We spent 2 nights at the site. There are 3 large fields which on the Saturday night looked full. There was typical Saturday night noise until the early hours which was a shame. We also stayed Sunday night which was much quieter, although the noise from the nearby road was fairly constant. I agree with other reviews which say that the toilets/showers and washing up facilities are basic. In fact most mornings and evenings resulted in a 10/15 minute wait to use the facilities which are old. The owners seemed nice and offered an extension lead so we could use the electricity point and they did clean the toilets and emptied bins regularly. No play equipment for children, although ball games were allowed on the fields. We ate a meal at the Worlds End pub, Patching which was good and the mini puds were delicious.
This was our third visit as we love this site. There's plenty of space, it's nice and quiet, and great value at £10. The facilities are few but we've always found them satisfactory and clean.
There are shops and pubs in Angmering which is a pleasant walk or cycle across the fields (takes about 10 minutes to cycle to the first pub). About half an hour to walk to the shops.
On this visit we finally discovered Highdown which you can access from the site. Lovely walks and views and the historic fort site to see.
The beaches at Goring and Littlehampton are a short drive away.
Stayed 4 nights here, site was quiet midweek in the school holidays, became busier on the Friday night but ample room for everyone. 2 showers for ladies and 1 for men, we always waited in the morning for the showers and the water was not very warm.
Having said that we would definitely return, if there were better showers and toilets the site would be too busy. Good fish and chip shop in Angmering village. Bargain price at £10 per night, when we arrived we were given an envelope and told to post our site fees through anytime!
This campsite is a real bargain - much cheaper with more availability than any others in the area when we booked.
The showers/toilets are basic - and two showers is not enough for an entire campsite of campers - some people were queuing for 45 mins for a shower! The nearby road was a bit noisy, which was a shame as the views and location were otherwise beautiful.
Aside from these two cons, everything else was great - it rained a lot with quite a high wind whilst we were there, but the ground drained well and the trees provided some wind shelter.
We were hoping to see some animals / be able to purchase some food from the farm, as it says it's a working farm, but neither of these seemed to be available - the owners could definitely capitalise more on this.
A spacious, no-frills site in beautiful countryside. Large fields, feels very free. The owners were very friendly and it was very reasonable at only £10 a night.
There are a few toilets and showers which are well presented and clean. That's all the facilities it has, but if you like camping on a big field with plenty of space to play games, it's the one for you. Unfortunately no fresh food for sale, which you might have hoped for on a farm!
A very hot weekend, I was awake at 5.30 to a beautiful morning with rabbits scampering about the fields.
Very handy for Worthing (we were visiting relatives there). If it was nearer to where we live, I would definitely be back often.
What a great site. Firstly pleased that they have rules about 7 metres between units. Plenty of room and you can camp where you like. Very friendly owners. Nice and quiet between 10.30 and 7.30. Only 2 ladies and 1 mens showers and they did get cold which wasn't a problem as it was so hot, but would be unpleasant in colder weather. Took 2 hours to walk to Worthing pier and 1 hour down to the nearest beach. Was popular with families. £10 per night for a tent was reasonable too. No shops nearby.
Visited this site over a beautifully sunny weekend and found it quite by chance after phoning approximately 20 other site which were all full. We were glad they were, what a gem this place is! Extremely helpful on the phone when enquiring about availability. We were told they were almost full but there was an over spill field. W
hen we arrived we were able to pitch where we wanted and even warned of the possibility of noise in one field due to two large parties celebrating birthdays. There was no noise after 10.30 on the both nights we stayed.
Despite being told they were full there was plenty of room. Facilities were basic and clean, 2 showers and 2 toilets in the ladies with additional facilities in a portable block opposite.
Fields fairly level and catch the full sun all day. Only downside, if it can be called that, is there is only one washing up sink which is insufficient for the amount of pitches.Just take a washing up bowl!
Nice walks from the site and close to some excellent beaches. We will definitely use this site again especially at £10 per pitch per night.
