 Our second visit to the site and another wonderful week there. Toilets are immaculate and the site is perfect for families with children. A little gem in Sussex close to all the major attractions.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Can highly recommend the cafe on site for good food well priced and they even deliver to your tent!
The pitches are very large and level, with good drainage. The circular access road perfect for the children to make friends and use their scooters/bikes still in eye shot. Very family friendly and would highly recommend.

Looking at the thoroughly positive reviews on here I'm wondering if perhaps we weren't magically transported to a totally different site.
The toilet block was clean even if the showers were a little cold. The staff were friendly, they really were and the facilities were good, there is a play area and shop. There were the usual amenities, hook up, water, rubbish bins etc. BUT unfortunately I did not enjoy my stay here at all.
As a parent, I do think it's lovely to have kids about, especially for my five year old to play with, but this was something else. There were hoards and hoards of them, super noisy and unfortunately as the road around the site is circular all we saw for three days was a never ending stream of scooters going round and round and round. Most of the campers near us were loud and fairly unpleasant.
I know the site owners can't be held responsible for other people's attitudes but having to skirt around groups of ten year olds swearing and screaming was not what I had in mind for a nice little holiday.
The local town wasn't particularly inviting though if you go out to Eastbourne it's nice. We did nothing more than visit the local areas and we ate out or in the motothome so I can't comment on the cafe/bar at the site. It did look nice though.
Overall I just didn't like the vibe of this place and I'm generally a positive reviewer of most places I visit.
I am giving this a six out of ten. I really think people should know that if they are looking for a quiet and peaceful, perhaps more adult focused site, this is not it. I am also a tent owner but just feel that the number of tent pitches on site means that there are too many families rather than couples and this lack of a mixture means a very rowdy and noisy site overall, at least on the occasion we visited.
I hope that if anything can be taken from this review as constructive criticism it can be to perhaps limit scooter riding, I know that makes me sound old and moany but my god it was annoying!

What a wonderful campsite! Loads of space, huge pitches, really friendly staff. Toilet/shower block excellent, clean and every eventuality covered and plenty of availability - didn't queue for a shower once! Washing up facilities excellent; great play park area for children, all very secure and no anxiety about children playing in there on their own. Really super to have 'bonus' of indoor games room with table tennis, pool, snooker and table football, as well as big field area for playing. Great to have curfew in place from 11 pm till 7. 30 am to be 'family friendly' at night. Our only concern during our stay was the number of unsupervised children using the circular access road round the site as a bike/scooter circuit with little/no awareness at all of traffic driving round. 5 mph speed limit for cars reduces any serious risks, but some of the children were VERY young and oblivious to cars. No direct fault at all of the campsite or staff, but perhaps Terms and Conditions could include reminder for parents/carers to monitor children's safety?

Myself and husband randomly chose this campsite when found it on google, very new at camping but had an excellent first experience, we went just on our own and it truly is a family site full of children so ideal for any family but as a couple we were made very welcome, the site was amazingly clean n tidy, the pitches were huge so plenty of room, showers and toilet kept to high standards n the cafe was 100% worth visiting to, can't wait to return with all our family and grandchildren

Spent 2 nights to try out new tent.
Well kept site short grass, plenty of space to pitch my tent. Toilets and showers excellent. Plenty of hot water and always clean. Bigger than I thought, but not a problem.
Friendly site, games room and cafe,
Well worth a visit, close to Hastings.
Would recommend. I will stay longer next time.

This is our 5th visit to Chestnut Meadow and was impressed as always. The site has a nice games room in case its raining, spotless toilets which are cleaned regularly, a lovely cafe (which does very yummy home made cakes!) and a little shop with the essentials.
The staff and owners are so friendly, its like visiting family. They also keep strict control over noise levels and times, so if you want to play music and talk loudly past 11pm, this isn't the site for you - but for us its perfect.
It is safe for children with a nice central playing area just outside the tent (depending where you pitch) which has a site circular road - our son loves going off and making new friends and we feel happy and secure about this.
There isn't a great deal to walk to from the actual site but the surrounding area is good - Eastbourne, Hastings, Bodiam Castle etc.
All in all our favourite site - highly recommended.

We have just returned from 4 nights at Chestnut Meadow and I feel I must leave a review as this was a seriously well run site.
The staff were all so friendly and I mean ALL of them! from the cafe staff to shop staff to the staff cleaning the site daily. You have to be quiet from 11pm which is great for a family site as enough time for adults to have a laugh and a few drinks but peace of mind for those who need sleep as the site was silent by 11pm (except my rather excited sister-in-law on the first night- she was very politely asked to be quiet by a member of staff which she respected!).
The site was immaculate. Toilet blocks always clean with toilet paper and hot showers. Washing up facilities also great. Didn't queue for either!
There was always a member of staff around picking up litter, checking bins etc. And wandering around the site but you didn't feel as though you were being checked up on as they never looked at your camp when wandering around. The site felt very secure and I was relaxed knowing my kids had a bit of freedom. On one occasion I briefly lost site of my daughter and a member of staff immediately asked if I was OK as she could see concern on my face.
The kids play area was perfect and there is a games room which we didn't use but would be good if it was raining or if you had older children. The shop was very reasonably priced and was well stocked with lots of bits you may have forgotten and cheap kids toys and sweets. Our kids loved going to the shop on their own with 20p and being able to buy a few sweets or a toy. I also did a little treasure hunt for them wit toys and sweets and only spent £3!
We had breakfast in the cafe on the day we left to avoid washing up. The food was beautiful and well priced and again the staff went out of their way to ensure we had everything, kids ok, high chair clean etc. I can honestly say I can't remember when we last had such good service!
The only down side from our pint of view was the fact there is nothing within walking distance of the campsite (we enjoy a stroll to a local country pub or a bike ride) but loads of great stuff to do within 15 mins drive. Battle was a great town to wander around and for a cream tea.

