 We have stayed on this campsite before, last summer. We got a shock when we went recently and they had not informed when we rang to book our pitch that they have put up their prices by 50% from 2025! This is a huge increase and the current charges ( £15 per person plus £10 for electricity) is frankly far too much for a site that has poor amenities.
There are 3 rooms in the ‘ camp facilities’ part of the pub. The toilet is in need of repair/replacement as the toilet is unsafe. The 2 bathrooms have quite a lot of mould in the shower tray and the shower head in one was hanging off the wall.
The restaurant is also very over priced for certain items. We will not be staying there again.

Value for money grass pitch with good views and EHU if required.
Better than your average pub stop over with 24 hour access to toilets and showers.
Excellent beer, food and friendly staff.

Love the location. Perfect for walking for people of most abilities and public transport around the area. Neither of us heard any bells at night!
Food not served on a Monday, but there is ample choice nearby.
Chosen as a stopover, I will most likely return. My companion said the same.
The pitches were level with EHU. Water and facilities basic but adequate (in fact better than a lot of pubs) and open 24 hours.
We received a warm welcome and owners were very helpful with local information.
There were no children in our party, but the 6+ that were, certainly seemed to be having a great time, so much so that they clearly slept very soundly.
Local shops close by. Dog friendly too.

Nearest you'll get to the centre of Matlock & Matlock Bath.
Great little site at the back of the pub with loads of room.
Sloping in most of the field but we coped without ramps.
EHC, toilets, showers, bins but no Elsan.
£10 per person per night.
Had beers but no food in the pub. Staff friendly and the food did look good.
Loads of buses in Matlock to take days out.
Great stopover.

We have previously stayed on the site, many years ago as a family of 3. Now as a family of 4 and one of those being quite young. We've loved it. The landlord and Landlady are lovely.
Showers and toilets are kept clean. My only issue would be the lights kept going out while in the shower which wasn't too much of a problem as me and the little girl showered before it got too dark.
Overall we're very happy with the site and it's close to the park and matlock town centre so not too far to gather everything you need shopping wise. There's Lots of nearby walks too.
We will definitely be returning in the future.

Adequate but basic facilities, 2 showers with toilets and basins, one single toilet with basin. No basin plugs, bring your own.
Site is opposite church which has a clock which chimes on the hour and every quarter 24/7, didn't bother me but may some.
Friendly and helpful staff.
4 hardstanding pitches rest on grass.
Short walk down the hill in to Matlock.
Overall a good site for exploring the Matlock / Bakewell area of the Peak District.

Great location and lovely field with plenty of electric points for hook up.
Very friendly staff and a nice pub.
The big let down was the facilities. The 2 showers were in poor shape with mould and no mop provided. One water tap near the pub but no facilities for pot wash other than the toilets.
I would stay here because of the location but a few small improvements could make it much better.

Good position with easy access into town.
Toilets and showers nice and warm and well kept.
Host very nice.
My only grievance would be no markings for pitch and vehicles far too close together.

Basic campsite, ramps needed, water and rubbish only.
They do have showers and toilets open 24hours.
Great landlord who welcomes you on site, very helpful.
Pub served good food and was very dog friendly.
If you are a light sleeper bells are ringing all night.

Nice place, handy for both Matlock and Matlock bath.
Pub seemed nice but we didn't try the food.
One of the two showers wasn't overly warm but they were clean and with plenty of room

Stayed at Duke William for 4 nights, pulled in and was told by the landlady to just park up and when we were set up come and pay.
It was just a field at the back of the pub but very quiet, (could have done with the grass cutting as was in a tent).
Toilets and showers was ok one of the showers was quite powerful.
Food and drink was very nice. Would go back again good spot for walking and seeing Matlock and Matlock baths, good bus route next to the pub.
Down side on our last day the church decided to start ringing the bells sounded nice, but at night it was every 15 minutes so not much sleep 😴😴

Great views from the pitch up the hill to Riber castle.
Fantastic Sunday carvery in the pub, reasonably priced too if you book to stay on a weekend.
Thanks to Phil who seems to do every job in the pub & on the site & who made us very welcome.
Other than a toilet/shower being out of action for maintenance (the other one was ok) we have no faults with The Duke William at Matlock.

Great value - £10 per person in tent (no electric).
Quiet site.
Toilets/showers open 24/7. A bit confusing to check in but nothing major.
You definitely need to eat at the pub next door - food was absolutely delicious (in fact, that’s one of the reasons we booked the site).
Thoroughly enjoyed our 1 night stay.

Nice friendly people always welcoming. Food very nice and reasonable.
Location beautiful walks without having to use a car.
Only downfall is no elsan toilet disposal.
Could benefit from having the 2 showers and 3 toilets re vamped and decorated as a bit tired which makes them look unwelcoming
But overall a lovely 3 days

Great little site, right next to a pub which does decent food and beer.
Ten pound a night for me and my single tent.
The showers do the job, albeit not the tidiest, and one was out of order.
Owners and staff were pleasant and welcoming.
It's situated about ten minutes walk from Matlock centre.
It's wasn't spectacular, but if like me you want simple and not exorbitant, I can recommend it.
All in all, it's alright y'know!
