We had a great couple of weeks at Ecclesden Farm! A very peaceful, quiet campsite. Very spacious. At least six metres between each pitch. Plus a huge field - camping only took place around the sides of the field. The toilets were always clean and tidy. The kitchen area was also kept clean and tidy. The campers were generally very well behaved, courteous and polite. Most people were asleep by 11pm. There was also quiet time after 10pm on weekdays. The only exception being Saturday night but, even then, the 11pm quiet time was kept to. The busy times were the weekends but even then, we managed to live in harmony with the other people on the campsite. The weekdays were the best - very quiet and peaceful.

We stayed in the Cub field on Ecclesden Farm from Sunday 21st to Thursday 25th July 2013. Just before many schools broke up for the summer though my daughter had already finished. The cub field is lovely but can be very hot on the sheltered east side though we pitched there as you do get the morning shade from the high hedge. The field was lovely and quiet after sun down which makes a big difference. We were looking to avoid a site with a lot of electrical hookups as this seems to encourage the 'dinner party' culture of sitting up til midnight chatting loudly.
You can walk straight out of the field and up onto the Downs managed by the National Trust, it's very pretty.
The toilets and showers are very basic but there was always hot water, soap and handtowels. There is a very useful little shed by the farmhouse with local info, maps and a fridge/freezer to pop your milk in and freeze your ice blocks.
Kids do need to be supervised outside of the cub field as there is some through traffic from a house which shares the drive where they run a building firm. There is also the farm traffic to consider and some areas are not safe due the abandoned machinery and decaying buildings. I think it adds to the charm but not a good place for older kids to play on their own.
Littlehampton East beach (15 mins drive) is great for swimmers at high tide and fantastic for little ones to paddle at low tide as you can wade out for hundreds of metres and only get up to your thighs. There are life guards at the east beach too. We really enjoyed the little train ride in Norfolk gardens behind the beach and the Putting Green cafe was very pleasant indeed as was the food, worth crossing the road for and it's by the loos anyway. There is also a wide prom for walking and cycling which gives a nice sense of wellbeing. On the to Littlehampton you can pass through Rustington which has lots of little shops including a butchers, pattiserie, Boots and Coop supermarket which was useful.
We also cycling the traffic free route from Widewater lagoon nr Shoreham to Worthing pier which is less that 4 miles and my 7 year old coped fine with it and she even cycled back again after candy floss, 2p slots and fish & chips opposite the theatre.
All in all, excellent unless you're very fussy about having modern washrooms. To be picky there is a noise for a nearby dual carriageway but once the Goldfinches are singing in the hedges you won't notice this.

My partner and I have just come back from what was suppose to be a relaxing weekend camping however it was far from that and I hate to say that we will definitely not be returning back to this site.
There were so many things that we disagreed with that I don't know where to start, I'll list a few so you get the idea
- campsite had no record of our booking despite various emails. This was also the case with others that arrived at the same time
- As you can pick your pitches the rules re 7m between units was definitely not adhered to and I personally felt there was a lot of crowding.
- At peak times I estimated that over 500+ people (inc visitors) were on site (3 separate fields) and there was only 2 showers & 2/3 toilets per sex which is not enough to cope with the demand. Also only 3 washing up sinks that lacked hot water.
- Visitors were allowed to arrive & go as pleased however there was no record of this for h&s and there were gangs of guys turning up drinking & teenage girls (13, 14years) allowed to camp with out immediate adult supervision apparently drinking
- On the first night there was a drunk couple having a loud domestic that got out of hand which I know can happen at any site however campers had to call the police as it seems the wardens weren't around to sort out this issue or even call the police themselves.
Personally myself & my partner didn't feel safe at night on the site, we also felt that the customer service was awful as we complained about some of the issues but basically got told that it's how they run the site and that they regularly check the site, especially at quiet time which may or may not be the case.
This site has the potential to be really good if some of the above issues were sorted.

