 Nice well kept and clean site with good facilities. The wardens were very welcoming and hard working a asset to the site. Great location at the foot of the south downs with easy access to brighton and london via train a short walk away. Hope to visit again soon.

We had a great time at Southdown Way Park.
The Daughter & Dad team were fantastic, from booking, arriving & toleaving, they even looked after Marley our silly labrador whilst at a bbq at the Jack & Jill
Facilities were 2nd to none, clean & tidy.
We wouldn't hesitate to come back again and would really recommend it to family and friends.
Thanks for a lovely stay, we will be back.

Lovely peaceful basic site. Very spacious. On both visits to this site (both in July) we booked last minute and were still able to be accommodated on a full service hard standing pitch.
The staff are very friendly and very accommodating.
The dogs had a wonderful time and were allowed to run free on the big field.
The toilets and shower block were always pristine.
The gardens were neat and tidy.
Train station and shops a 20 minute walk away so no need to take car into brighton

We hadn't been camping for over a decade so were anxious. The owner had communicated with us prior to arrival so we were prepared. All the amenities were clean and well above expectations, the vibe of the camp was very welcoming & peaceful. Our 2 black labs had the run of the lower field which they loved! Both camp wardens were friendly, very helpful & had lovely dogs for ours to play with. This campsite caters to all & we are very much looking forward to returning in 2014!

What a wonderful Site, The wardens were very friendly and helpful but not over powering. Easy access even for our large ARV Motorhome.
Toilet facilities & Shower blocks were pristine!
Easy walking into local Villages and pubs. And the bonus is you can walk to Railway Station in about 20 mins. And purchase return ticket into Brighton for under a fiver.
Well worth a visit as site is under used. Will be back soon. Very satisfied campers.

Just spent my camping holiday as Southdown way caravan park is a great campsite. Nice big pitches with plenty of space to relax and enjoy yourself. Beautiful views of the southdown way. Toilet block is lovely with plenty of showers and toilets. The whole park is very well maintained throughout. I would recommend to anyone wanting to visit the area. Nice walks and only a 10 min walk from the train station.

Lovely site! Clean and tidy. Wardens are absolutely delightful and very helpful and accommodating. Site filled with quiet, respectful campers. Toilet block modern and very clean. Lovely open fields with lots of birds. Hard Pitches are very generous in size with electric, water and waste points. We have visited 3 times this summer so far and will return again. Close to Brighton but far enough away to feel you are way out in the country.

We have just had a fantastic holiday on this site. The Wardens, Anna and Colin, couldn't have been more helpful.
The toilets and shower facilities were very good and kept clean.
The site is a great location for exploring the South Downs, with good walks available from the site or within a short drive.
Good shops available in the village and the railway station makes travel into Brighton or London easy.
Many good local pubs serving good food, including The Greyhound and Jack & Jill.
Would recommend this site without and doubts.
See you next year!

We visited this site with our friends, also in a motorhome and were accommodated next to each other in a lovely spot with fantastic views of the South Downs. Just a short walk to the nearest shops and pub (the Greyhound)where they do nice food and you can take your dog in the pub or the pretty garden (Be aware there is a pub cat!). A small walk further and you reach the Thatched Inn, another food pub with garden.
The village of Hassocks is about 15 mins and has all the shops/banks/takeaways you need as well as a mainline station into London/Brighton.
The site facilities are very good and clean with several showers, toilets, washing up sinks and laundry. The owners are friendly and based on site.
I would recommend this for walkers and dog owners as there are walks into the countryside and south downs nearby and good if you like country pubs. The Chinese takeaway in Keymer village (10 mins walk) is also very good and reasonably priced.

This is our local site & we are regulars here. Tony & Carole (soon to be replaced) are lovely wardens & always on hand.
The site consists of hard standing pitches for caravan, pitches for EHU as well as a huge field that
You can take your pick to pitch in.
There are plenty of toilets & showers and also 3 outdoor sinks with hot water to wash up in.
Lovely views of the south down & windmills make this a very beautiful campsite.