This is a lovely site on the outskirts of Bexhill. It is very well maintained with excellent showers, toilets and washing up facilities. We stayed over the bank holiday weekend when the site was full, but the way in which it is laid out means that there is plenty of space for everyone. The pitches are large, and wide grassed areas have been left for children to play, so it did not feel crowded. Although the site is in Bexhill, it is quite a long walk or cycle to the beach, along either busy or very narrow roads. It is however well placed to explore the local area including Rye, Hastings, Battle, Eastbourne and Beachy Head.

What a lovely campsite cannot recommend enough. Friendly welcome from the start and plenty of staff to escort you to your pitch which was very roomy, plenty of space for caravan, awning and car and not on top of each other. Lots of children about but not over noisy and all quiet at night. The cafe was brilliant, still can't believe the size of the cake! which was delicious. Take away service was superb even delivering to your pitch to save you waiting. The toilet block was one of the best I've been in, loved the showers, stool, plenty of hooks and a shelf in the shower to put your shower stuff in. There was a queue but luckily I'd got in there early. Would have liked a bit more lighting around the site at night but that may make it harder for the tent campers to sleep with too much light. All in all just a brilliant site.

After being recommended by a friend we booked a 3 night stay in the lead up to the Easter weekend, we enjoy camping and have been to quite a few sites but none of which have been as clean and well kept as Chestnut Meadow.
From the moment of booking in at arrival until checking out, the staff look after your every need. They make sure that the site is kept clean and tidy, the toilet block is extremely clean and well designed. There is enough space to shower, dry and dress unlike many other sites I have been to.
There is a kids playground, games room and the sites is so flat with no hedges that we were happy to allow my 3 year old daughter to scoot around the entire site, go to the games room and the park as from our pitch (and what ever pitch you were are at) you would be able to see your child and this makes you feel at ease whilst giving your little one some freedom.
There is a licensed cafe, opening times varied due to season. They were open for breakfast and dinners and we ate dinner twice and breakfast on the last day, all were superb and we had breakfast there once we had packed the tent away and packed the car ready to leave which was fantastic plans as it was a gorgeous breakfast and good value.
There isn't anything bad I can say about this site. The site is so quiet, at the end of a country lane but also a short drive to local amenities such as Lidl, Sainsburys and Tesco. We went to Bexhill on sea, free parking on the seafront which is rare and a nice place to visit, very clean along the front and a nice chilled place to visit.
We had a superb time at Chestnut Meadow, the staff were all so very very friendly as were e fellow campers. We are looking forward to return again soon 10/10

We are due to go back to chestnut meadow this week and can't wait. we have been several times and can't find another site to match not only the standards but the staff who are so helpful and friendly and make you feel part of the family. thanks to the owner and his team for everything they have done to help us as my husband has had 7 heart attacks and now 4 strokes so they are aware and I know they keep their eye on us to make sure we are ok xxxxx

Nice site. Huge pitches. Easygoing and friendly staff that also ensure no late night or early morning noise. Spent a nice long weekend there and would recommend. Toilets/showers all immaculate. The cafe serves good food (large portions) reasonably priced and licensed. The games room has pool/table tennis/air hockey and separate snooker room for adults. Bus stop outside site for Bexhill/Hastings so all in all a good find.
PS Entrance is a bit tight so take a wide turn to get in)

Have stayed here a few times now - it's great! Location is perfect for exploring battle, surrounding villages and bexhill beaches ( sorry Hastings but you look very tired!). A well run site with a great shop for whatever you need and a lovely looking cafe (yet to eat there but v popular!). The pitches are well spaced and have all you need, there is a good play area and indoor games room with air hockey etc and huge freezer if you need it! Most campers are friendly but there were a few 'regulars' (seasonal - not sure) who paraded around like grand dukes tutting and passing comment at various things (mainly the fact that there were other people present by the gist of it!) - sad but quite funny!
The facilities are very good a cut above, and there are lots of walks just outside the site for doggies and family picnics in the woods :). The entrance looks like you have taken a wrong turn, long and feels narrow although we have not had a problem. Recommend booking as it gets busy.

After years of camping in a tent we bought a new Camp Let trailer tent and wanted to try it before the winter. This site is very close to where we live but what a find. Whenever and wherever we camp there is usually something that we think could be improved - that is until we got to Chestnut Meadow. Too many good things to mention them all and not one negative (we can't blame them for the rain!) The food in the on site cafe was so good we rang our friends who joined us for a Saturday night meal, the prawn curry was great!
Thanks to all the staff for taking such pride in creating this brilliant site.

Just got back from a two night stay at Chestnut Meadow with my wife and our 3 children. This was our first proper camping experience and we were not disappointed. The site is well run and very organised and staff were always friendly and willing to help. The shower and toilet facilities were always kept clean, the pitches were tidy with ample room and the cafe and shop have all the essentials you would need - including freshly baked bread in the morning. Add an indoor games room and playground and you have all the makings of a top quality site. Our only regret was not spending more time at the site as there is so much to do in the local area. Bodiam Castle and the Birling Gap are both recommended day excursions.
We will definitely be going back at some point.
