A rather upmarket site - reflected in the range of produce in the on site shop and in the prices!

Staff were super friendly and helpful. Washrooms very spacious and very clean with underfloor heating. Could have had more hooks in the showers.

Pitches were well laid out, but there is not much to look at sitting outside the van - just other vans and the internal roads.

The site is surrounded by woodlands with sone attractive walks.

It is a long walk down the driveway to the bus stop, its a big site, mostly given over to static homes.

They are very attractively laid out.

We stayed here in our own caravan over the weekend of 16th May. With my wife Son and his girlfriend with three dogs in tow.

We checked in and got a map and got to choose our own pitch in a certain area, which was a bonus as there were quite rowdy groups further up from where we chose our pitch.

There’s walks all around the site in wooded areas. There’s a code for the toilets and shower and a Barrier as you enter the site. Toilets and showers clean always with hot water, there were queues in the morning for the toilet cubicles.

The weather was amazing for the Lake District as we have been to other sites and the weather has spoiled the weekend. We travelled to Buttermere and walked around it.

We passed through Ambleside on the way in and out, didn’t stop but looked a thriving town with shops restaurants and pubs.

We are around 1. 5 hrs away so we will certainly return during the summer or Autumn. Overall brilliant place!

 Lovely site with great facilities.

The shower and toilet facilities were extremely well looked after - heated floors made a wonderful addition!

Staff were very friendly and welcoming, giving advice on walking and cafes nearby.

Picking your own pitch was a nice touch and all the sites were spacious and easy to manoeuvre a caravan into and out of.

Despite being a large site with many static vans none of this was noticeable in the well managed and looked after grounds.

Large park which was difficult to access with a motorhome, looked promised on long driveway until you get to reception where you have check on which is littered with songs NO PARKING AT RECEPTION! Which would be find of the actually bothered provide alternative parking.

The site itself was busy and appeared well kept but in all honestly it’s just miles of concrete and granite chipping sit felt like staying in a car park.

Not the most friendly of places and no atmosphere

I would definitely never stay there again very disappointing

Skelwith is a lovely site nestled in the hills near Ambleside.

It was very quiet despite the number of static vans on site.

The touring areas are spread across the site and you can choose the area which suits your requirements.

We will definitely be back hopefully soon!

Beautiful setting, peaceful with immaculate and warm facilities, lovely friendly staff, a drying room, lovely shop and a bus stop outside.

But the touring pitches area were edge-to-road grey chippings, no grass anywhere, even on the premium pitches. Also external TV aerial points were only provided for premium pitches.

The range of recycling bins were not available at every disposal point.

Unlikely to return because it was no pleasure to sit outside and look at grey chippings and a large electricity box.

A very nice site, spotlessly clean and tidy, situated within the beautiful woodlands and close to several lakes.

The only negative thing I have to say, is that the hard standing for the awning/tent was so hard that many of my heavy duty pegs bent and the heavy duty mallet I was using also broke.

The ground is virtually impenetrable! It was explained to me by one of the wardens, that the site is constructed to avoid flooding.

I can understand this, and I’m sure the construction does overcome this issue, but nevertheless, a little note about bringing a stronger mallet (ie 2Ib club hammer would be advised) and some rock pegs) would have been really helpful.

I’m sure the other people that I also saw struggling would have the same view regarding this point.

Thereafter, it’s a lovely site.
