We have just returned from a glorious five night stay at Polruan and yes the weather was fantastic which helped, but the site itself is lovely. We had a really restful and relaxed week.

There was a mix of couples and families there during our stay and with the few rules which are in place everyone respected each others space.

The owners are really friendly and helpful which seemed to rub off on nearly all their guests. The site is well run and always clean and tidy.

As the children on site are normally off with their parents exploring during the day the play area provided was more than adequate.

Would definitely recommend this site and hope to return in the near future.

Neither of us had been to Cornwall before and found this campsite purely by chance. Our initial plans were to stay on the south coast for 4 nights then move to the north coast for another 4. But having found this wonderful site we decided to base the entire holiday here.

If you're looking for peace, tranquillity and beautiful views look no further than Polruan Holiday camping and caravan site.

Both the site owners couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, the site was immaculate, very generous pitches, all the facilities you need. A big bonus being the use of a fridge.

Nothing was too much trouble, we met some lovely people who were also holidaying on the site and the weather was great too.

The site rules clearly state no noise after 10:30pm and this was always adhered to. A good nights sleep guaranteed.

Not able to comment on child friendliness as we were a couple staying on our own.

When we do return to Cornwall this will be our only site of choice. What more can you say.

As regular campers this is by far the loveliest site we have had the pleasure of staying on.

This our second camping adventure; the first being a local test run over a weekend earlier in the month. We thought we had just dropped lucky first time out, finding the facilities very high quality.

However, I am extremely please to report that Polruan Holidays site was equally as good. The showers, WC's, Chemical disposal point etc were all very well maintained and clean.

We pitched in the bottom field with an unforgettable view of the sea, which made made up for it being exposed to the elements during a very windy week.

The site has an excellent information centre, with just about everything you would ever need, including reasonably priced internet access (via fixed PC).

We could not recommend this site highly enough. It is extremely well by Kevin and his wife, who we found to be very helpful.

We have not scored on 'child friendliness' as we were on our own, however, the children on the site appeared very happy with the site, especially the play field.

We would certainly go back to this site again should we think of re-visiting this beautiful part of Cornwall.

We stayed for 3 Nights during whitsun bank holiday.

All the facilities are very clean and the campsite didn't feel crowded.

It was only a 10 minute walk down to the harbour, where there are 2 good pubs. Although it was a steep climb back it only took about 20 minutes.

Ideally situated for anyone wishing to walk the coastal path and for anybody visited Fowey, as the small passenger ferry ran from in the morning until late evening.

We were made feel welcome and were always happy to help with any problems and would definitely visit again

I had a great week at this site. It's extremely tidy and well maintained. The loos and showers are immaculate. The shop is well stocked. The owners very welcoming. The site is relatively small, and has a policy of encouraging peace and quiet, which suited me fine.

My pitch gave me a sea view from my campervan bed. Despite the fact the site is sloping gently down towards the sea, pitches seemed to be level. I had no problem anyway.

Polruan is a picturesque but unspoilt Cornish port - a rarity. That's partly because there's just one road to the site and village, and that's largely single track for about 5 miles. So bigger motorhomes are probably inappropriate. There are 2 harbourside pubs 10 minutes walk away from the site - both fine and serving well priced dinners.

The hill from the site down to the port is steep but offers spectacular views as a reward. Once down at the port there's a ferry across to Fowey every 15 mins. Bikes and pushchairs can be carried. The vehicle ferry goes from nearby Bodinick.

The Cornish coastal path 2 minutes from the campsite. One provides an alternative to using the road to reach the village. The other leads to Lantic beach - a secluded bay and thence on to Polperro, Looe etc.

In general there's plenty of scope for walks and mountain biking (if you can cope with hills. There is a play area with a swing for kids. I will be using this site again for sure.

I guess the weather helped our stay but what really made it better was the friendliness of the people who own it, Kevin and Trudy and their 2 boys.

I was impressed by the cleanliness of the whole site and all in all I would give it a 10 star rating.

Polruan is charming and Fowey is lovely as well. The walks are fantastic and the views breathtaking.

Well worth a visit and I hope to return again soon.

This campsite is a credit to kevin, trudy and their sons. My wife and I enjoyed our stay cation of 5 days with them and would have liked to have stayed longer- next time for definite.

