 3 tents, me, the wife, 3 kids plus 2 dogs. Only stayed here two nights, climbing Ben nevis as part of our slow "3 peaks" challenge.
Campsite is great, well within walking distance of Fort William, and if your not up to it after doing "the Ben", pub with good food within staggering distance. Dog walking field, not that my 2 were up to much, toilets fine. Shop above average too, with good OS maps and guides.
Only thing which spoiled my time was a group of neds, obviously arriving from a 3 o clock finish in Fort William, carrying on the party until 0530. The whole site was rewarded, however, at 0730 in the morning, by the site of the warden and one helper pouring a bucket of water over their Barbecue and chucking them out! Well done!

I stayed here in September with my family , it is a very well maintained site for one so large,nice clean toilet blocks with free showers,a well stocked shop that was reasonably priced and a pub just off the edge of the park(i did not try the pub , but looked in and it seemed very nice).the best feature in my opinion ,was to look out of my window straight at the foothills of Ben Nevis.Fort William is within walking distance and is a quaint little town,i can recommend the haggis suppers at the local chippie .From here we went to skye via the mallaig ferry and back over the bridge at kyleakin, this is a trip everyone should take at least once ,the scenery is stunning and worth the mileage .this is a great site for touring the caledonian canal to Inverness or over to Aviemore . or back to the trossachs. All this from a clean well lit site with friendly staff, what more could i want, maybe move it a bit closer to Oxford

My friend and I stayed at this campsite during the first week of the summer holidays to do some walking in the Lochaber region. On the whole we were both extremely impressed by the site and would probably say that it has the best facilities of any campsite we have stayed on.
The location of the campsite is ideal for those who enjoy walking, being at the foot of Ben Nevis and surrounded by other interesting hills to explore. The campsite is a fair distance away from Fort William which, for a town that markets itself as being the 'Outdoor Capital of the UK', was a bit of a let down to be honest. There is a Morrisons, a Tesco Metro, McDonalds, Brewer's Fayre type pub/restaurant and plenty of pubs in the town, but the place felt distinctly run down in our opinion. There were a few outdoor shops scattered around and prices varied considerably in them so I would suggest you shop around before buying anything.
The site itself was well laid out and even though it was busy for the whole week it never felt particularly crowded. There were plenty of facilities to go around, although there was a bit of a wait for a shower at peak times in the morning. The site had a well stocked shop which sold food, alcohol and camping gear and there was plenty of information about the local area available in the reception next door. There was a burger van on site that opened for breakfast at 8.00am and also sold snacks in the evening. We felt it was probably too far to walk into Fort William in the evening so we went to the site's own bar and restaurant, which was a short walk away. The food served there seemed quite appealing but was a little on the expensive side. The bar stopped serving at 10.45pm, which encouraged people to return to the site at a reasonable time and the 'no noise after 11.00pm' rule seemed fairly well inforced, with the gates to the site being shut to cars at 11.00pm also.
One of the few faults we could pick with the site were the number of midges, which were mainly a problem in the morning and early evening. My friend came home absolutely covered in midge bites, so I would advise long trousers and sleeves at these times of the day. The bins were emptied frequently during our stay but there were a number of times when the bin truck was left parked close to tents for quite long periods of time and absolutely stunk the place out. A number of pitches were particularly close to what seemed to be a water treatment facility which made a loud humming noise constantly and would certainly have driven me mad if we had pitched near to it.
It would be possible to start a walk to the top of Ben Nevis from the campsite itself, although my friend and I chose to walk up it a via a more challenging route along the Carn Mor Dearg arete, after parking near the golf course in Fort William. On other days we parked further along Glen Nevis and walked around the Ring of Steall and up Stob Ban. We also had a drive out to Glen Coe and walked along Buachaille Etive Mor. When we were not walking we took a boat ride along Loch Linnhe and a cable car up Aonach Mor, where there is an excellent downhill mountain bike course.
In conclusion we would highly recommend this site because of its excellent facilities and peaceful location.

We travelled around Scotland for a week and stayed at Glen Nevis for two nights. It was by far the best site we stayed on. The facilities were excellent, clean and spacious showers and toilets and well heated. Hair dryers were also available free of charge. There was plenty of room to have our own private area and we were able to choose which field we wanted to stay on. The no noise after 11pm is excellent as you don't have to worry about other people keeping you awake and after a long day you know you will get a good nights sleep. The staff were friendly, especially in the on site restaurant. We had a three course meal for two with drinks and it cost just under £50, a really lovely finish to the day. There is a well stocked shop on site as well and a hot food van selling breakfasts and snacks. The views are amazing even in the rain. I would definitely recommend this site and we look forward to visiting it again. It is a good base for walkers of all levels and £12 a night is not a bad price for the quality of the facilities available to use. There are also laundry facilities, with the tumble dryer costing £1.20.

We returned here in august 2006 because we also stayed here in 2001. What a change! We found the site to be of the same high standards of facilities but with a whopping price tag to go with it. We paid nearly 15 pounds a night for a 2 man tent which we found really expensive, and it takes advantage of its spectacular position near Ben Nevis.
The shop was also really expensive, with prices a good 50p or more expensive than you would pay in a 'normal' shop.
All in all, a really lovely campsite, just a shame that the owners care so much about making loads of money.