Brilliant campsite. Can't wait to go again. Owners were lovely and very welcoming. They were kind enough to give us a fire late one night and would always see to any problems or queries we had. Toilet and shower facilities were always very clean and in good quantity.
However, although the campsite was beautiful it was always very quiet and never really became busy.
The town is very local and Tesco was a short 10minute drive from the site. All in all a very successful trip. We would definitely recommend this to a friend.

This site is a gem which, lucky for us, seems comparatively unknown - or at least not chosen - by the hoards of regular holiday makers in the Brighton area. All other sites were full when we phoned for a place but Southdown could accommodate us for the whole time with electric and hard-standing. We stayed for a full 2 weeks and I can say that every day was easy to fill with walking, cycling and generally exploring the area. We hardly took the car out and were even able to cycle to Brighton (take a big breath up Ditchling Beacon!) and Lewes! I must say that what made it extra special was the wardens, Tony and Carol who have selflessly given up 4 months of their lives to manage this site voluntarily for the SUSSEX LANTERN CHARITY that owns it. The toilet block was brand new and spotless every day - 6 good showers, loads of really hot water at washing up sinks. Tony spent a long while tending to the grass and hedges and Carol seemed to be always sweeping up the paths and cleaning the facilities. There's a lovely relaxed atmosphere here (obviously enhanced by the good weather we had!) which is probably why the majority of visitors who know about it do return. Often for a long weekend from London. I always say that I won't return to a site because I like to try new ones and it's never the same. This one might not be the same without these excellent wardens, Tony and Carol, - the next ones will have a lot to live up to - but I think we'll give it a try. The area is beautiful!

Good site near rail line to London, and Olympics (50) mins
Toilet blocks modern and with good hygiene
Whilst we were there they had four days of over 35mm of rain fall, per day of a morning and warm sunshine on late evening
The poor man who does the grass cutting is up against the perfect storm in terms of weeds and grass cutting, they had to hire in a light weight grass cutter to cut the grass but the weather is mad down there ask plumpton, racecourse,
They are cutting the weeds back on a weekly basis but they are growing back as fast as mother nature can do it,
A well run site up against the freak weather system we have been having

This could be a really lovely site, but at the moment it is let down by a few relatively minor things. Positive side: There are 8 flat, fully serviced hardstanding pitches which are a good size and well spaced. The adjacent grassy field is also flat and very large - not sure whether there are any electric hook-ups here.
The toilet block is modern and kept very clean. The wardens are pleasant and available as they live in a static on site.
Now the negatives things. On site maintenance seemed to have been neglected as there were weeds growing up through the hardstandings and thick banks of nettles and weeds at the edges of the site which made it all look a bit unkempt and uncared for. I know we have had a lot of rain, but the grass could have been cut and the weeds cut.
In the toilet block, there is nothing in the showers (other than 1 hook on the back of the door), so no shelf to put toiletries or, for instance, spectacles on. A small built in seat would have been helpful too.
Only 2 of the showers had a curtain, the others being open so clothes and shoes etc got wet from the shower. I had to try 4 shower cubicles - on one the lock was broken, on the 2nd no hooks at all, and the 3rd the shower was so angled as to completely soak the whole cubicle (no curtain). Small things that would make a big difference and are easy to rectify.
Given all of this, we thought the nightly charge of £22 was rather high.

Have just returned from Southdown Way, in our folding camper*[other!] and glad to say that it is fine, new shower block good hot & free showers, but no soap dispenser at washbasins. friendly helpful staff [one who gets sea sick in her caravan on a windy night!] not to many punters there as would be expected due to just re-opening, but sounds like the coming season is one they are looking forward to.
There are some photos near the reception area telling of the damage caused by travellers, total wipe out! so to have come back to this is great for them, it is now a work in progress site and would expect it to be very popular as it matures. We were on a hard stand but I would say that even as a minor thing the grass in the larger field could have done with a cut.
We will return here as it will suit us fine for visiting our son in Brighton, Also convenient for decent walks on the Southdown way trails, Jack and Jill windmills[view your own rig from here on a clear day! Bluebell railway and more, Our only down view was the traffic noise from Ditchling/Brighton road B2112 it is a fast and well used road
