 The staff at Chestnut Meadow are very helpful an able to recommend lots to do in the local area.
The toilets are the cleanest I have ever seen and the site has an excellent cafe which does amazing reasonably priced breakfasts and a reasonably stocked shop.
There is also an indoor games room with pool, table tennis, air hockey and table football. The pitches are huge and nearly all have electric hook up.
The site is quite exposed and there is a small amount of road noise but there is an abundance of wildlife and brilliant walks to high woods.
The only negative was that the cafe is only open in the evening during busy times and this was not made clear on their web site.

We stayed at Chestnut Meadows from the 30th May to 3rd June.
There was 6 of us staying in a 10 man tent, the pitch was very spacious and we didn't feel cramped, in reception you had a shop, there is a games room, cafe, and play area. The staff was very helpful, the shower facilities were very spacious and there was always hot water, it was very clean.
At the entrance there was a little footpath where you can walk through with your dog and it leads to big fields and a forest.
We thoroughly enjoyed it and the kids absolutely loved it, we will book again. Oh yes the dog absolutely loved it as well, mustn't forget him.

Amazing site,
Very large pitches,
High quality showers, all very clean.
We were only there two nights so didn't see much of the staff as we had no problems but arrival and departure was easy and anyone we did speak to were very friendly.
We didn't have children at the time so didn't use the play area etc but we did eat in the café/restaurant. The food was well priced and high quality.
No noise at night (site was about half full). Good base to see many things in the area.
It's taken me a while to get round to doing the review as children got in the way of camping and we haven't been back on the website for a while but this campsite was so memorable I had to make sure I reviewed it.
We have just purchased a new tent and tried to get back on the site for bank holiday but unsurprisingly it was fully booked.
We will definitely be going back soon with our two kids!

This was our first time under canvas so we didn't want to go too far away.
We were not disappointed: the loos, showers, etc were excellent - clean, well maintained and top notch quality - loved the recycled plastic doors etc.
The cafe was licensed and served good home cooked food which we will definitely use more next time. The on-site shop lacked vegetarian food but really this is my only criticism, the prices were very reasonable unlike a lot of places that take advantage.
The play facilities could be slightly more diverse to keep the kids happier for more of the time, however, overall we were very pleased and will certainly be returning.

Stayed for two nights and the owners were very welcoming, we were given a leaflet with campsite/local info on it.
The toilet block is exceptional, very well thought out in terms of space in the showers, four hooks instead of the usual one!The showers were nice and hot.
Facilities for recycling very well marked up.Pitch space was good,there was an area for children to play on and a games room as well as a cafe/restaurant but we went off site so never used them.
I would definitely stay again if we were in the area, also there is a regular bus route very close by.

Superb site. Very quiet for the 3 days that we stayed there but the most helpful and friendly owners and staff you could wish for. Every facility catered for with an emphasis on recycling.
The toilets/showers were spotless with constant hot water and lots of mirrors, hooks etc. A good hairdryer provided. The site has a licensed cafe and a decent shop and the 'Meadows' aspect of its name is very evident.
Although the grass was cut, it was not manicured and pristine like some sites. Wild flowers abounded, very pretty. There is a bus stop at the end of the lane and not far to drive for a supermarket and other retail shops.
The drive leading up to the site is narrow but well signed from the main road. We chose the site because of the excellent reviews and were not disappointed at all. Highly recommended.

This is a small campsite with sizeable flat pitches and modern shower and toilet facilities which we found to be clean and tidy.
The campsite and play area was safe and enclosed which helped with our younger children. Our older children seemed to appreciate the indoor games room when it rained.
The owners were friendly and helpful and were quick to draw attention to any potential dangers with children e.g skateboards etc.
During our stay we drove to Kent and east Sussex railway and took the children on a steam train to bodinum castle with our dog, which was a good day out.
We camped here for three nights and had a quiet and relaxing time.

