Our first camping trip with our little boy - a very peaceful site with lovely views of the countryside - we instantly felt relaxed in our corner pitch. Nice and roomy pitch with EHU. A very helpful owner who accommodated my need to change dates twice - and a nice welcome. The toilets and showers were kept very clean - soap and towels plentiful. Lots of space in the field for my little fella to fly his kite. As the previous reviewer said there was obviously an issue with some unsavoury children - but I think the signs could be taken down as it's not very nice and maybe gives the wrong impression of this lovely site. Will definitely be back and have recommended to others - thanks Alex for a lovely and peaceful camping weekend :)

A very pleasant site in a very pleasant area. We were given lots of local information and a nice welcome, although we had turned up unannounced. The facilities were basic but clean. There were a lot of notices for children which suggested that they had had problems in the past. In view of the fact that the lanes on the site were not really suitable for children to ride bikes on as there was lack of adequate sighting at corners and junctions perhaps it would be better as adults only. Certainly children need to be closely supervised.

Just got back from celebrating our Silver Wedding Anniversary with a big family camp at Ecclesden Farm. We have been using this site for five years and Alex and John are wonderful and go out of their way to make people feel welcome. The location of the site is wonderful and although the facilities are basic, they are kept spotless. The camp was busy but not once did the toilet paper or hand towels run out, a small detail but extremely important.

Maiden voyage of our trailer tent & Ecclesden Farm proved to be just what we needed.

Facilities are basic but kept spotlessly clean by the lovely, helpful cleaners. Hot water & toilet roll both plentiful.

Close to the village for shopping, pubs etc.

Excellent value for money & one of only a few that would let us book just one night over the weekend.

Would happily return & would recommend :)

Perfect location on the edge of the downs, some sloped fields but 3 of them with plenty of room.

Basic but very adequate facilities. Novel self registration system (fill out envelope, put money in and droop through letterbox) with clearly marked helpline numbers. PLenty of local info and maps in the 'info shed'.

Site is a working farm complete with cows, free running cats and low flying pheasants. There is a public footpath running through the site, then a nice 2 mile circuit leads you round the farm edges great dog walk past old windmill and donkeys.

Can be slippery esp for FWD but owner willing to help out and also has other camping essentials such as gas on site.

Myself and the 'furry doorstop' loved it.

Only downside, non adjustable shower head!

Visited this site many times in the 1980's and 90's so as we have started to caravan again thought we would re-visit and remind ourselves of the past. The owners, Alex and John are a lovely couple and very welcoming and remembered us from the past. This is a lovely site with 3 fields all with ample space and with limited electric hookups, so you have the choice. Although basic the toilet and shower blocks were clean as was the washing up area. There is ample space for children to play and dogs are welcome. There are set rules regarding noise etc and a quiet period set for 10-30pm till 7-30am. Ideal for visiting the coast and South Downs National Park and with easy access from London via M25 and A24 make this a very accessible site for a weekend away. The downside to this site is the traffic noise from the two nearby roads which can be very intrusive even at night. Also, the weekend we visited two groups arrived with the sole intention of letting off steam so partied well into the early hours of the morning with total disregard to other campers. In future we will stick with C. L sites as we prefer a more quieter life so doubt that we will be returning which is a shame.

This was our first caravan holiday and we were initially apprehensive about where we should go and the facilities we would require, especially with a 15 month old. We were excited when we turned up at Ecclesden Farm as it appeared to be exactly what we wanted. The owners were lovely and provided us with detailed information on local shops and facilities in the area and John even took us to our pitch. The facilities are extremely clean and well stocked and there was always hot water for showers and washing up and most importantly, toilet roll available at all times. The campsite was busy when we turned up but space had been left in the middle of the field with lots of space to play and for the children (and adults) to run around. There are some beautiful walks from the farm with views of the sea and surrounding area and loads of things to do within about 6 miles of the farm. We would also highly recommend the Spotted Cow for food and spent a lovely afternoon eating and drinking! We will be back to Ecclesden Farm next year with friends and family and have already recommended it to several friends. 10/10 all round from the Gray Family

Just had 8 nights here at this lovely site. This is our second visit, our last being 3 years ago. We went this time with our now fully mobile 28mth old twin girls. If you love walking, like we do, this is the site for you. There are fantastic walks from this site that take you through National Trust land at Highfield Point - where you'll find some spectacular views out towards the coast.

As previously mentioned in other reviews, this site is basic. However, the shower blocks and toilets were always clean as were the washing up areas.

2014 charges: £12 per unit night, electric hook-up £3. 00 extra a night. A unit is 2 adults & up to 3 children under 16, thereafter £2. 50 per adult & £1. 50 per child a night. No extra charge for dogs, awnings, gazebos & cars £6. 00 for 2GB of WIFI for 7 days, which works well if you want it. They also allow you to put up a toilet tent and windbreak without extra charges - a lot of other sites charge extra for this. They even allow day visitors to come and see you without charging. There is massive amounts of space for kids to run around without disturbing other campers.