Visited Ecclesden over the bank holiday for 4 nights with a mixed group of 'vans and tents. It's a lovely site with good ground (it rained all day Saturday and was not boggy) and lovely views. Just off A27 but no noise to speak of.
There are excellent dog walks via a footpath up the hill. Turn left and you can go all the way to a NT iron- or bronze-age hill fort. Turn right and there is a circular easy walk to the village and back to the site. There isn't much in Angmering however and shopping is best in Rustington.
The owners and staff are very welcoming and easy-going, charging our battery for free. It is also cheap at £10 per night. However, there were a huge amount of units over the b/h and although there was lots of space, there were only two showers for ladies and one for men. There are four or five loos plus a disabled one, which really isn't enough for the amount of people staying. We have a 'van but our friends in tents got a bit fed up with the walk and the wait.
Only one washing up sink too, with hot water that went quickly. Did not use showers, but all looked very clean. Overall, would return, but think that some investment is required in the form of portable loos or similar in the main field.
We're fairly local to this campsite, and wanted to stay somewhere to experience camping for the first time with a toddler.
The help given on the phone and when we arrived was fantastic, and very welcoming.
We stayed in the main field (can't remember the name!) and pitched about 2/3 of the way down. The site itself was lovely, some noise from the local scout troop but they were having fun!
Our daughter enjoyed herself greatly, and there were plenty of children for her to play with. The toilet blocks were a little walk away, but nothing too far. All spotlessly clean with plenty of paper provided.
The pitch price was the cheapest that I found in the whole area, we were lucky as they were the only place with an available pitch! Would definitely return again, hopefully soon.
Lovely campsite. We used it for several weekends as it is close to home. Lots of space for children to play in the middle and a 'den/tree' area they all played in.
The first time we camped here we went right to bottom of big field, which did mean a trek to the toilets but we were unsure how our dogs would behave so chose this spot.
Toilets are basic, small but adequate. We like the area for walking and being close to beach. Brilliant dog walking at top of hill, Book exchange and freezer block service.
A cheap no thrills campsite, There were 3 fields, all quite level, with excellent drainage, I know this because it pored down all day on Sunday, but the ground didn't get boggy at all.
Although the site was listed as fully booked there was plenty of space, we were in the largest field with a mixture of caravans and tents round the edges, the middle was left empty which gave everybody plenty of space for ball games or kite flying etc.
The toilet block has 2 toilets and 2 shower cubicles (Well the ladies did, not sure about the gents, presume it is the same) with a separate portacabin which also has a ladies and a gents toilet, and sink, only cold water in these though, whereas the main showers had hot water with lovely powerful showers and plenty of space for clothing, and dressing, the loo rolls were replenished and didn't run out whilst we were there and the toilets and sinks were kept very clean, the floor was as clean as possible given all the rain we had.
One washing up sink with double drainer was provided with hot water, although it did run cold if too many people used it in succession.
A childs swing was available but no other play equipment. There was very little noise pollution as the site is away from the main road, although at night when it was quiet you could hear traffic but it didn't really disturb.
From the site you could easily get to Worthing to the west and Littlehampton to the east, although not really beach weather whilst we were there. Arundel is also quite close which is certainly worth a visit, with the castle, boating lake and wetland centre.
The owners were very pleasant and helpful, didn't pressure us for payment, quite happy to wait until we were pitched, we were given a leaflet with all the information needed, such as the rules, all of which were sensible, also a list of nearby amenities and useful telephone numbers.
The price was £10 a night for tent and 4 people, extra adults paid £2.50, there were no charges for cars, dogs, gazebo's, pup tents etc which think is a real plus. BBQs allowed but not open fires. There was a real sense of being in the country side, which to a towny like me was lovely, the surrounding area is a series of rolling hillsides which was rather beautiful. I'd go back again, but hopefully in better weather.
Large site, 3 fields but unfortunately when we arrived at our pitch it was covered in dog poo so had to call down to owner straight away. She sent someone up to clear the pitch and then as there was quite a bit of it they moved us to another pitch. While she was clearing up the dog poo the family responsible still had their dogs loose and pooing everywhere as she cleaned up- but nothing was said to them to put on a lead.
