Lovely site, very clean, very friendly. Plenty for the children to do.
The toilets are warm, modern, clean and you don't need 20p for the showers (which is the case for most sites that I've been to recently)
The on site cafe was lovely and offers a much appreciated takeaway and delivery service when we late on our first night.
I would recommend this site although it does get very busy during high season, it didn't feel crowded

We are a family of 4 who have just returned from this site after spending 4 nights here over the August Bank Holiday. We travelled with 3 other families and were placed all together.
Exceptionally friendly welcome on arrival. Well maintained site.
Small friendly family site with great size pitches. We have a large trailer tent. Plenty of room. Large open field space for kids to play. We had fun playing rounders and cricket.
Very modern and clean shower/toilet blocks. Free hair-dryers. Well covered wash-up area with bins for food wastage.
The site has a family games room with pool table, table tennis and table football. All free of charge. Great for a rainy day (which we had on Saturday !) A little disappointed the air hockey game was 'out of order'
Outside play area for younger guests is well secured by wooden fence and gate.
Well stocked shop with helpful staff.
Warden walks round at 11. 00pm to make sure all is quiet.
Very pleasant café on site. Non-fussy simple menu with plenty of variety. Kids menu too. Good quality food. Large portions. Excellent service from waiting staff. No need to drive off site for a decent meal !
On our rainy day we drove to Bexhill Leisure Pool. Kids loved the wave machine and flume. Gets busy in school hols obviously.
Bexhill has a small pebble beach. Low-key seaside resort. It has a few cafes, amusements and ice-cream outlets. My kids went in the sea with body boards and wetsuits (rather chilly !)
We didn't visit Hastings or Eastbourne.
All in all a fabulous break and a super site !
Well done 'Chestnut Meadow'
Will undoubtedly return next year. If they will have us ??? hee hee

We have just returned from spending the bank holiday at this site. What can I say but a fantastic family friendly site. Facilities are immaculate and the staff are very friendly. I would recommend the café for anyone wanting a decent quality meal without travelling.
Pitches are large and nicely spaced. Even after heavy rain drained quickly.
Close to being full by facilities were always clean even with the bad weather on the Saturday. Kids could feel free to roam around and play in the centre field without disturbing anyone.
Lovely area with loads to do. We will definitely be returning next year for longer and with the tent this time

Had a three day stopover at Chestnut Meadow and would highly recommend a visit. Pitch size and layout is top drawer, facilities new and spotlessly clean. The whole site has a great relaxed feel to it and the owners and staff make you feel very welcome. Club for kids and a cafe with patio were a nice touch also. A no noise rule after eleven I thought particularly good as the site had a lot of families camping. Very small niggle was a queue for the showers, but get in early. Well Recommended.

We(2 adults children 4 and 6yo)have just returned from a wonderful 10 days at chestnut meadow campsite and in general we can't fault the place. I would say it's very family friendly and children are often out and about until around 9pm riding bikes and scooters etc around the perimeter road and the 5mph for cars limit makes it quite safe. The large field space in the centre of the site is ideal for kite flying and luckily the well stocked shop on site sells them very cheap. The cafe portions are extremely large so the prices aren't that bad around £35 for 4 of us with drinks.
Showers and toilets were clean especially the gents side, the wife said some of the younger girls were left to go unsupervised and could leave a mess behind and the older girls would leave makeup removers etc on the side of the sinks but it never took long to tidy as they were often checked it seems. Bexhill is very nice with a large play area near the beach and some great water fountains on the promenade that all the kids were loving running through. Parking near the beach was free on street parking and it never took long to find a spot within 2 mins walk of the sea.
We really enjoyed our 2nd trip out in the tent and seeing this part of England we'll be going somewhere else next year but if we could take this campsite with us each year in a different area of the UK then that would be ideal.

On both areas you will enjoy five-star, centrally-heated showers, and private cubicles with toilet, hand basin, dryers etc. Laundry and campers kitchens, a large childrens playground, sports field, games room and television lounge. Well we have just arrived home from our very first camping trip(me, my husband and my two children 13 and 11). I cannot recommend this site enough. The staff are friendly and helpful and make you feel at ease from the moment you arrive, even escorting you to your pitch. The pitches are really large with more than enough space for you to set up and spred out without feeling like you are on top of your neighbours. The showers/toilet's are always warm and clean and very well maintained. Large central area so plenty of space for the children to run, play, fly kites etc.
The whole set up has been so well thought and the little touches are great, charging of mobiles/laptops for a very small charge and free use of a large freezer.
And for the days when you just don't want to cook the cafe is wonderful. At first glance you may think it is a little pricey but believe me the food is superb and the portions are huge! We will def return!

We love camping and have visited many sites over the years and this is one of the best. The position of the site is peaceful no road noise or houses nearby so you really feel like your in the middle of nowhere. Their website is great but does not do it justice maybe because they cannot capture the relaxed happy atmosphere of the site. They have also missed some great selling points on the website such as space left clear in middle of field for families to play - this on top of the huge pitches is a real treat, there was lots of rounders and cricket going on whilst we were there. Rules state min noise and no children out after dusk and before 7. 30am another good point in my mind. I agree with previous reviewer the narrow road approaching the campsite is a worry and I was nervous driving down it as there are few pull over spaces a mirror or sensored traffic light system would help. I also agree with all other good points previously mentioned and will definitely return next year.

