SUPERB! The owner and family cannot be helpful enough. The site is pristine, pitches are very large and defined. Brilliant shop and takeaway. Highly recommend you try. Order freshly baked goods for the next morning, very reasonably priced. Site very quiet in the evening ( only the wildlife is noisy) Don't be put off by a pitch near any bins or the children's play area as the bins are small and emptied often, play area is closed at 9 pm
Just got back from a brilliant holiday at Tregarton, our first visit to this area of Cornwall. The weather certainly helped but Tregarton provided a great site as a base for our holiday. Pitches are large and relatively flat. The site is attractive with trees and views of the countryside. We could just about see the sea from our pitch. The toilets and showers are very well appointed and given the site was full, I never had to queue. I don't think the photos on the website do them justice. The showers were very hot and not adjustable but always clean. The shop on site was very reasonably priced, and you could order fresh bread, croissants etc for next morning. The pool area was lovely, warm water, plenty of sunloungers and you could buy coffees, icecreams etc for by the pool. This made my daughter's holiday. We had our dog with us, there was a good sized dog meadow where they could be let off lead. The area is very dog friendly, lots of beaches where you can take the dog, plenty of restaurants where you can take the dog in.
Mevagissey is a nice harbour village, restaurants, gift shops and pubs. Gorran Haven had a good beach and a great coastal walk. Porthluney Cove was about 2. 5 miles away and a very pretty spot. We went across the other coast for bodyboarding to Holywell Bay. Not far in miles but did take about 45 minutes as slow going.
A great holiday all round. Many people had been to Tregarton before and I would happily return.
Just got back from Tregarton, I must admit I'm a little disappointed as I expected it to be fantastic after all the reviews. I was greeted by a friendly lady in the reception, told where our pitch was and sent on our way. Different experience for the caravans though, they get shown their pitch and the vans were sited for them. I wasn't expecting the tent to be put up for us, it would have been nice to be shown where the pitch was though. I assume they must prefer caravans.
Our pitch wasn't great, the only way we could pitch our tent was facing straight into nextdoors tent, taking away ours and their privacy. We then had sleeping issues because the pitch was on a slope along with two holes in the ground to navigate around. The area where we were based was lovely though as it was quiet. I would have cried if I'd of chosen a pitch up at the top of the site though, as the noise all day long from the playground would have driven me mad!. We heard other campers complaining of the noise at night by older kids playing football gone 11. 30, again I'm glad I missed out on that. Nothing the site can do about the cows, just bare in mind they tend to 'talk' every night, some more than others and for a varying amount of time.
The facilities were clean, the floors were always wet and slippy though, I saw a few kids slipping over when they weren't taking care. Didn't like the fact you couldn't alter the temperature of the water in the showers, they were far to hot on a hot day and my 5 year old son complained they were too hot so we had to improvise all week with him. I Loved the fact they were power showers though!. The Washing up facilities were spotless other than other lazy campers, and the washing machines and driers were the best I've ever come across.
The play park was ok for a little while, older kids would soon get bored quickly I should imagine. The tennis court looked lovely, never saw it being used for some reason. The pool was lovely and warm and clean. A couple of families were having some kind of ball game in the pool on one of the days, not caring about others or younger children in the pool, they basically had taken over the pool. Not a fault of the site, just selfish campers. It put my son off going in again.
The shop covered all the basics, and the bread and croissants were to die for. I'm sure I've put on a stone!. The takeaway wouldn't win awards, perfectly edible though. We went for a meal at the local pub 'The Crown', again it was ok, if not a little expensive for the quality. We also ate out in Mevagissey while watching the fishing boats going out. We didn't use any of the local shops other getting a fabulous steak from Lobbs farm shop at Heligan. There's a variety of supermarkets in St Austell to cater for all tastes.
All in all a nice site, just missing a certain something. I would possibly return one day if we returned to the area.
Spent two weeks here in the summer of 2013, adjoining pitches with our son &family.
Spacious pitches both with EH, level and separated with a small hedge which added to privacy.
All facilities were excellent, hot free showers always clean.
Shop sold fresh bread, scones, pasties as well as an array of all you could possibly need, also did takeaway meals in the late afternoon/ evening, a good menu and reasonably priced.