Didn't really start us off on best note but made the most of the 4 days there. The site was really busy and as well as 2 fields with caravans in which would have been the 50 pitches we were expecting there was also another field filled with tents and the loo's and showers on site were not adequate for that amount of people, there were far more people on site than we had expected there to be. Loos and showers were not the best ive experienced by any means, old and a bit grubby and tatty.
Nice pub in the village itself for food the Lamb inn really nice welcome from managers there, co op as well for essentials and a post office. Theres also a motor racing track which you can hear from the site on racedays.
Good value for money site though and you do only get what you pay for and at £12.50 a night with electric with no other extra charges for awnings, dogs etc you cant complain and location was good with lots of attractions and days out around. Piches were large and well spaced out and lots of room for kids to play in the fields and some nice walks if there with a dog.
The site was far too big for us with the extra tents all there as well and was a fair walk to the loos and showers from the cub field that we were in. If going to have that many campers there really need to hire in some temporary loos and showers for the summer months if no where else to put more on the site.
If we did ever return here would definitely be off season when hopefully every last space had not been packed full.
This site is superb value for money. It's a good basic site on a farm, for people who like camping and don't need loads of extras laid on. About 20 mins drive from Bognor Regis where we were, and very handy for main routes.
We stayed for one night over Easter holidays, not many people there and a choice of three fields. We camped in top field: plenty of space (our kids met others and played in centre of field) and easily found a flat pitch although the field as a whole does gently slope.
Toilets spotlessly clean and free hot showers were good. Staff helpful in letting us arrive and park when and where we wanted.
For 2 adults and 2 children in a campervan we only paid £10 and that included hot showers and I challenge you to find better value.
This was our second visit this year, having camped here in July. The site was lovely and peaceful, with the children being back at school. As our last visit, we stayed in Cottage Field. There were only a few caravans and another tent, so we virtually had the field to ourselves. Again, loved every moment of our visit. Weather was good, albeit a little blustery. We are looking forward to 2010 now, so we can camp on the site again. Excellent stay and can highly recommend the site to anyone.
First time camping for about 35 years so wasn't too sure what I'd let myself in for.
I was pleasantly surprised. Ecclesden Farm is a well run camp site that has most of the basic needs. The toilets and showers, although not many, were cleaned 2 - 3 times a day, and when I say cleaned, I mean cleaned. They were spotless.
We arrived on the bank holiday Monday although we were supposed to have arrived the day before, two broken car keys for both of our cars prevented the latter. This wasn't a problem to the camp site owners.
We were put in the 'Cub' field and told to position ourselves against the right hand (East) side of the site. This was great for catching the last of the days sunshine but we were a bit exposed to the westerly prevailing wind.
We had to abandon the tent on the Wednesday evening as the rain and wind got a bit too heavy for the type of tent we had (Argos 4 person tent borrowed from my daughter). This probably proved to be a good decision as when we arrived back the following day two of the guy ropes had been ripped out of the ground by the wind. Overall the tent was better than I expected. The couple next door described the winds as hurricane force, probably overkill but I know what they mean.
Lots of good cycling around the area including Littlehampton and Worthing. Great fish 'n' chips in Angmering.
A little shed at the entrance had a fridge freezer for use of the campers so you could freeze your ice packs etc. A little library where you could 'swap' books for a £1 to charity.
Beautiful walk to Highdown Hill (NT) behind the farm, fantastic views and the best bit of all? only £7.50 per pitch for 2 adults and 3 children under 16. Add another £2.50 and you can then have a hook-up. To make things even better, the showers and washing up areas had lashings of hot water (mostly too hot but I'm not complaining) and this was all free!
I think I have reconverted my wife back to camping. The last time we went was about 30 odd years ago and she was put off by torrential rain all week. Now she's trying to get me to buy a new tent and persuade our kids and partners to join us next year - probably at Ecclesden.