So far I have to say this is one of my very favourite sites and have very little to say against it.
Fantastic shower blocks, best I've seen. Really excellent and safe facilities for children - in fact the site seems very secure and we were happy letting the children roam a little more than we usually would. The on site cafe is fabulous - quality of food is a real surprise.
The pitches are a great size and I love that the owners haven't over capitalised on the space available and still leave the centre of the field free for playing.
Fantastic, friendly service. The rules of the site mean a pleasant stay for all and these rules are enforced in a friendly way.
Cannot recommend this site enough! I've never given a 10/10 before!

Stayed here from 2nd to 7th Aug 2013and had a great stay. Rang site to advise we would be late as stuck in traffic and duly arrived at 9. 30pm. The staff were there to meet us and gave a brief overview of site, another member of staff took the lead (on bicycle), which I think is a great touch, and showed us to our pitch. The pitch itself had plenty of room. The electrics were in very close proximity so it was simple to hook up. There are plenty of water stations around the site. The washrooms + also the washing up area (plenty of sinks etc) were always kept clean + tidy. We had a meal at the on site restaurant which was very good. We didn't use the games room but all looked to be ok. The children on holiday all appeared to be having a good time with lots of excited talk to be heard. The site, after 10pm, is very quiet which in my opinion is a very good thing. All the staff we encountered while there were all friendly, helpful and informative. I would definitely return again.

Lovely, well laid out site with generous spaced pitches. You will not be disappointed. On site café and games room/playground for children and the toilet/shower rooms 100%. Beach only 10 mins away by car. Great site and great owners/wardens.
The entrance is very easy to miss, so slow right down when you see the sign on the opposite side of the road. The entry lane is narrow, so only room for one vehicle at a time. It might be useful to have a two-way mirror erected on the sign post too as coming back out on the main road, other drivers are not so obliging to let you out and the entrance is on a bend.
Don't be put off by these last comments just take care and enjoy.

Just returned after a four night visit to this site. This was our first trip in our motorhome after changing from a caravan so thought we would treat ourself to a fully serviced pitch, nice touch having a light on top of the electric and water point saves hunting for your torch if you need to go out to it in the night. The toilets and showers are spotless and the water nice and hot. Cafe was only open for breakfast Wednesday and Friday and not in the evening as site was not very busy. Being the first time without the car found it a fair walk to the pub for an evening meal. The bus service is good and a rover ticket is good value but you need to keep an eye on the time as they stop running quiet early in the evening. The staff were very nice and very helpful. We did have breakfast in the cafe the day we came home and it was very good and good value and set us up for the trip home.

In preparation for our first camping trip this summer we wanted somewhere close by to have dress rehearsal.
Having read reviews we chose Chestnut Meadow, on arrival at reception we were quickly checked in by friendly staff and shown to our spacious pitch ample for our large tent and awning.
The toilets, showers as previously mentioned were spotless as was dishwashing area.
The site has good outside play area and indoor games room which our 10 year old son enjoyed.
On our first night we opted to use the cafe/bistro this has a pleasant patio if you want to eat outside, we opted to go inside due to weather, the decor leans more to cafe more than bistro but don't
Let this put you off the food was excellent. , so much so that we used it again next night and sat out.
Shops, pubs, and takeaways all close by with car or good walk 30 mins approx.
My only worry is we have been spoilt by the high standards at Chestnut Meadow, hopefully our trip to Cornwall will be as pleasurable.

Our third family camping trip and our first time at this site. However, we have already decided that we're going back again. The fact that you can only get on site with a passcard meant some security. The pitches were very large and well set out. The toilet/shower blocks were very modern and cleaned regularly with plenty of free hot water and free hairdryers. The cafe was superb with friendly, knowledgable staff who couldn't do enough to help. The food was delicious and fresh too and reasonably priced. The indoor games room and outdoor play area gave the kids plenty to do when we were on site. (kids aged 7, 13 & 15). And the whole site felt safe for them to roam & play with some independance. The site itself is well positioned for exploring the local area and the reception/shop have an abundance of info flyers for local attractions. I would highly recommend this site to anybody with children. However, if you would rather have a peacefu break then still go here. Just not in school holidays.

We had another good weekend at Chestnut Meadow. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. The site is large with good sized pitches and a good sized play area for the kids. The toilets and showers are always clean. Breakfast at the on site cafe is excellent and not bad value.
The downside of this site is it is always busy now, bank holiday weekends always booked in well in advance and high season you cannot book for one night. This is great news for the owners but for me I have started using other nearby sites which do allow one night booking.

This is a lovely, family-friendly, clean and quiet campsite.
The pitches are flat, and really generous, giving enough space for a very large tent, your car AND space for the kids to play. This site was full when we went over the 1st May bank holiday weekend, so I was expecting it to be noisy and busy. It wasn't. The site layout is designed to give lots of space, with a large area in the middle for kids to play. The road around the site is great for kids to ride bikes, scooters or skates.
The toilet and shower facilities are spotlessly clean. The showers are warm and free. There are mops for you to clean your shower afterwards, which helps keep it in a great condition. Lots of hooks are provided to hang towels etc - it has all been carefully thought out to make it as good as possible.
The staff are friendly and are happy to help if there's a problem. Our younger children (ages 7 & 10) loved the playground area. The on-site shop and cafe are great too. On our last day we wanted bacon butties from the cafe, and they were brought to our pitch when they were made. A great detail, thank you for this thoughtful, friendly, helpful service!
In summary, this campsite is great, and we'd really love to come back here for another relaxing holiday.