A group of us stayed here for several days during our tour of Scotland. Firstly I have to say that this sight is in a perfect location at the base of Ben Nevis. All the pitches and facilities are very well maintained. There are several showers blocks all had plentiful hot water and we never had to queue. The launderette was also excellent.
There is a van on site selling breakfast and evening meals. The food here was really tasty. There is a pub/ restaurant on the edge of the site and although the foods sounded lovely we didn't go there as it was quite expensive.
We had booked some months ahead and when we arrived at reception they had made an error with our booking and they were not even apologetic. This was irritating. We found the receptionist unhelpful during our stay. On arrival there was a really long queue and this was annoying as some people waiting had to stand in the pouring rain. It was quite an expensive site.
There were several units in our group and we ended up being in separate fields as we were a mix of caravans, motorhomes, tents some with EHU and some not. The different areas were some distance away from each other. They also told us that we could not have a pup tent next to the caravan so the girls ended up in another field not near anyone. We did accept this but when we were on our pitch there were several pups tents next to the caravans.
I feel that this site is geared for people who like to be up early and go to bed early. By 7.30am in the morning they are mowing the grass (usually right outside our van!), emptying bins and on one occasion cutting down a tree! Not good if you want a lay in. There is also an absolute silence rule after 11pm and if you are talking the warden will visit you (oops) and then come back to check.
However this is a very well maintained and popular sight in a most beautiful location.

This is probably the best campsite in the uk. The views are spectacular, the layout of the site is great, there is loads of space between you all, the showers and toilets are free and very clean and tidy. A must place to stop if you are in the highlands

Visited this site often and love it. We always have the intention to go to the pub for a pint at night but find that sitting in front of caravan, glass of wine in hand, watching the walkers come down from Ben Nevis entertains us for hours! Clean, spacious and plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. Regarding previous post - there is a very good walk where the dogs can be off-lead - turn left from campsite and a few hundred yards on there is a path that leads to the left and takes you up onto a path that leads to a very good walk with great views, sheep free, eventually taking you up a small hill - about 1+ hours walk.

Great site that be commended for the strict enforcement of the 11pm rule of no noise. Facilities were cleaned twice a day and on site shop sold everything you need. Had a lovely international flavour to it. Excellent for convenient ascents of Ben Nevis.if you've brought your walking gear!

Great site in an absolutely stunning location at the foot of Ben Nevis. Plenty of space and choice of pitch even in August. Facilities excellent and never felt over busy. The site is well patrolled after 11pm to ensure there is no late night noise, staff are friendly and efficient. Overall an excellent site and wouldn't hesitate to return.

This is a fantastic site with great facilities which were always clean and we never had to queue for showers as there were plenty available. The views of Ben Nevis are truly outstanding and this is a great base for exploring the highlands. Food van on site provides a good selection of meals at reasonable prices if you don't feel like cooking.
We would recommend this site to everyone. Can't wait to go back!

Perfect site, very clean. There were laundry baskets for every washing machine, lovely Scottish music in the toilet buildings in the morning to get you into the mood, even pictures and flowers in the toilet buildings. Perfect, roomy showers with two hooks each. Free blowdryers. Nice shop and take-away. I would recommend this site to every one; and the midges, well, that's not their fault.

Excellent family site. Facilities are great and the service you get is second to none. The site is large and split into sections. Set at the base of Ben Nevis but very flat for your tents and caravans.
Clean and well run site, perfect for walking, cycling, mountain climbing and just switching off.
Play area for children and no-one complains about children running around and playing. Security guards patrolling all night which made us feel safe.
A mobile catering unit is open morning and evening serving breakfast and evening meals, simple dishes fish/chips or haggis/chips and jacket potatoes. Simple but tasty and convenient when you have arrived and just pitched tent.
A lovely and welcoming site and one I would recommend for families.

We pre-booked our stay here and went in to the reserved area it seemed that all the units in this area were squashed on top of each other whilst most of the rest of the campsite was empty. There is a play park for the children although the site is so big you had to keep a close eye on the little ones. The good thing here was that motor homes could just pull up to the motor home point and it didn't matter which way you were facing you could empty the waste with ease and fill up with drinking water with ease. The site is clean and quiet even though it was busy and the strict rules are enforced i.e. quiet after 10pm - 8am. Wardens drive around periodically and check. The bins are emptied twice each day and although the toilets and showers were basic and in separate blocks they were always clean.
There are a few walks directly off site but you have to go along a busy road and I couldn't find anywhere were the dogs could have a good run off their leads. A restaurant is nearby as is a static campsite and a youth hostel all owned by the same company. The town isn't too far by car and of course the views are to die for.

Typical international site and quite busy, yet still all the facilities were kept clean, and were quite good considering the volume of users. Would recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to base camp whilst touring scotland on a daily basis. Fort william has lots to other and is in easy reach of people with no walking difficulties. Absolutely beautiful views from within the sight of the glen. Mostly obscured by low lying cloud/mist while we were there tho'! Loved it