Just back from a weeks stay at Ecclesden Farm, and I have mixed views on the site.
This site has easy access from the main road, and in a great rural location not a lot of noise from the road though. It has 3 fields all grass site no hard standings. Plenty of room for children to play and cycle safely. There are some great walks with stunning views that are acessed from the site.
The biggest down side for this site are the facilities. 1 mens shower and 2 toilets, 2 ladies
Showers and 3 toilets. Although clean rather dated and for such a large site rather inadequate. If these were updated and inceased I would definitely return but not until.

We chose this site after reading the reviews here to visit family nearby.
Booking was straightforward, the price sensible and we had a friendly welcome.
The location is good particularly for walking, cycling, dogs etc as direct access to Highdown is possible.
We were in the field first on the left, bit of a mistake as the road noise was very intrusive, the other field must be quieter and would be a better choice.
We were most disappointed by the site facilities, which we found to be dirty, smelly and often lacking hot water. There seemed to be a problem with the drains as water was not draining from the basins properly, leaving the washing up area in quite a state. The facilities were cleaned regularly but it didn't last long as access to them is via the muddy farmyard. We were at the site over a busy weekend and the showers and toilets didn't meet the needs of the number of campers.
Overall we felt that the negatives outweighed the positives for us and we won't return.

We loved Ecclesden Farm. The owners were very friendly, helpful and good communication when e-mailing. It was very relaxing with lots of room to spread out. The toilet, shower block and washing up area were clean, tidy and plenty of hot water.
Nice and close to the main road and an easy site to find.
We visited Petworth House and park (National Trust) and Shoreham airshow while we were there for the weekend.
We will be going back again in the near future.

We loved Ecclesden Farm, a very relaxing place to stay. The toilets are small but very clean, the water in the showers is hot and powerful. When we were there it was very quiet and I never had to wait for a toilet or shower.
The owners were brilliant, our car broke down the day before we were due to leave and we were unsure about when were might leave the site. The owners were very understanding and helpful.
We were charged £15.00 / night for the 'van with hookup and I have to say we thought it was very good value. Sadly it's along way from home but we'd love to come back next year.

We went to Ecclesden Farm with another family for one night.
For the money you pay (£12 for a tent, 2 adults, 3 children and car) you cannot complain.
It is a pleasant site with a few fields. We did not have electric hookup. The owner was very friendly and relaxed.
The toilets and showers are basic but all you need for one night. Bit of a walk from the field we were camping in but all helps in keeping fit!
There was a water tap near us.
The kids played in the trees near us and had fun playing camps. Also loads of room to play sport.
We walked to Angmering village. Seemed to be a few walks around the site. The chippy in the village was very busy but fed the kids. We ordered curry from the takeaway opposite the chippy. They delivered it to the camp - very efficient. It was one of the best curries I have had!
I did not sleep well but I never do. There was some noise in the camp (not loud just people going to the toilet) and you can hear the main road as a constant noise.
Had a lovely time and fab weather!

The toilet and shower blocks are small but perfectly functional.
This is a good place to use as a sleeping base, but there is plenty to do in the surrounding area.
We found the owners very helpful and we would recommend it to anyone. Some people have criticised the lack of clubhouse/bar etc, but what do you expect for such a good price?
It is set in nice surroundings-very rural but close to the main road between southampton and Brighton (and beyond)
We will be back

This site is brilliant! 'It does what it says on the tin' so to speak.
The toilets are clean and well stocked, and although it was busy when we were there the was no waiting for showers. The site is large with not marked pitches, which is so unusual these days giving us the freedom to make it as comfortable as we liked.
The owners and staff are very helpful and kind, this is a true family site, no noise between 7. 30am and 10pm meant our children slept in (a real treat).
That walks over high down are lovely and the local pubs, fish and chip shop, curry house make for an easy life when it was too wet to barbecue.
I would recommend this site to anyone who is a true camper and even Glampers could enjoy the freedom of space.
I will continue to return to the well run family site.