Children's play area was well equipped, and the swimming pool was a added bonus.
The laundry facilities were excellent and very well used, machines added detergent automatically so no need to buy washing powder.
A very peaceful, family friendly site.
Days out too numerous to mention, Mevagissy close by but site well placed for visiting Padstow, Newquay, Fowey to name but a few.
Overall we all had a very enjoyable holiday and only had one wet day!
Absolutely superb - from the minute you arrive and your 'van is sited for you - to the minute you leave.
With a heated swimming pool, tennis court, large children's play area, excellent on-site shop (takeaway food available too!) Tregarton Park is unbelievable value for money.
The toilet block is immaculate, with some of the best shower cubicles I've seen on a site, and kept in pristine condition by the friendly staff. The pitches are generous in size, and with hedges and trees separating one pitch from the next, you get an unusually high degree of privacy.
Ideally located for visits to the quaint fishing port of Mevagissey, the site also gives easy access to the whole of the beautiful Roseland Peninsular
We've just left (reluctantly!) after two weeks of glorious Cornish sunshine - we will be back!
What a fantastic site, still here as I write, nice undulating site which isn't obvious on site plan but makes it even more pleasant. Upon arrival we were shown our pitch and told to relax as the warden unhitched our van and hitched it to his vehicle and set it up for us nice and level, the shower block is kept spotless and the staff are very pleasant, the pool is heated and is fab, can't rate this site highly enough, 10 out of 10.
Well, where do I start!? This is a fantastic site. We stayed for 5 nights. On arrival, we were warmly welcomed and provided with all the essential information plus a pack of leaflets for local attractions, which I thought was great. The on-site shop is well stocked with all the essentials. The staff are all very friendly and around to help. The first night, we had a take away from the shop. It was a good price, good size and very tasty, and there is lots of choice on the menu. The toilet block is lovely. It is clean and the showers are great with plenty of hot water. We used the pool a couple of times. It is warm and kept clean. The site is very big and has over 100 pitches, but each pitch is large with plenty of room and you don't feel on top of each other. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this site.
At £8. 50 per night for 7 nights this was too good to miss.
Way out in the Cornish countryside, wonderfully quiet and peaceful. A warm welcome at reception and given a package of brochures advertising the local attractions. Given the pitch number and left to get on with it. Grass pitch, not quite level but not too difficult to square up the van. Shop and swimming pool were closed as was early in the season (Reflected in the price). Never visited the amenities so can't comment, but the site was immaculate with ground staff constantly mowing etc.
Children's playground on site. Very pleasant view across the Cornish landscape.
Warning, don't follow your sat nav but note the directions on their website, you could have problems down some of the lanes with a van on tow.
Not an awful lot in the immediate vicinity so it was St. Austell for a supermarket tho' did find a nice pub a couple of miles through the lanes that did a lovely meal.
Mevagissey is the nearest town, tho' have to park on the edge of the quaint town centre and walk in, not good when on sticks but a very interesting place.
This was our first visit to Tregarton and will not be our last. I think it is the nicest site we have ever stayed on. Clean, friendly. Lovely showers and toilets, always clean and plenty of hot water. The facilities are second to none, you could have a great family holiday here without leaving the site. The week before coming to Tregarton we stayed at a CCC site in Devon which cost us twice as much with hardly any facilities. We liked the fact that there wasn't a huge list of do's and don'ts, nobody bothered us at all. We were shown to our pitch on arrival and the offer of help was there if we wanted it.
A lovely place, super views of the sea were a bonus. See you again and thank you for a lovely week.
This is our second visit to the park in late season when prices are exceptionally low. Sadly toilet/shower block badly in need of TLC and perhaps some sort of extraction as floors were always wet and slippery during busy periods. This was a talking point amongst a lot of visitors.
Grass cutting still very hit and miss with lots of cut grass left on roads (as it was on our last visit)
Owners very friendly and helpful and will expertly site caravans for you if required.
Shop, takeaway and swimming pool on site but these close early September.
Park situated in lovely area with many little places to visit as well as large towns.
Nice fenced play area for children at top of park as well as tennis court.
Would visit again if toilet block refurbished.
Management response: Many thanks for your review, may I take this opportunity to respond.
