I stayed here as most do whilst climbing nevis. Campsite is well organised, pitches are good as are the services.
We had a choice of pitch. There was plenty of loos and water stations. Only downside was campsite did get quite busy but I guess is to be expected given the location.
Location was perfect within half a mile of nevis and near plenty of other walks also. I would stay here again and recommend it.
On arrival glen nevis looked a clean site very large and busy. First thing my kids noticed was a burger van outside reception which was a big hit.
The staff at reception were very helpful and our pitch was pointed out to us on the map which was easy to find in such a big site. Our pitch has our own water and drainage.
The site lays at the foot of ben nevis the scenery is to die for there are walks in every direction great for the dogs. Although the site probably has about 150 pitches set in different areas it is still very quiet at night not what you would expect from a big site.
The toilet block is one of the cleanest I've came across. The laundry is very clean with plenty of machines so there's never a queue.
Your only 5 minute drive from fort william which has every shop you will need.
The only thing we found a bit poor was the play park was a poor effort and for a site this big I would have expected a bigger play area but if that's the only down fall there doing something right
We will definitely go again time and time again its the kind of site you wouldn't get bored visiting
We stayed here for 2 nights principally to go up Ben Nevis.
We rang the site when we were in the area to see if there was a pitch available and we were advised to just turn up as they weren't full which we did.
This site is very well organised, the woman who registered us was very helpful told us all we needed to know about the site and gave us a few choices of where to pitch leaving the final choice down to us.
Found a great pitch with superb views of Ben Nevis and near but not too near the facilities block. (We were spoiled for choice really, all the pitches had nice views and were well spaced out).
The facilities are excellent loos and showers very clean, plentifull hot water, never had to queue for a shower. (All the showers had a squeegee mop hanging up so you could mop down for the next person which I thought was a good idea). Good pot washing facilities.
Used the laundry - again great facility.
Shop was well stocked.
A short walk from the site to the start of the climb up Ben Nevis, this was particularly appreciated on the return journey!
(The day we went up Ben Nevis the weather was evil! We were dressed for it but we came across quite a few who weren't, including a lad in pristine white plimsolls - well I think they were pristine when he started! I mention this because a few yards infront of us a guy slipped and broke his leg and we had to hang back while he was rescued by helicopter, the next day we saw another helicopter rescuing another unfortunate. I don't know the exact cause of their falls but we saw plenty of people equipped for a walk in the park and no more!)
This is a fabulous campsite the facilities are excellent and all the staff we came into contact with were friendly and helpful. At £23 a night we thought we got value for money.
There is a hot food van on site as well, we didn't use it but it looked good.
On the way to our next stop we stopped in Fort William to stock up on provisions - Morrisons has a separate car park for motorhomes and caravans - very useful!
A small group of us camped two nights at Glen Nevis in June. We chose the site because it was perfectly situated for our walk up Ben Nevis. The site is just over two miles from Fort William on a minor road and has very easy access for caravans and motorhomes.
As we arrived, our first impression was that he site appeared very well run and immaculately maintained. We found the staff, both in reception and out on the fields, very welcoming, friendly and helpful.
Glen Nevis is a fairly large site with several fields for tents and other fields reserved for caravans and motorhomes. There are extensive surfaced roadways and campers can park next to their pitches.
The site is mostly level although some areas slope gently. The ground is good and takes tent pegs well. There are plenty of trees on and around the site so it is reasonably sheltered from the wind.
The facilities blocks are among the best I have come across - modern, well appointed, spacious and spotlessly clean. There are more than enough showers and loos for the number of campers the site holds, a very clean and roomy dishwashing 'scullery', a laundry, and lots of nice touches like hairdriers and large mirrors. I rate the facilities ten out of ten.
The campsite shop is well-stocked (if a trifle expensive) and it also sells cigarettes and tobacco. A bar/restaurant is nearby. There's also an on-site mobile snack bar which serves cooked breakfasts in the morning and light meals in the early evening.
As other reviewers mention, the site has a noise curfew at 11pm. During our first night the site was indeed very quiet but on the second night many youngsters had arrived for a nearby mountain bike 'world championship' event and there was loud conversation late into the night.
We also found the midges a real nuisance but that, of course, is beyond the campsite's control.
Midges and mountain bikers aside, I think this campsite is really first rate. It provides an ideal base for exploring the Lochaber area and for walking up Ben Nevis. I recommend it highly.
Just spent 4 great nights on this lovely site in beautiful scenery.
Clean showers, toilets and launderette, regular emptying of rubbish bins
warden on site kept the noisy campers sorted by politely telling them to be quiet in the early hours or they would be asked to pack up.
Short drive into Fort William and in easy reach of Glencoe and Loch Ness.
Will definitely be returning here. Very reasonably priced as well even for a busy weekend when 18, 000+ descend on Fort William for the UCI Downhill World Cup Mountain Biking.
This was our 2nd visit to this campsite in 4 weeks, the first time to do a bit of munro bagging by ourselves and the second time with our 3 boys for 3 nights (which turned into 4).
We had the same EHU pitch both times which was fantastic, very clean, well kept site, free showers & hairdryers, toilets & showers (with turn on and off TAPS, not push buttons) very clean, dishwashing area very clean.
