Very nice site toilets showers well looked after very helpful lady at reception, have been to other sites in same area but this one was easy the best no doubt will return soon.
Local shops tecso/morrisons not far away
Plenty to do in surrounding area. Weather was pretty good just some rain on the sunday. After 11 at night, was nice and quiet no drunken people
Nice play area for kids, kept them busy for a while, also staff asked if we wanted rolls /milk ordered for next day which was nice touch
A pleasant site close to all that Stirling has to offer, set under the 'Wallace' monument, bordered by superb views.
The site is level, with hard standing (gravel) & has clear defined pitch borders. There is a large tent field, & a good dog walk through the nearby woods.
Our stay there spread over a weekend & it soon became full & felt 'busy' expect that during peak season. There is a quality Shower & toilet facility block with wash-ups but from where we were located felt too far away, the season caravan pitches seem to be located more adjacent to the block. Motor Home 'dump' & chemical disposal area of European standards.
All TV reception is good here.
Would return when in the area but would ask to be located near/in the 'car park' area.
Very friendly staff on arrival and gave us all the information we needed for our stay at the site and our visit into Stirling. We were given a bus timetable - 2 minute walk to the bus stop for Stirling. There is also a park and ride nearby but we didn't use, so can't comment.
The site is near a busy road but we were located in the area away from the road and honestly did not hear any traffic noise. Toilets and showers excellent and clean. Also had laundry and washing up facilities, but we didn't use these so can't comment.
Would we visit again? - absolutely.
The only downside for us (and this is a personal thing) there wasn't a pub within walking distance for a drink or two in the evening, but buses from Sterling ran into the night so not too big an issue.
PS - we don't have children so cannot comment on child friendliness but the play area looked OK!
This was our first trip out this year and luckily we picked a scorcher! On arrival, our check in was very organised and welcoming. We were allocated a pitch towards the rear of the park which was ideal for us with a small child running around.
The site was very relaxing and quiet with lovely views, Even though there were plenty children, it never got too noisy or over-run as you sometimes feel in other sites. This is probably thanks to the nice big playpark which my little boy loved.
Toilet block was clean and never too busy which surprised me a little as the site was so full while we were there.
A nice site, seated at the base of the Ochil Hills. It is located on the side of the A91, a busy road that didn't quieten down very much. Something to bear in mind if you are looking for somewhere peaceful and tranquil to stay. If you were to be offered a pitch at the back of the site it might be quieter but then the children's playground is in the middle of that area and can itself be noisy.
A short walk and you can walk up and over the hills or follow the footpath along to find Logie Kirk which has a fascinating graveyard to wander around.
The facilities on the site are good, lots of hot water and roomy showers. The wardens were helpful and friendly. They were quite happy for us to stay longer on the site while we had a visit from family as long as we moved to the car parking area. However, instead we went to the National Wallace Monument. This is a very worthwhile place to visit. The car park is large and free, you can walk up to the top of the hill or get the courtesy bus. The views are spectacular over the Forth River. Stirling is just down the road so this is a very good place to stay for touring this area. For me, the road noise was an issue, I prefer a little less traffic! The site itself though is good and seems very popular. There is no shop but they do milk and newspapers.
Flat pitches with clean facilities (toilets, showers, laundry, washing up). The children's playpark is in a central position, great for keeping an eye on them. There are walks along the Ochils at the back. Staff are very friendly and helpful. It is well situated for nearby attractions at Stirling. Cracking night time view of The Wallace Monument. Park is well maintained. Very little noise. Would definitely return.
The site is well located for Stirling and other areas of historical interest.
The site was fairly quiet with a lot of spare pitches during our stay. We were on a hardstanding pitch which was large enough for the caravan, awning and car. Each pitch was separated by low level chain link fence, so I don't understand why there was an extra charge to have an awning. I mean, its not as if we were taking up more room as each pitch is a set size. However, this is my only gripe about this site.
The owners made us feel very welcome and appeared keen to ensure that we enjoyed our time on their site. The whole site is very well maintained and the facilities are immaculate. The showers were piping hot and there was plenty of water. There is no extra charge for using the showers. The pot wash area was clean and tidy, as was the chemical disposal area and laundry area.
Our children enjoyed the play area, making a few friends while they were there.
While we were there we took the children to Blair Drummond Safari Park, which was a good day out. We also visited the town of Stirling, which is a very interesting place.
Overall, this is not the cheapest site to stay on but it is very well maintained and we would stay there again.
We decided to go away this weekend, close enough to home that we were not taking time up travelling, but in a location that made us feel a million miles away.
After some research, we settled on Witches Craig in Blairlogie.
The phone call to book a pitch went very smoothly and I was told that if the site was not too busy, and the pitch I had been allocated was not needed, I could check out as late as I wanted on the Sunday.
Check in time is up to eight at night, which is excellent for people going away after work on a Friday for the weekend.
We found the site easily, and went to check in.
The staff on were very friendly and very helpful.
I paid the £5 refundable deposit for the toilet key, and was given a map to direct me to my pitch.