I feel I have had to reply due to your comment asking for "a refurbished toilet block" on the basis of a wet floor. I do feel your comment misrepresents the quality of our toilet block.
Our toilet block had a complete refurbishment, at a cost of £125,000, only 4 years ago. Thanks to the dedication of our cleaning teams throughout the season and the consideration of our park guests over that time I am pleased to say the toilet block still looks and feels like new. The porcelain floor tiles are non-slip and conform to all British Safety Standards. Photos of the quality of our toilet block can be viewed on our UKCampsite.co.uk listing and I am very proud of this facility.
Stayed at the site for one night as a stop over point. Met on arrival by the owner and given a pitch number. This was a first visit but we were given no information on the facilities or their whereabouts etc.
The pitches are well signed which was good since we were left to find it ourselves. The pitch allocated was sheltered and reasonably sized/level but not much in the way of a view. The site was quite busy, however as it was term time there were not many children about and the other users seemed to prefer to keep themselves to themselves so the site was pleasantly peaceful.
The toilet/shower facilities are good but situated at the top end of the site which meant quite a walk from most pitches and one I found uncomfortable alone at night.
We loved this site, from the ability to book and choose your pitch online to the friendly welcome on arrival this site did not disappoint. The pitches are all large with EHU, none too far from the toilet block. The toilet block was always clean and we never found it too busy even in high season. I liked the fact there was a glass door on the showers meaning that clothes were definitely kept dry! (I do agree with some previous posters that the floor seemed to get very wet and slippery at times. I wonder whether this is from kids running from pool to toilets, leaving wet footprints. )
The pool was lovely, with great loungers and changing rooms and added a lovely Mediterranean feel to the site. The ability to eat food from the cafe at the poolside was lovely too. The kids loved the park, table tennis and tennis.
Overall we feel we have found a real gem of a site, that had a lovely relaxed atmosphere, with lovely facilities and all at a very reasonable price!
A nice warm welcome on arrival. A nice touch was the welcome pack with loads of flyers and info on local attractions. The site is well laid out and easily navigated. We were on pitch 80 which was a bit snug for our Vango Icarus 600 with canopy and windbreak, however there was a large grass area left clear for extra parking and playing so it wasn't a problem.
Toilet and shower areas were cleaned everyday around midday and wardens regularly checked and did extra mopping and cleaning after busy times.
Showers were always nice and hot and I never had to wait, although personally I like to get showered early and miss any queues. The shower cubicles could maybe do with an extra peg or two for clothes and towels.
The shop was well stocked and reasonably priced.
The café was great for snacks and takeaways.
The heated pool was great, nice and warm with plenty of sun loungers and seating.
Good play area for children which did get a tad noisy at times but the wardens closed it at 9pm and it soon quietened down.
Plenty of places nearby to visit. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are well worth a trip.
Overall a very pleasant stay in a lovely area and we'll be back in the near future.
I can only reiterate everything the previous reviewer has said. This is a fantastic site, it feels so safe for children, our 6 and 9 year old loved cycling around the site and met lots of friends in the excellent play park. I found this a very friendly park, people were always ready with a smile or a chat - campers and staff. What impressed me in particular, with so many children around was how quiet the site was at night, the park is closed at 9 which provides parents with a natural curfew and after this time silence reigns! The whole site is immaculate and the pool/cafe area fantastic. The take away and shop were really reasonable. Our pitch (52) was huge and we were not overlooked at all - easy access for the park but tucked out of sight. The local area is lovely and Gorran Haven a real highlight for us, just avoid high tide or you will find yourselves packed onto the beach like sardines - at low tide you will have acres of space with rockpools and perfect waves for beginners bodyboarding. Can't recommend this site highly enough - just make you step out of the shower cubicles to dry yourself, they are operated by a sensor which I accidentally activated just as I had finished drying myself!
Just returned from a week at this site and what can I say. Site very clean and staff very helpful, will even site and level you unit free of charge. Our pitch was the largest I have ever had. Toilet block very clean and shower nice and hot, it also has mop and bucket for your own use. Shop was well stocked and take away was very good and well priced. Pool was clean and nice and warm. The play park was a great hit with our two, the only time they wanted to leave was if we went to the pool. They also have a tennis court on site, didn't use so can't comment. Would we return? Yes, one of the best parks I have stayed on so far