The owners and staff are incredibly friendly and very helpful.

There's even a Chinese Takeaway that only took 20mins to bring our food to us and they know where the pitches are!Lovely food by the way!

This is a great site for exploring the local area.

If you want camping in luxury with heated toilets and secure entry showers and peace and quiet, then this is not the site for you. This is a family site where everyone makes friends.

The clues in the title, this is a working farm.

My daughters 9 & 11 found that to be great. We had a pitch with hook-up and the facilities were better than I'd expected. As a place to stay for a weekend this is brilliant value and a massive site with huge areas to play ball sports and fly a kite.

A 15 minute walk to the Spotted Cow in Angmering with good beer and reasonable food. As a base to explore the area this is a brilliant location. If you are looking for somewhere to stay as a base whilst you explore the local area brilliant, if you're looking for a holiday camp feel then you've not chosen well.

Booked site on my sisters recommendation so had an idea what to expect. She described it as basic but adequate which is exactly how we found it. However, the site was very soft under foot after a day of very hard rain before our visit. The very friendly lady who runs the site with her husband warned us of this and put us in the least 'boggy' pitch. After a night of rain on the last day of our visit there was visible signs of water laying on the surface. But, to be fair this is after the wettest winter on record and not really the fault of the owners, and this was in April! Toilets and showers were very clean but I would imagine would be very busy when the site is at capacity due to there only being 1 male shower and 2 female showers. The washing up area was more than adequate with 3 sinks available. Please note this is a working farm.

Just spent the Easter weekend at Ecclesden farm, The site has 3 camping fields, with hookup pitches available in each, no marked out pitches as such, just a ruling of 7 metres between units, which is nice as we went as a large group, which was also no issue at all.

Facilities were very clean, plenty of hot water, ones gents shower, and 2 for the ladies.

This site had a nice easy going feel about it, and it's location makes it worth every penny, we will definitely return to Ecclesden farm in the future.

Only stayed a couple of nights. All you need for a basic camping experience. Very hot showers, clean toilets and a washing up area. All could do with updating and somewhat limited, but you get what you pay for and at £12 per unit it comes in at good value for West Sussex. The fields are huge and you will soon be able to ignore the distant hum of traffic.

The Spotted Cow, a 15 minute walk across the fields is good for both food and real ales. The view from the top of Cissbury Ring (nr Findon) is worth the trip on a clear day.

Fantastic site if you don't want, or expect, too much luxury.

We thoroughly enjoyed our first camping trip at this site, we were originally staying for 2 nights but stayed for 4 nights and we had no problems at all.

We stayed on the first field on the right and could choose where we wanted to pitch up, we chose quite near the entrance of the field so it was close to the toilets, showers and washing up facilities. There were 3 ladies toilets and 2 showers which were clean and nice and warm.

By the farm house there was a small shed that had a fridge-freezer that you could use and there was also books and information leaflets about the surrounding area.

Our 2 youngest children enjoyed the freedom of running around in the large field and it was nice to allow them to do this knowing they were safe. At the rear of the farm there are miles of beautiful countryside and views of the sea, a perfect place to see amazing sunsets.

There was a nice community spirit with everyone chatting to each other and the camp-site owners were welcoming and helpful. There were a lot of children and dogs on the site but they were all well behaved and by 10:30pm (quiet time) everyone was settled down for the night and all you could hear was the distant droning of the 2 nearby roads but this was bearable.

The site is ideally situated to nearby seaside's, we visited Littlehampton which was ideal for crabbing, Worthing and did a day visit to Butlins in Bognor Regis. We will definitely return to this site if we visit this area again.

This is a brilliant site. So cheap and a choice of 3 fields with so much space. We camped at the bottom of the largest field which meant we had loads of privacy and couldn't hear a peep from the other campers. Campers can choose their spot to pitch tents. As tents are pitched around the outside of the fields the children have lots of space in the middle and can play safely. Toilet facilities are minimal and very basic but were clean. A short walk up the hill are some goats which entertained our 2 children and there were also some magnificent views towards the sea. Down the road is Angmering village which has a good fish and chip and Indian take away! The only downfall in my opinion is the road nose which you can hear at night. This is our second stay at Ecclesden farm and we will return.

Having just returned from this gem of a site.

Ok the facilities are very basic, but they are very well maintained and cleaned regularly, also responsible use from fellow campers, using the mop and bucket to remove muddy footprints from the floor.

As mentioned in previous reviews there is a bit of noise from the dual carriage way but it is minimal.

The views across the Downs and the central location to tourist and off beat locations is superb.

A wonderful site with room to breath as you are not pitched to close to your neighbors which allows some privacy with out feeling you could shake hands over the wind break.

Units are pitched around the perimeter of the field allowing kids and big kids to play cricket, rounders etc with out fear of being run over by cars.

All in all a great site found by chance!

The biggest point of a site is would you return?

Yes would be my answer!