Used this site as it was close to where friends in Bexhill live. What a breath of fresh air it was compared to many commercial sites we have used over the years. The owners seemed genuinely happy to be looking after us and the site toilet and shower facilities were immaculate & certainly live up to the 5 star billing.
The Cafe is hardly done justice by calling it that as it looks more like a restaurant and the wicker chairs and soft furnishings outside make you want to sit there all day.The choice of food was amazing.
Add to that a massive games room for the kids if the weather is bad and they have catered for everything. The shop stocks most things including locally sourced ham, sausages all at very, very reasonable prices.
WiFi available throughout the site for a small charge.
The families who run this site deserve to succeed. We will definitely be returning. If I could give it more than 10 out of 10 I would

Returned to this fantastic site for the first time this year, one of many I hope(another already booked) having been on multiple visits last year, and we wasn't disappointed! An absolutely delightful site, Andy and crew as wonderful and welcoming as ever and despite the site being full, we continued to have the sense that we were away from it all - helped greatly by the huge pitches. We took a walk with the dog across the fields behind the site and into the woods and it was an absolutely gorgeous area. The toilets and showers remain the cleanest ever seen on a campsite and having sampled both a 'king breakfast' and a slice of cake, I can definitely say the cafe offers excellent food! We will be back and thank you for making our stay so wonderful.

This was our first camp under canvass and booked at the last minute because of the reviews. Would thoroughly recommend to all ages.
On site cafe of such a high standard it would put most other establishments to shame, serving homemade food, sensible pricing too.
Toilets, showers, washing up facilities and kids playground the best you will find. Pitches excellent. All staff/family more than helpful with everyone mucking in.
Large area in middle of campsite great for kids and keeps them from playing around the pitches.
Very good, all round.

Our first visit to Chestnut Meadow but almost certainly not our last. Our party included a couple of slightly apprehensive first time campers and we couldn't have picked a better site for them.
The facilities are absolutely superb. The toilet and shower block is spotless and very well thought out. The on-site cafe provides good food at sensible prices and the on site shop has a good range of essentials.
The pitches are enormous and although the site was pretty close to full towards the end of our stay it never felt cramped. The middle area is plenty big enough for football, cricket, kite flying etc.
The best thing about Chestnut Meadow is the staff. Whoever you speak to whether it's in the shop, the cafe or just generally around the site there's always a smile and a willingness to help that just makes all the difference. These guys obviously put a lot of effort into making Chestnut Meadow a first class site.
If you do visit be sure to check out the woods behind the site. We spent a lovely few hours getting lost in amongst the bluebells. If we'd had more time we'd have taken a picnic and made a day of it.

Just back from an amazing long weekend at Chestnut Meadow. A fantastic site, facilities are excellent and really well thought out. It's the little things that make all the difference and Andy and his family really do pay attention to all the details, right down to a really well appointed area to empty the 'kampa kazi'!
Cleanliness of toilet areas was perfect,well supplied with all the necessities and copious quantities of hot water available on demand. Spacious pitch, helped greatly by the quietness this weekend, but even if it had been busier there was plenty of space. Wonderful food in the cafe, great service and very friendly owners. We will definitely be back! Plenty to do in the surrounding areas and good local pubs if you fancy eating off-site.

Have just returned from a wonderful weekend at Chestnut Meadow. It was the first weekend of their season but everything was very organised and a warm welcome awaited. It really is a perfect place to unwind; the pitches are large, the facilities are spotless and you are surrounded by countryside and woodland. The cafe serves great evening meals and a scrummy breakfast or you can just sit outside on the terrace in comfy chairs with a coffee and watch the world go by.
As we live fairly local, my son volunteered to bring my 85 year old father down to visit for the day. The owners were really understanding & nothing was too much trouble. I can't really comment on the surrounding area as we barely felt the need to leave the site but it is a good base for Battle, Hastings & Eastbourne.
I believe this is only their second year of trading but I can forsee this campsite going from strength to strength and they certainly deserve to succeed.
Thank you to all at Chestnut Meadow - we WILL be back!

Visited this site after reading the reviews.This site lives up to all the reviews. A warm friendly greeting.Shown to our pitch and asked if we needed any help. Large. Flat. Well tended pitch.
Toilet block the best kept we have visited. A lot of thought has gone in to the layout and it really shows. The Cafe serves excellent food at very reasonable prices.
Large indoor games room and outdoor play area for the kids.Lays well back off the road,so is really peaceful. The entrance is a bit tricky the first visit
The brown sign is right opposite the entrance. We will be visiting this site again next year along with a lot of others I suspect. Full marks to this site.!

This being our second visit to Chestnut Meadow, friends joined us this time and they were not disappointed with our recommendation.
Our first time to have a fully serviced pitch, great and would recommend.
This visit we ate in the cate/bistro for an evening meal and next day for breakfast, very good (better than many restaurants) and reasonable prices.
The cakes looked fantastic. Next visit I will sneak in to try some.
All facilities were very good, the owners and staff even arranged good weather.
We will return