Really nice simple site. Lovely walks from this working farm mean it can be a relaxing visit or a short drive will get you to some lovely beaches. Facilities are basic but adequate and the times we have visited have always been busy but not overcrowded with people. Nice touches like a freezer to put your ice blocks in without extra charge make it good value at only £12 per night. Road can be noisy at night not constantly but with the odd fast car flying along. No marked out pitches means you cam have huge space to yourself as we did the first time we visited despite there being two massive gatherings for birthday parties in the same field. However they were known to owners and went quiet on the dot of 10 pm.
Next visit much quieter but someone decided to pitch right next to us and smoke us out with their never ending BBQ. But you never can legislate for folk! Will be back next time we are in that part of the world.

Oh boy. I was disappointed when we got to this site, expecting so much more from all the positive reviews.
Maybe its just me being a Princess, but tiny bathroom, with 2 showers and 2 toilets, teamed with being put in the farthest corner of a large field (why? there were only 2 other caravans there, and they were right next to the loos!), made this a miserable stay.
£15 a night (with elecs) for that? No thanks.
The owner was pleasant, I must add that. But I wouldn't return or recommend.

What a lovely family site, we arrived to find a huge field with a row of tents round the edge, lots of kids playing in the middle where they could be seen. The owners were very friendly and helpful. It was our first time camping as a family and first time out in our new corrao 8 tent, any worries about it being too big were put to rest as the first tent we passed in the field was the same as ours!
There was only one shower for the men but it was free and really warm and clean and I didn't have to wait once to use it even though each time I went at different times of the day.
There was a small fridge/freezer in the hut on the in for ice blocks, meals etc.
We found the Village Deli in Findon 4 miles up the road a lovely plae to stop for a light lunch, well worth the trip.
Sainsburys was 5 min away, turn left out of the site, right at the roundabout and follow straight ahead, a better choice of food than the co op in Angmering.
Quiet time at 10. 30 was just that and it felt like people were sat in their tents on a morning waiting to let the kids back out at 7. 30 as it came alive again at this time, our two were busy asleep at this time though.
There was a mention about road noise elsewhere, the road is quite busy but not close so what you hear is the distant, constant noise of tires rather than the cars rattling by at close quarters, it didn't bother us, it was more of a background noise and no more annoying than trees blowing in a breeze.
A long drive from Leeds but we'd go back if we travel this way again

We have visited this site twice in the last week. Staying 3 nights Mon to Wed and then Sat and Sun. The site is a working farm with 3 large fields - we had an electric hook up so were quite close to the toilet facilities but if you were at the farthest end of the field it would be a long walk. Indeed some people drove their cars to do the washing up!
The toilets and showers were very clean and checked regularly. There was absolutely no problem with waiting for showers during the week and on the Sunday morning a short queue formed but a wait of less than 5 minutes is perfectly acceptable. The showers were lovely and hot even at 9am in the morning after repeated use.
The field is on a slight slope but beautifully grassy and has a fantastic view across the downs. Loads of space during the weekdays but much busier at the weekend. The owners were very friendly and helpful lending us an extension for our hookup as they had had to put as quite some distant from the connection point
The site has a policy of quite after 10. 30 pm and on the Sat a party was going on in a nearby field (not the camp field) but it too stopped by 10. 30 pm and all was quite. You do get some traffic noise from the A280 and A27 but this is very much background noise. It was quite windy on a couple of days and there is little in the large field to provide shelter but a carefully placed car acted as an additional wind break!
This is a really nice site and we will be back next year as we visit Worthing annually for bowls competitions.

We stayed for two nights over a weekend in August and found this to be an excellent campsite.
As others have mentioned the toilet/shower facilities did get a bit overwhelmed at peak times e.g. 10 minute wait for shower on Sat am, however the price, space and stunning views more than made up for this.
The owners were very friendly and helpful, giving the whole place a relaxed feel.
The site seemed to be very child and a dog friendly (we have neither) and there was plenty of space for both, with large areas in the middle of the fields for children to play and dog walking fields behind the site.
The Spotted Cow in Angmering is a short walk away and well worth a visit.
We hope to return soon.
