etc but further to walk.
Shame you aren't allowed the use of the swimming pool but could use the other facilities on the main site although with the exception of the shop I can't comment on as we didn't use them. The shop was well stocked and all the staff over the site were very pleasant and helpful.
The entrance can be tricky and hills and bends on the approach especially if you are towing.
Hastings seafront is within walking distance either using the cliff lift or walking down the cliff steps although driving is easier and can normally find somewhere to park.
All in all a good site with good facilities.
Would certainly use them again.

We stayed here at Easter with the aim of taking in some sea air and seeing the historic aspect of Hastings.
Our reception on arrival was friendly and informative; with lots of information available about the Sussex area. There is a nice looking swimming pool, but forget it if you have a tent, it is only for use of the caravan owners (shame really).
The campers field is large (slightly bumpy and long grass), but with no designated pitches you can set up where you feel like. Unfortunately there was lot of dog fowl around so watch where you set up.
The toilet block is clean and well stocked, but the showers have water pressure problems that the reception office tell you about on arrival. You are allowed to use any toilet block you wish, but they are further away!.
The trip into Hastings is down a steep hill so we found the only way to get there was by car, but there is loads of parking and not too expensive.
We visited the smugglers adventure caves which is great for children; we also bought a combined entry ticket to the sealife centre, which is small but very nice. The tickets seem very expensive for what is at the attractions (especially if you have a family). We also went to Hasting Castle which was interesting, but not on the same scale as some castles or ruins available in the UK.
There are plenty of places to eat in Hasting, including some great fish & chip places. All in all it is definitely worth a visit.
We found the overall campsite a little out of the way for things to see and as previously said rather noisy; but the people and locals are friendly. It is a nice easy and very pleasant drive from London and the campsite is very well signposted.
Overall the stay was satisfactory but I do not think we will be staying here again.

Please note this listing is for Hastings Touring Park, not Shearbarn Holiday Homes which adjoins it, although visitors to the touring park are able to use the bar and restaurant next door.
Shearbarn caters for owner residential holiday homes only, and you can search for it's own listing, which will be found under that name.
This listing is for the touring park only, which accepts tents, caravans, motorhomes, etc

This site has residential units for sale only. Please don't confuse with the touring park, previously called Shearbarn, now separate and called Hastings Touring Park. The touring park has it's own entry on this website.

We Went to this site for the August Bank holiday 08, for a 4 day break. We were pleased to have a lovely level pitch, although a bit small (grass a bit long but hey) the new toilet block was lovely, the old one grotty but serviceable, good hot water. The last day of our stay the water system had been sabotaged and the toilets did not flush but that was not their fault Our only criticism was that there was a swimming pool but as tent stayers we were not allowed to use it, even to pay, which disappointed the children in our party. The outdoor play area was very nice.
We will certainly return again in the future as it offered everything we required. Must say the new bar area very nice indeed, the soft play area is very hot though as no ventilation.
A very enjoyable weekend had by all

I was rather impressed on my arrival there, we only went for one night on the Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend. It was my Fiancés first time Camping so it was an experience for him.
We found a lovely sheltered spot by some trees and assembled our new tent. We were a short walk from the toilet block, which on arrival were lovely and clean, but by the early hours of the morning I discovered they were badly blocked, not good when you have food poisoning!
This was dealt with by 11am on Monday morning before we were due to leave.
We were a bit disappointed that there wasn't a view of the sea as we had been told there was. A short drive into Hastings, we weren't adventurous enough to do the Cliff walk.
A lovely quiet site and there was a bar/restaurant a few minutes walk away but we chose not to use it as we were only there for one night. We would go back again but maybe not on a Bank Holiday weekend as it was rather busy.

Came to this site when we first started tenting 10 years ago with our 14 year old son and used it many times thereafter with friends. It catered for all our needs at that time and were situated in the tent field (the first area being for caravans with the posh wash block with key pad so nobody from the tent field could use it) How times have changed, after being told that the touring park had shut for a year (to clear it of all the rough clientèle) us campers can now use the touring park (that's if you want electric hook-up) and the whole experience of camping there has now changed, no regimented rows of seasonal tourers just open spaces of like minded campers / caravanner's and motorhomers. All they need to do now is sort out where you book in as original reception moved.

We went for 4 nights, lovely site, nice and clean, people friendly, reception staff very helpful and the shop was fine, it had what I needed anyway The walks and countryside lovely. Hastings: well lots shops bigger then I expected. Don't miss Battle that was a good day out, really old style village. We also took a trip out to Bodium castle what a fairy tale castle, loved all what we saw and we will be back in the future, and to this lovely camp site.