The site was very well maintained, with tents on the grass area near the dog walk entrance, and the other units, caravans, motorhomes, trailer tents, were all on the hardstanding or chucky stone areas.
The kids, 8 and 3, had a great time playing in the park, and at the tree swing just inside the gated area leading to the dog walk.
They were given plenty of freedom, as the site is not too big, and very safe.
From our pitch we could see the park and the tree swing, but I was confident to let them roam, and this is saying something as I am a proud neurotic mother!
The site toilet block was spotless and well appointed, it was a nice added touch that music played in the toilets, for all those shower singers!
The female toilets are cleaned between the hours of 11 am and 12, the gents, 12 to 1.
The chemical waste building is set away from the main block, which I liked, and was very clean and had no smell, there was also a wash hand basin and antibacterial hand wash there for you to clean up after, which I though was very good.
The site is close to Menstrie, and Alva, both have a smattering of shops, and takeaways.
The shop on the site is only there for juice and ordering rolls and papers for the mornings.
I like this as the kids were not always in there spending.
The ice cream van came round on the Saturday, so things could be bought there for those with a sweet tooth.
I would definitely send people to this site, it is great for families, and those who enjoy walking, being set at the foot of The Ochils, there are plenty of walks to go on, from flat to up the height to the top!
This site has taken the place of our weekend retreat, and if you live near by it is a must.
You will not find a friendly bunch than those at Witches Craig.
A really pretty friendly site set in beautiful scenery. The site was spotlessly clean very well kept and looking after. The showers and toilets were clean and tidy, (no charge for the shower), good dish washing and laundry facilities. Set close to Stirling itself with loads to do near by, Stirling castle etc, we were lucky enough to stay there when the pipe band competition was on so were woken every morning to the sound of the pipes. ( my idea of heaven ) there is no shop on site, which is the only thing I could suggest to improve it really. The staff were pleasant and friendly. And yes I would go back, we really enjoyed our stay there.
We stayed at this site last weekend at a friends recommendation. The site is easy to find, has a welcoming and helpful reception, a great children's play area and hot showers and clean toilets.
The setting is idyllic, beautiful views of the ochils and the wallace monument, there is a great wee farm cafe within walking distance, which does great soup.
The only downside of this site was it's proximity to the main road, it was noisy walking along the main road and we could hear the traffic during the night.
There is a couple of area's you can pitch your tent.
One is next to the play area (close to the amenities) with stunning views of the Ochill Hills and the other is at the back of the site near the woods.
The latter has under cover sitting area's. It is around a couple of minutes walk to the amenities.
There is also hook ups for tents.
The toilets are 5* Clean and warm, plenty of hot water with piped music. There is an covered area for washing the dishes in the same amenity block.
The rubbish bins are kept in a enclosed area.
You can get papers and rolls at the reception.
You need a £5 deposit for the amenity key (refundable)
The overall lay out of the site is great and well laid out.If you had kids with you the play are is great. It is enclosed by a fence and is in the centre of the site.
You can see the Wallace Monument from the site with Stirling being 3 miles away one way and and Menstrie 2 miles the other. There is walks in the woods.
Lovely friendly campsite in a very picturesque location. The staff were friendly and welcoming when we arrived and gave us directions to our pitch, which was fairly central on the site which was fine but the staff informed us this is usually used mainly for families.
The playground looked well equipped, although we didn't have any 'little people' with us to test this out. Facilities in general where good although there was only one shower / toilet block for the entire site of 60 pitches.
Plenty of shops nearby for stocking up on supplies. Overall a nice campsite ideal for a couple of nights but I wouldn't use it for longer as I found it a bit close to the road which made it a bit noisy at night.
Really good location for access to Stirling and walking and mountain biking trails. A Short walk to Wallace monument which the site nests under. We had a week of bagpipe music coming over the wind from a practising band which was taking part in the Bridge of Allan games. If you are pitching on the hardstanding pitches you will need hardstanding pegs which we had to go out and buy, as we weren't getting anywhere with normal pegs. It was like concrete.
The toilet block is located right at the entrance so it is a bit of a trek for anyone else in the park who isn't pitched there. The block also shuts at 11-12 for the ladies and 12-1 for the men. This is inconvenient when check out time is 1pm, as everyone is trying to use them at the same time. Not too bad in a caravan but there is no where else to go in your are in a tent.
Great access to a dog walk in the forest. No on site shop but you a 2 mins drive from a huge Morrisons supermarket and retail park so getting supplies is no problem.
The site was a good basic base to use for sightsighting in the surrounding area. The tent field is very exposed to wind, except on the curtilage, which we found people had exploited, taking up much more room than needed and leaving large spaces in between pitches. A wind break from the adjoining field would be a good improvement.
The showers were adequete, although if there was a 'family' shower in the Ladies it would save a lot of Waiting time
We did the sight seeing we had planned throughout the area.
There is nothing 'local' within walking distance so we found the evenings a little boring on site, because the weather wasn't good
