Stayed here for two night don't live far from this site so used it quite a few times. Usual high CC facilities, new wardens there. Not much privacy in ferry pitches as trees have been cut down to about 5 feet. Lots of rabbits still running about. Black Horse pub over the road has been cleaned up, new landlady has taken over. Only one moan - we have noticed that the showerheads need descaling so you don't get full benefit of the lovely hot water

We stayed here for one night only before catching ferry to France as its about 10 miles to Dover. We booked in advance as we didn't want to be unlucky but there were plenty of pitches going spare, by booking in advance though you have to phone and pay before arrival. The Ferry pitches are before the barrier but we didn't encounter any security problems.
There are pubs and a local shop within walking distance and an out of town retail park about 5 mins drive away. I would defo use again.

We stayed at Black Horse farm C.C site from 31/12/08 to 3/01/09 before travelling to Spain and would recommend it to anyone , the sites facilities were the usual C.C standard the wardens very helpful and friendly

They even laid on a New Years Eve get together for the members with free buffet and refreshments .

Would definitely recommend the site for either a short or long stay without any hesitation .

Dont believe the negative comment you may read in a previous post try it for yourself and make up your own mind

First time at a Caravan club site and well impressed. Very handy for Dover ferries took us 20 mins drive. Very clean and tidy. Nearest pub 300 yards but not up too much unless your involved in Tattos and sticky carpets ! Magpie pub 500 yards further on down the road much better. Small shop opposite entrance very handy. Will return without a doubt.

To find site:- Continue to the end of the M20 towards Dover, just past the tunnel on the A20 take slip road signed for A 260 and follow signs for Canterbury. Go through Hawkinge and continue to Densole, the site is just past the Black Horse Inn on the left.

Site is open all year and accepts non-members and tents. I would think that it would be advised to book ahead in peak season. This is a lovely site situated about 10 miles from Dover and about 8 miles from Eurotunnel. As a result those making their way back and forth to the Port, or the Tunnel, frequently use it.

Just behind the reception, with no need to go through the security barrier, is an area of about 20 hard standing pitches, which are reserved for those staying overnight in order to catch a crossing to France. This allows minimal disturbance to those staying on site for several days. For those coming from the UK the latest you can arrive at the site is 8.00pm, please contact the site for more information.

Black Horse Farm is a site which is well worth a stay in itís own right. The site is divided into several pitching areas some on hard standing and the rest on grass. There is a small area for tents with itís own separate parking area. The tree planting and shrubs are just starting to mature which enhances the look and feel of the site. The other pitches are further into the site beyond a card-controlled barrier. There are two really excellent toilet blocks. Other facilities include a childrenís play area, a dog walk and an information room.

This site also has storage facilities. Black Horse Farm was meant to be in the second phase of CC sites to have WiFi installed. Apparently there has been a problem with this installation and it is not yet up and running. (late April 2008)

Just across the road from the site is a small general store, which includes a Post Office. Further along the road is the Black Horse Inn, which does meals. There are many other opportunities to explore the surrounding are if you stay is longer than just over night.

A second two day stay with elderly disabled relative this time. Wheelchair accessability splendid throughout, apart from not being able to gain entry to gents toilet due to high step. I wasnt aware of any ramp provisions on site and although a dropped kerb to lead up to toilet / shower block was there, it was lucky that my relative could manage to assend said step with help.
Just as our last visit, we were more than happy with the site, and will be in no doubt that we shall return in the future.

Decided on this site as it was fairly local to us for our first try with our caravan. A lovely clean and well kept site with all grassed areas kept tidy with hedge borders for extra privacy. We had a good position with lots of room to spread out. The toilet and shower block in our area was spotless, with showers that were hot and powerfull if required. A local Tesco express was a blessing when a BBQ failed to deliver, so a nip out in the car for two minutes saved the day. All in all a wonderfull time, friendly place just the job for a weekend break, and we shall be coming back for sure.

Massive disappointment! Booked months ago but upon arrival was sited on hard standing (we asked for grass, told ground not good enough despite being told on the phone on Fri that it was all fine!) alongside short stay area, in fact believe it was also short stay part of the site (perhaps the overflow). BEWARE - if you arrive and are told you will be in the short stay area or next to it & not behind the security barrier - you risk being woken all night long. Thanks to inconsiderate people leaving at all hours we had very disturbed nights. Perhaps the staff could mention that there ARE other members nearby who don't wish to be woken in the night. Found them most awkward and unhelpful (apart from one nice warden, the man with the beard).

The site itself is very cramped. The dog walk area is quite nice but why is it next to the noisy childrens play area? - someone else mentioned on here that it's not nice for the children but it's also not suitable for nervous dogs to hear screaming children by their walking area.

All in all a very unsatisfactory stay, particularly as we paid top money for Bank Holiday and were not secure behind barriers - anyone could drive in throughout the night. Also there is no mention in the write up for this site regarding the road which is extremely close and seems to be busy 24/7.

Also you are advised to ride cycles at walking pace - why then does a warden zoom round the site on a moped certainly not at walking pace ! and also we did not appreciate the ride on tractor before 8am on Sunday morning.

A nice site up to usual Caravan Club standards. As mentioned in previous reviews the top half can get busy with people leaving at all times of the day and night to go on ferries.
Excellent playground for the kids (looks new) and a nice little dog walk for fido. Newsagent opposite the site, tesco express just down the road (open till 11pm) and a choice of fish n chips, kebabs, chinese or indian takeaways within 2 miles (indian was extremely tasty). Caravan shop about the same distance. Could be a great site for a weekend if you could get away from the short stay area.

Stayed Aug BH,this is mainly a caravan site and only a very small part for tents. If all pitches were booked it would be extremely cramped.
That being said at this busy time we had plenty of room. Good showers even though they close them for 2 1/2 hours for cleaning!
Friendly shop opposite and a nice little dog walking area on site.
Would definitely stay here again.