My Partner and I visited this site in May Half term. We were a bit apprehensive because of the reviews we'd read, and also the horrendous weather! Having delayed our trip to avoid the worst of the storms, we arrived at the site for a 3 night stay. As the touring caravan site was quiet, the lady at reception gave us the option to pitch our tent on there, instead of on the tent field.
The toilet block was very clean and was cleaned daily by a very jolly woman, and the showers were hot and consistent! There are a few toilet / shower blocks further up towards the tent field but we didn't use them so can't compare them to the caravan ones.
The site was nice enough - it was really quiet because of the weather but seemed like it would be really busy in the summer, with not much to do. There is a pool onsite, but only for those with static caravans. The restaurant and bar seemed nice enough but we happily cooked on our little BBQ and gas stove (no fires allowed - immediate removal off site apparently). The shop is small but had the basics - the couple who run it have lots of local knowledge and directed us to a few places we would have missed, including a huge nature reserve minutes up a footpath!
The site suited us well, as we were quite happy to do our own thing and it was quiet. Those with families will need a car to get into town as the facilities onsite are really basic and will be busy in peak times I should imagine.

This is a camp site I used to go to when I was a child, its good to see it has not changed in spite of the development of the static site. The surrounding area make this site, with walks from the site. There are 3 toilet blocks 1 of them new but all well maintained and cleaned. We had such a lovely time we went back in May and plan on going back in the future.

We visited from Thursday until Tuesday, a good long weekend in hail, rain, snow and wind! Much as we arrived at 8pm in the dark the overnight warden was very helpful and happy to get himself wet too in order to get us onto our pitch.
The site is in 2 sections, the first one being for owner occupied lodges which is where all of the facilities are, the other being the touring / tent fields further up the road (but still just a quick stroll away from the bar etc). The washblock facilities were warm and clean, showers good, although, the ones serving the tent field are more basic. If you are going in a touring caravan with hook up you will be near enough to the better block. Some of the pitches also have water, although they do not advertise this so worth asking when you book.
We have a young baby and a dog and felt this was a very friendly, welcoming site, on the edge of superb woodland walks, very close to the town, supermarkets etc.
It took us 5 hours each way to visit and we're glad we went! We only visited the bar on our last night, it is very clean, modern, welcomes families and certainly listening to others on the site, has a fabulous busy atmosphere on its busier nights.

This camp site is ideal for Hastings you can walk through a park along the cliff tops and down into the old town in about 20 to 30 minutes, sadly the site is not as good as it should be, the facilities are poor entertainment only on a Saturday night. A set of mini football nets and a couple of swings for the children. The shower block at the entrance to the touring and tent pitches are kept up to a good standard but the other block in the middle of the field is not up to standard. I reported a leak on the waste toilet, water gushed out ofter it was flushed, all over your feet if you are not quick enough to move, this was not repaired during my stay on site The large screen in the bar / lounge fell off the wall this also did not get put back on during the second week of my stay, my friend reported problems with his electric hook up they told him to use the next one along, nobody came to check the problem. There was a shop on site near to the main reception with the basics. If you just want a base to visit Hastings and the surrounding area then this site is okay I would not recommend it to any one though I will not use it again if or when we visit the area again.

We booked up this campsite on the August bank holiday, from the reviews this seemed a nice site, which it was. The location was lovely approx 3 miles from Hastings beach & town. They have 2 large tent fields(non hook up) at the rear of the site which are next to fields, so no road noise. The campsite is very large so if you plan to go away peak season on weekends or bank holidays then try to get there on the Friday or early to get a good place! The only disappointment we had with this campsite was the toilet/shower facilities. Unfortunately they were in need of a revamp! Even if they were cleaned you wouldn't know the difference. Also the water pressure was non-existent. This let the campsite down as the rest of the site was of a high standard. However if you don't mind jumping in your car or a long walk the facilities at the entrance to the site are much better.

Just come back from this site, and contrary to previous reviews this site does take tents. We found the staff and the badgers really friendly. The Toilet blocks were clean, although there was one that was closed, however we were warned about this first so just chose to camp near the open block. They now have security on site to work the entry barriers and they also patrol the site. This is the nearest site to town and there are great walks down across the cliff top, if you can't face the walk back up a taxi only costs about £4.00 from the old town. We took a group of friend with us and we will all be going back again!