The site is maintained in tip top condition, clean and pleasantly relaxing. So many eating establishments in polruan and fowey and all of a good standard make for superb nights out followed by good long brisk scenic walks the next day to recover add to the enjoyment of staying here.

We will be back.

We stayed at Polruan for 7 nights over the August bank holiday and were very impressed with the site. Kevin and Trudy the owners were very friendly and always on hand if you needed anything.

The on-site shop was well stocked and a fresh fruit/veg van visited the site every other morning. Even though we stayed over a bank holiday the site never felt busy and was always quiet in the evenings, the separate playground area on the lower field also meant that there were no kids running all over the place. The pitch sizes are generous so you didn't feel crowded or over-looked.

The toilets/showers were kept clean and tidy, however if you're scared of spiders (as I am!) then showering could be a bit daunting! The timers didn't cause us any issues, both me and my partner always found we had plenty of time and hot water.

Despite only having one road to the site, we found Polruan was the perfect base for our holiday. We would also highly recommend using the car ferry if you are venturing further south - it's 3 each way but saves you a vast amount of time. As others have mentioned, the walk back up the hill from the village is quite strenuous but you do get used to it! Fowey was a lovely town and we visited several times using the passenger ferry. Can highly recommend the Hall Walk, we also walked several stretches of the coastal path which can be accessed from directly outside the campsite. We also visited Mevagissey by car, but with hindsight wished we had taken the ferry from Fowey.

We didn't get to try the pubs in Polruan village, however can highly recommend the Old Ferry Inn at Bodinnick, great atmosphere and great food.

All in all a fabulous holiday, would definitely consider going back and would recommend it to all.

Wow this must be one of the TOP camping sites out there! Absolutely nothing to fault. Every little thing has been thought of and provided.

The pitches are generous, flat and gorgeously green. There are only 26 of them, so there will always be peace and quiet. The views are AMAZING!

All facilities are maintained to a very very high standard. The lawns are mowed regularly and there are pretty flowers everywhere. The bathrooms are impeccable - not even a hint of that smell you get at most camping sites. Nice warm water. The toilets flush like a dream. The washing up area is spacious and practical. There are laundry facilities should you need them, as well as a microwave and hot drink vending machine - all hidden in one room, so you can ignore the 'anachronisms' if you like. The shop is well-stocked, and I was surprised to find many items with RRPs printed on them and being sold at the RRP. They could quite easily charge double, as there are only 1 or 2 shops in town - and that's way down the hill, and back up again, but they are totally not greedy. Ice pack freezing and mobile charging facilities are offered in return for donations to worthy charities. Books, etc. Are available on loan. The internet/phone room is very well stocked with brochures and information about the area (But you would have been orientated when you checked in!). Like I said, absolutely everything has been thought of.

O and a veggie man visits every other day selling fresh fruit and vegetables, juice, yogurt, etc. And you can have any newspaper if you ask at the shop!

A friendly, pretty, generous place to visit. And the location is just perfect - on top of the hill with awesome views, and a quick walk down-hill to the quaint and well-looked after old town of Polruan. Lots of beautiful walks from here; they provide you with information when you check in.

We will definitely return.

This really is a peaceful site, we had hoped for such and were very pleased to find this was the case. The site was spotlessly clean and well maintained and we had a wonderful sea view from our pitch.

We had a friendly welcome from Kevin who went out of his way to help us.

Toilet block was small but had no problem getting to shower. Clean and well maintained. There is an information room with a computer, books and leaflets, inc bus timetables. There was also a laundry room with a fridge and coffee maker.

There was a veg man who came on odd days which was great for fresh produce.

This is a great site if you like walking, with the coastal path minutes away. The road is steep down to Polruan but should be no problem if you are reasonably fit.

We preferred the Lugger Inn but both pubs are goot. Had great fish and chips in the Lugger. There is also a cafe but we didn't use it.

The ferry over to Fowey is frequent and we used it nearly every day. There are lots of nice shops and good pubs there, plus lovely coast walking.

Try not to miss the Headland Garden in Polruan, only open in Summer on a Thursday but well worth a visit. They do a cream tea too!

Overall we had a wonderful holiday at this campsite and can't recommend it highly enough.