We went to the pub the first time we stayed for a couple of drinks outside in the sunshine but didn't eat in the restaurant, although it was very busy & had a decent menu. We were very lucky with the weather both times we stayed, the sun shone (although it snowed on the mountains).
We ended up having to stay an extra night due to one of our boys falling and breaking his arm, the lovely lady at the reception couldn't have been more helpful, sorting us out so that we could stay another night on the same pitch. A lovely lady, nothing is too much trouble.
A very well stocked shop, although Fort William is only a 5 minute drive away. Wonderful views & walks, or just a great place to let the kids play(playpark & quiet roads within campsite) and the grown-ups relax. Midges were quite annoying so make sure to take the 'skin so soft' and midge headnets (although the shop does sell these in a variety of colours).
Overall a wonderful campsite, certainly the cleanest and best kept I have stayed at, although it was very busy, as it is a large campsite it was not overcrowded and not noisy(apart from the woodpecker & cuckoo around 5am! We are booked to go back in August. Highly recommended campside 5*.
Stayed at this site for two nights on a tour of the highlands and what a great little site it is, staff are faultless and can not do enough for you,
The site itself is immaculate and very well kept with very spacious flat pitches, don't have to walk for for water, waste etc, ,
Best showers I have used on this tour as they are adjustable, not too hot or cold, ,
Only down side is that there is a ten pound admin fee included on any number of nights that you stay (should just be added to the price if you ask me), ,
There are some lovely walks along the opposite side of the river bank into fort william, ,
Take your binoculars for the wildlife and to watch the fools, sorry I mean the people trekking up be nevis, ,
We have stayed at the Glen Nevis Holiday Park on several occasions now, and have enjoyed each visit there.
Overall, this is a reasonably priced, large, but surprisingly quite campsite which is situated in a lovely part of Scotland, with beautiful scenery and tranquil surroundings, being over looked by Nevis Range.
When we arrived at reception, the lady was very friendly, helpful and provided us with a map of the site and directions to our reserved (at a cost of £10, in the form of a non-refundable deposit, during the time of booking) camping pitch, with EHU.
While some of the camping fields are not set out in order of pitches, the EHU pitches were individually numbered and were large enough for to cater up to very large tents, without being too close to your neighbours. The grounds throughout the campsite were tidy and very well maintained.
Facilities on this campsite are good, and despite it being a busy, but well spread out site, the facilities such as the scullery, toilets and showers (which were free – always an added bonus) were never overcrowded, with no need to queue, etc.
One criticism is that the areas around the washroom sinks, toilet cubicles and the scullery behind the Spruce Field could all benefit from more regular deep cleaning.
At reception, there is a reasonably well stocked shop, but the prices are above average and a trip into Fort William, which is only a couple of miles away, is worth a trip for food and other essentials.
There is also a restaurant and lounge bar on this campsite and although we have never dined here, the prices appear to be reasonable; although we did have a few drinks (again not overinflated prices) and sat outside in the sun. Again, the staff working here were very pleasant, helpful and hardworking.
We would highly recommend this campsite and will no doubt be returning at some point in the near future.
I agree with everything everyone else has said about this site - pretty, clean, spacious and very welcoming. Pub and restaurant are literally at the end of the site - we ate there twice, 1 meal was OK and the other really nice and I didn't think the price was too bad.
Great location for the Ben and a lovely little walk at the end of the Glen Rd - a half hour walk to a stunning waterfall.
Fort William has all the amenities you might want, including a Morrison's.
So, a lovely site and one I would be really happy to return to at some stage in the future
Just got back from a weekend walking around here, what a brilliant place. For 4 adults to stay for 2 night cost 38 quid, which was cheaper than a lot of other sites that I've been on.
The lady on reception was helpful and cheerful, pointing out on the map to the areas that we could stay.
The toilet block was the best I think I've ever been in, heated, clean and with free showers.
As mentioned by other reviews the midges come out in force in the evening which may be a problem, a good time to take a 20 minute walk to the Ben Nevis inn (uphill and unlight footpaths) which serves real ales and good food.
Apart from the stream running through the campsite I didn't see much for kids to do although it is a large enough site for them to run free and play together.
We stayed for 4 nights over Easter and had a great time. This is a wonderful site in a wonderful location. We wanted to climb 'The Ben' but the weather wasn't right for us. However there are plenty of other walks to do from the site, we did 2 separate and very different walks and they were great.
We had lunch at the site restaurant and the food and service were excellent.
The shop is well stocked and the staff very helpful, offering friendly advice on the local area.
The site is well maintained and well laid out with excellent views from the ample sized, well priced pitches.
We will definitely go back, not just to climb 'The Ben' but because of the welcome we were given and the facilities available.
What can I say. This was our third stop of our scotland tour.
The views were breath taking and the facilities was first class and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
The short walk to the pub is nothing, even for the laziest of us. I've been told by the other half that we are going to go again! the toilets and showers was in perfect condition and I loved the fact it had a motorhome service area. Makes the onboard tanks easy to fill.
Very nice campsite, facilities are fantastic. Showers lovely and hot and not timed buttons, taps, yippee! Really enjoyed radio 2 being played in the facilities area. Laundry very useful and not too pricey, enough machines. Lots of walking in the area and fort William not too far away. Lots of choice on pitches all flat and sheltered from wind, nice restaurant just next door to the site worth a visit. Would definitely visit again and priced right for the facilities, great not having to book and efficient service on arrival.
